Very informative and lots of historic pictures. Good video. Could have been very good but creator went with an AI narrator with all the resulting mispronunciations and odd sentence structure.

Was surprised to learn that White Sands Missile Range, with its current 6,000 civilian and military personnel and conducting over 3000 tests for the army, navy, and air force, is abandoned! It is quite active and continues to play an important role in military preparedness and research.

The old west forts are pretty much ruins, as you would expect. A HUGE chunk of land south of Carrizozo is military reserve down to the Texas border, between White Sands missile range & the Fort Bliss Army Reserve. Maybe parts of the missile range are abandoned, but don't bet on it. The locals tell of folks sneaking into areas that appear abandoned, yet military vehicles home right in on them in 5-10 minutes & escort them out at gunpoint. Walker is supposedly all civilian for decades since the 1960's, yet it hosts a permanent contingent of GERMAN soldiers living beneath it. Estimates run from several hundred to 2,500 based there; it's a secret well-known to the locals. I grew up in Roswell. The runways are world-class & regularly host foreign nations training pilots. Don't think for one minute that the city can provide for their upkeep. DOD is still there, even if they officially maintain they are not. Oh, and the vid says RIAC stands for Roswell Int'l Air Center, but the I is for Industrial. Though it can handle any size aircraft, that fact is deliberately downplayed in the name.

You need to do some research. The Roswell incident was ALL about the base.

Seriously! Also Walker is not NEAR Roswell, its IN Roswell. It's the southside of town! Even today in Roswell, we refer to the Southside as "the base"

I love the pictures, beautiful country. The speaker should really learn the correct pronunciation of the places and Indians.

Heres an idea. House homeless veterans at these bases, provide shelter, food, medical etc. In return the vets will agree to help rebuild the places, plant crops etc. Thereby working for their keep.

Fort Union. Not to be confused with Fort Union. 🤪

FYI… you have Fort Union listed twice in your review of abandoned military installations in New Mexico.

Yeah, I messed up. It was originally at number 10, then I moved it to 2 and didn’t edit number 10 later on. Have a great day and sorry for confusion!

Why did you describe Ft Union twice? At approx 8 1/2 minutes you discussed Ft Union, then did it again as nr10. Did you not edit?
