***My friends here is the video on how to repair a sagging headliner. This process works and will save you many dollars if you do it yourself. Now always remember the only real and best method to fix a sagging headliner is to REPLACE IT...but this method will buy you some time to save your money and be able to have that done :)***

I really appreciate your dedication to helping people with issues that may cost them a fortune to repair. I'm a mechanic of 50 years but I'm not a body or detail man. You've taught me many things and saved me a ton. Thanks so much.

Lol I can't watch it now.
Damn, this comment hits home lol
This was way over my head until you folks demonstrated the proper way to get it done!!!! OUTSTANDING VIDEO!
Tyler thank you very much my friend we truly appreciate your great comments
In college I inherited a pontiac station wagon where the headliner rode on my head. Got fed up and used heavy duty staples to put it back up and then used nail polish in a similar color to the headliner on the staples so they would blend in. Worked well enough for a college kid's car. Your method look much better. :)
Thanks for sharing! Thanks for being a great subscriber as well! Have a fantastic evening my friend. mad Mike the hammer SpC
I'm so glad I saw this. My truck's headliner is drooping along the front and I was going to just spray adhesive onto the drooping cloth and hope that I didn't get any on anything else......knowing perfectly well that I would. Now I'm going to get a dauber and eliminate the impending mess. Thanks so much!
Followed your instructions and it worked. I am very happy with the results.
The car is a 96 BMW which has a recess over back seat that had dropped out.
I managed to remove some glue spots with glue remover solvent.
Found that using quite a bit of glue remover would helped distribute the glue above for a more continuous coverage.
It took me two attempts to get the syringe seal in the can properly.
Another trick, I found one of those chargeable paint thinner spray cans that had the same top on it as the glue. Therefore I was able to clean out the syringe. So hopefully I will be able to re-use it.
So thanks for the video. This has save me many hours it would take to remove the lining board and glue the complete thing.
Andrew Thompson thank you and we are glad it worked for you and thank you for sharing your real life tips on this process it helps the entire channel, my friend :)
Just finished repairing the 4-5 sagging sections in my 2013 KIA Sorento. Your 'spray can and needle' method worked great ! Thanks for sharing this great video. TJS
Todd Smith good to hear that my friend glad we could help :)
How is it holding up? Thanks.
Yes! I’ve been waiting. But thank you most of all for being honest about the glue showing through. No other video that I’ve found talks about that.
Linda thank you very much we try to give the good and bad about every video we do our system will hold the headliner up and out-of-the-way but as I mentioned it will leave spots showing where you did glue there’s nothing you can do about that other than replacing the headliner thank you very much have a great day
Thank you! I've watched about 20 videos before this. I was looking for a way to fix a small "bubble" in the middle of my headliner, nowhere close to any edges. I really didn't want to pull the whole thing down for a 9 inch circle in the middle. This is the video I was looking for! Thanks again 👍
Michael Gasperik good deal glad we could help you my friend :)
Awesome , my headliner is just starting to sag in 2 spots , small sags . It’s an older truck and not worth replacing the whole thing . This is exactly what I was looking for . $40 in materials and a good demonstration. Thank you .
This is exactly the video for you! Thank you very much for watching and sharing, have a fantastic day and all the best on your project my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
@@SweetProjectCars son of a gun … I just did this and it worked. The hardest part was getting the dang needle to stay on the nozzle , maybe I didn’t wait long enough to let it dry ….. anyways it worked , it is a tan interior so there was some bleed , like you said , but overall a success . My headliner is no longer sagging . Thanks again !!!
3M Super 77 cans I bought on Amazon this week no longer have the little white tube on the nozzle. Any substitutes available that would work?

