I backtracked ‘narcocorrido’ on Wiki, leading me to ‘mazurka,’ and ended up at Frederick Chopin’s page bc he stylised the original folk music in the 1830s. Freaking wild.
The song in the intro it's so iconic in Latin America, it was a popular meme that everybody knows, even people who don't know anything about the series.
The song is a "narcocorrido" (drug ballad) - a mexican genre with music about the cartels, referencing cartel feuds, singing about different drug lords and so on. Often the musicians are cartel members themselves. It's a very popular genre, with both regular people and cartel people (of which there are 100s of thousands in different roles).
In an earlier episode there’s a quick scene of Skyler relaxing looking at old photos and focusing on one with she and another man seated in a restaurant. It is of course Mr. Grabby Hands.
…And of course, NO ONE watching this through for the first time would even remember that quick, seemingly insignificant shot of a photo when we first actually meet Ted. It’s there purely to catch repeat viewers by surprise, who could actually recognize Ted in the photo and finally understand what that quick shot might be suggesting. This show is definitely made to be watched through more than once.
I love the fact that the show manages to bring in such an opening sequence and just make it work, it still fits, it's not a cringe attempt of humour or something like this.
The music video is just an interesting "intro" or "open". The song contains a message about the events unravelling and that's all there is to it. The creators being creative for the sake of creativity and entertainment.
The show is very good now, but it will soon become a masterpiece that obsesses fans til today. Each season gets better and better until it's something like you've never seen. Looking forward to your guys' reaction!
The show treats Hank’s fear as panic attacks. Coming from a metaphysical viewpoint, I see Hank as an intuitive man who follows his gut. His intuition and experience kicks in that things are not handled effectively in the el Paso dea department. Hank’s falling apart with fear was a premonition. It was stupid of those dea guys to touch the head. They should have called the bomb squad. Arrogant.
A good discussion, no doubt, but one thing kind of befuddled me. Eric says 'we are all made of the same thing but we don't all have the same value'. Superficially that is easy to say. The question is; who gets to make the decision which human life has more value and what criteria do they base that decision on?
There’s definitely a pattern here of Hank initially being caught off-guard and panicking (the beginning of his previous encounter with Tuco pointedly did NOT go as he later described it to his boss, he did not immediately pull out his weapon and identify himself as a Law Enforcement Officer but instead stood there dumbfounded and let Tuco reach into the car and get the drop on him with a frickin’ semi-automatic rifle) before eventually his instincts & training kick in and he’s able to act effectively to kill Tuco or save that guy from bleeding to death with a makeshift tourniquet.
hi! honestly it changes depending on the video - we love making fun drinks haha! sometimes it's tea, sometimes it's some kind of mocktail. i think this one was sparkling water with a bit of cranberry juice / cherry powder for vitamin C / potentially other stuff - i like to throw in different things for hydration/minerals (lemon/lime juice, pinch of salt, etc). i'm studying nutrition science so i'm kind of a nerd about this kind of stuff too. we have fun lol!
My man is winning in life (talking about eric not mr white lol) she's genuinely funny , beautiful and the way she looks at you....... I'm genuinely happy for you
When I showed it to my dad, he finished the episode and gave me an exhausted look that said, "I don't know if I can do that again". Understanding immediately what he was feeling, I assured him that wasn't going to happen again lol.
There's an entire genre of Mexican music about the drug cartels. That's what the start of the show was about.
love the background info. thanks for your comment and for watching along with us! 😊
@@nerdymarriedcouple Greetings from Albuquerque, my home.
Narcocorridas is the name for that music. That's Aaron Paul dressed as Heisenberg in the music video.

The words of the song are clear. Walt’s bumbling into territory he has no business in. The cartel.

Looks like Jesse is finally applying himself as a... [checks notes] blowfish.
Marie made a comment in a previous episode about the cartel cutting off peoples heads.

Bands in Mexico make songs about infamous criminals often, it's a real thing that they do there.
That song is my favorite intro of all the BB episodes.

The band at the beginning was a modern day version of a Chorus, used in ancient Greek theatre. Great catch by Kailyn!

i just started bingeing your BB reactions... lol sounds like y'all watch The Office as much as me (or very recently anyway) haha
Just me! This episode was more vintage 60’s “TWILIGHT ZONE” only instead of
Rod Serling we got a guitar trio!
18:46 - No te Metas con el Cartel
Once again, in the moment, Hank is the man when things go horribly sideways.
he came through for sure

Nice Meredith impersonation 😅
Secret weapon- chilly powder😁
I never saw reactors yawning so much. It’s weird to see every single video.
Bothers me so much when people lack any type of cartel information and culture.
I'm kinda curious what kailyn was drinking from a jar. Was it like tea?
most likely tea or sweet tea. no clue where they are located but im in texas and drinking out of a jar is fairly common. i mean its the same as a cup.