Dude I thought I was pretty good at coming up with great ways to repair things but sir you have me beat by a mile. Very good video thank you
Glad to help! Thank you for watching and commenting, we truly appreciate it. Have a great weekend my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
You guys are just awesome!
I took your technique and modified it slightly. Instead of glue, I used some clear silicon bathroom mastic, this has enough adhesion, but doesn’t stain the liner (if you go easy). I could attach a needle to the silicon tube to inject tiny amounts of silicon about 1inch apart, a decorating paint roller can help to even out the liner as you work from the adhered area towards the sagged area.
Thank you very much Simon, we really appreciate the view and comment my friend. Hope you have a fantastic weekend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Great tips. I replaced my headliner in my truck with stretch denim once and it was fairly easy so don't be affraid to try replacing it completely if it's totatally shot. Love these videos!
Andy Long thank you very much for your great comments :)
Kudos to you all you from a craftsman with decades of experience. Very, very good, common sense advice and instruction. Well Done!!

I had same idea to use a needle but was trying to figure out how to get super glue in the syringe! Thank you Google and you. This is perfect !
Glad you found us! Thank you for watching and sharing, hope you have a fantastic day my friend. mad Mike & team
Great job explaining and showing how to get this done properly and the pitfalls that so many omit telling...
Guy Mooglie thank you very much for your great comment we truly appreciate that :)
This is how I imagined fixing mine so I'm glad to see it does work. There's no way I'm removing all the headlining to replace it as I know its a horrible job!
Glad we could help! There's no need to remove the whole liner for just a sag, follow our instruction, you will love the results my friend. Thank you for watching and commenting, have a great week. mad Mike & team
I needed this. Confirmed that the way I intended to fix my headliner will work! Thanks!
My headliner (light grey thin cloth) on my Chevy Express van started peeling away at the windshield last year while on the road towing my travel trailer. I stopped at a hardware store and bought some spray contact glue and applied it. It held up until this month and started peeling away again. My GF suggested contact glue used for sewing materials. I tried that a few days ago and although messy, it did a nice job of holding the edge of the headliner up. Only time will tell if it lasts.
Good job way to be creative glad to hear you’re conquering the headliner issues they can be real troublesome sometimes
This video completely blew my mind. The time and effort you put into these videos to really explain what's going on, even creating a mock/model roof for it - that's just so awesome. My 2008 Range Rover Sport has areas on the flip down visors where the fabric has begun to sag in 1 to 2 inch sections. Looks like pockets of air behind the material. Same with the fabric on the sliding sunroof panel. For years I have been trying to figure out how to fix it without removal and replacing.
This idea is brilliant!!
I must try this!
You have to try it my friend, you will love the results, make sure you use the exact products/tools we share in the description for the same results. Thank you for watching and sharing, have a fantastic day and all the best on your project. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Thanks for sharing..... Time to get busy.
I've been staring at a full can of adhesive and the sagging leading edge of my headliner for about a year.
Jerry.Rigged thank you very much for your great comment :)
I'm really glad I found this channel. Tons of cool tips. I may not agree with everything I see on every video, but I certainly respect the experience of the man doing this. I wonder, are you a general mechanic, auto body or detail shop? I know shops can be a bit if everything, but in specific I'm curious. I retired from auto body in 2002 and we did tons of wild stuff with cars and trucks, and I've learned some odd tricks over the years. We were doing headlight polishing before there were kits made for it. It always gave the customer a wow factor when they had a fender bender needing repair, only to get the car back with headlights that looked new again, but had no extra charge for the service. We did that for returning customers and folks that weren't a huge pita to deal with. I guess I could say it's always wise to be kind to your mechanic!
So this guy will 'favorite' your comment, but won't bother replying to your questions? 👎

My wife's car has a tan headliner and no foam on the back and I don't see any problem with doing what you've suggested for the front of the headliner where it is falling away from the windshield. I'm fairly certain that she'd be happy to have me do this for her. Thanks for the instructions, Mike. Cheers from Indy ;)

Thank you Chris we try to do the best we can I’m sure there’s a few things we done our videos that have irritated a few people out there but at least here we nailed it have a great day my friend
Chris Padilla May I ask the name of the spray?
I think your videos are all fantastic, and I enjoy watching them. I especially liked the
ones on how to refurbish old dirty cracked leather car seats. I must say, truly amazing,
and I'll have to try that. Kind of looks to good, and easy to be true, but it looks authentic.
I would say though on this "headliner" video, you should explain to viewers what causes
these headliners to sag. If you don't, your repairing it for nothing as it will soon sag again. You firstly have to get to the "root" of the problem that's causing the headliner to sag, and that's usually caused by a small water leak, that over time, breaks down the adhesive holding the liner up. I'll post an "example" of what happened to me, regarding this problem
What caused my sagging headliner was this - on the "outside" of the car, right
at the top of the front windshield, is a long chrome banding piece that hold
a rubber seal in place. It had come loose, causing "water" to slowly leak in over
time. The headliner "inside" started to droop from the very top front, up by the
windshield, and spread to the middle, then the back. It was an 86 Buick Park
Avenue, and this happened in the year 2000. I took it to an upholstery place, and they told me to get the "cause" of the problem fixed (water leak) before they would
replace it, with a new headliner, as it would be a waste of money and happen
again. Makes sense right !!!
I took it to an auto body shop, and they had some special strong adhesive, and
I believe it was poly eurathane. They put some of this eurathane on the rubber,
and put the long chrome holder back over the rubber, and put a weight on it for
4-5 hours to let the eurathane adhesive set up. This fixed the problem.
I then took it back to the upholstery place, and they put in a new headliner. There was no more problems, and no leaking of water anymore. If your problem
is caused by water--which I would estimate 95 % are then get the water leak
fixed. You will also see very light water stains on your old liner, when you look
up at it, when it's sagging--then you know it's a "water leak."
Note-there is always anti-smoking fanatics, that blame smoking for a lot of different things that are just not true. So good new smokers--keep puffing away, and do so in peace, as it will not affect your car's interior headliner. The only thing you have to worry about is lung cancer, and yellow stained fingers :) Now these are "real" effects of smoking. I say this, as there was some guy that thought that cigarette smoke caused this- "no chance." His comment is below in the comment section, and also refuted by 3-4 other smokers, including myself.
Grant P thank you for sharing my friend :)
I thought it was from having the window down and smoking and air blowing in
A very good explanation and detailed so there are no reasons for a mistake. Thank you!

I did it and you can see everywhere I sprayed it on my light headliner you think he would have mentioned that would happen a few times in the video Thanks for your help works great
PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO AGAIN, I MENTION YOU "WILL" SEE WHERE YOU SPRAY IT IN THE VIDEO. This is a temporary fix, not for show results, it was clearly stated that this is for safety to keep the headliner off your head/face until you can have it replaced. mad Mike the hammer SPC

The only thing I would have recommended with this video was an after shot of how a light colored headlinder looks after your clever technique is used. I am going to use this in my 2007 Camry, where the back seat, driver side is hanging. Hopefully the spots that your saying that shows where this repair is done is not too glaring. Anyway, its better than leaving it the way it is. Thanks so much for this tip!
Earl, you will definitely see where you glue it, but you have no choice other than replacing the headliner. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Out here in Sacramento, the summer's heat goes over a hundred degrees for weeks at a time. The headliner to my handicap van is sagging all over. The cost to fix is over six hundred dollars [last year quote] and there are only a few places that do it. All the heat pretty much guarantees it's going to sag again in a few years. I'm going to try this first and see if I can accept it as it is what it is! At least this gives me a shot of doing something myself. Thanks, guys...
Nice Matthew! Thank you for sharing, and like you said, doing something is better than nothing at all. Have a great day my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC

I love your videos...I had tried the spray cement on my head liner...yeah...it's tan!! I didn't let it set up...and eventually it came down and sure enough...I can see the glue. I wish I had seen this video first!
This is wow! My daughter used her fingers to kinda remove my headliner. I had to come to your page to look for the best and right solution and boom!, you got it right here!
Thanks man!

Your methods are absolutely incredible! Every single thing that I have tried from your videos has worked, sir. You need to open up a detailing school. I have used at least 7 or 8 of you how to videos, and they were absolute truth as advertised. Looks good for a quick fix. All for that. However, taking out the lining, which can take time, is worth while to distribute the fabric evenly. (Learning the hard way about that one).

Look who is here my favorite car show, thanks my friend
Coolissim0 Unl1mited thank you very much as always we love it when you stop by :)
Thank you very much for this great film. It is just genius approach. I think that device you showed us should be patented. Many people would buy it gladly, something like a set of syringes w/needles filled w/that headliner glue. It would be very good temporary repair.
I replaced the headliner in one of our cars one year ago. To strengthen the headliner I painted it several times w/Fiberglass Resin (Bondo), how I saw in one film, slightly sanded it, cleaned w/Isopropyl Alcohol, and then glued a new HL fabric to the HL w/Permatex 27828 Body Shop Heavy Duty Headliner Adhesive, High-Strength Spray Adhesive, Repair Detached Or Loose Interior Parts, Dries Clear, Aerosol Can, 16.75 Oz (fm/Amazon). I used 2 cans on a small passenger car, working fm/the center and everything how it should be done (I watched several films before). It was my 1st HL, so I did a mistake: I gave too much tension in one corner, so it barely stuck. But everything looked good, and of course much better then before. But after a year it saggs fm/many places, at the center as well. I might try this method before I put a new HL. I should say that it is very hard to work w/that glue, once 2 surfaces touch each other you can't pool them apart back, not like w/professional glue, when they spray fm/the bottle on the HL and then adjust the fabric by moving it back and forth. Can someone tell the name of that professional glue? I think the one I used is not so good. Thank you again.
Happy to help Olena! Thank you for watching and sharing, we really appreciate it, hope you have a fantastic weekend my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC

The is one of those, "I should have thought of that", moments. Nifty little trick there. Thanks much for sharing. If one wanted their needle to stay unclogged, could they spray some Goof-Off through it to remove the adhesive in it? Thanks, Tom
Tom thank you very much...and the problem with taking the nozzle off with these 3M adjustable level cans is you cant get it back on, so we advise not to remove it, we found out the hard way lol, so capping it with the airtight syringe cap will work great for days even weeks:)
Great Video! Very cool! I had a crossfire where the headline started drooping like this. I ENDED UP SELLING IT! 😆😆😆
Einstein I’m with you on that a sagging headliner Can be very frustrating as I’ve always said the only way to really fix it correctly is to replace it.

great idea ! I will try it out on my 82 silverado because the headliner is driving me crazy !
cody cheney thank you and your silverado will love you for it :)
Great video , my old Range rover use to brush my hair while I drive , that's why I'm bold
Martin Gillespie LOL must have been my reason for lack of hair as well :)
Thanks for posting this! I just ordered the Syringe tops from your link! Thanks again!
tim you are very welcome
@@SweetProjectCars after going into Autozone to buy the M3 and looking at the nozzle; I noticed that it is not the same nozzle as in the video. The new nozzle is flat and rectangular and does not seem to detach. If I super glue the syringe onto this new nozzle will this process still work?
Just wanted to let others that now 3M has changed the style of spray nozzle to glue to needle. Bought all the needed items and was surprised to see the change on the needle. It is more flat than round as in the video. Suppose for a wider spray. Trying to glue the needle is tough, tried drilling out the needle larger and squeezing it to help attach with minimal success. Hoping to find maybe a larger needle to attach to the nozzle. Still a GREAT video. Going to give it my best shot at making it work. Thanks Sweet Project Cars for posting!
Jim you need to cut the square tip off my friend with a brand new very sharp razor blade:)
My can had a flat nozzle tip. I meant to say can nozzle vs. needle. Maybe just my can had this change of nozzle style. Will try again because when I did get it to work, it did great but my gluing needle to tip didn't hold. Guess I have to revisit my gluing of the needle. Thanks again for a great video on sagging headliner. I'm re-gluing a headliner in my Parker boat.
Hello Jim yes you need to glue that needle on very very well with hot glue it will work great after
You have to cut that tip off...review the video startup!
@@det2659 There is not tip on the new cans, nothing to cut off.
I appreciate you keeping it 100 with us. Great instructional!

Did this before a hot summer. It worked perfectly. Took about 4 goes to get get it so it would not bubble. Certainly easier than organising and fitting a new headliner.
Found brake clean is good at removing glue marks. Too much brake clean and you need to do that area again.
Glad we could help you and you good job sometimes it takes tenacity and to have the Neverr Quitt attitude when working on a vehicle that’s for sure
