My favorite tip was "Use the camera you have" That is a true statement. You must practice to get better. Also, though not mentioned but implied, knowing your camera and its limitations is very key. I also think finding your style is very very very important! I know my style is B&W images with a nostalgic look. It is what I am very good at. I watch you because I enjoy your more dreamy take on portraits. THANKS as always for your cheerful explanations and grounded thoughts.

This is a great overview of all the things I have learned since last October when I purchased my first full frame camera. I am definitely taking the time to practice!
Tips: - You can shoot great photos with a 10-year-old camera and old lenses and it doesn't have to be a full-frame body, just pick any camera body that makes you comfortable when shooting and learn about lightning, compositing, and exposure before diving into expensive gears and those big aperture lenses.
From my own personal experiences i feel that people will respect you more and be more willing to allow you to take photos of them if you are using an actual camera then a smartphone camera. To them using a smartphone camera means you are not to be trusted.
I do agree to an extent. With the phone I meant more so about just using it to get out and shoot, to have a chance at being creative, etc. Some people will use not having a camera as an excuse to never get started, but you can definitely start with what you have right now :)
I don't think I've heard a clearer explanation or tutorial on white balance than the simple sentence "If your indoor photos look too orange, that's white balance." So thank you for that!
I came here to tell you that i pre ordered Aperty because of you helping with it. So we need it to have ability to remove glare from glasses with a slider, remove wrinkles from clothes and backdrops, change backgrounds. It need to be equivalent or better than Evoto. Being that you are a portrait photographer, i trusted your input and pre ordered.

7:28 - ISO does not add noise. The amount of noise depends on the lighting. ISO allows you to see more/less of the noise that is already there. 😉 You can test this by taking two different photos in bad and slightly better lighting conditions. The first photo will have much more noise than the second. Then you can take the photo in a well-lit room and with a high ISO. The noise will not be there. 😉
Hi Julia, Great video as always ❤ I have a question hope to get your feedback 🙏 please I saw your review videos for Tamron lens 70-180 g2 for Sony and the 35-150 lens as well, and I a bit confused as you mentioned that the image quality and the bokeh that the 70-180 g2 is producing is impressive in away that gave me impression it's not the same with the 35-150. I'm in the search to buy one of the 2 lenses, and I feel going to the 70-180 g2 based on the images quality you show in your review plus your comments about how beautiful is the bokeh. Altho the 35-150 is all in one lens. Hope you please guide and advise. I'm more into portrait and events photography. Thanks so much in advance.
Thank you! Both are great lenses with good performance, sharpness and bokeh. The differences will come down to your personal preferences and what you need the lenses for. I think something to keep in mind is while the 35-150 is more versatile, it is very heavy so it could be more difficult to use for long days/travel, etc. But since you are doing events, I would lean towards this one!
Aperture always throws me off, especially when it comes to choosing the right aperture for group shots. The depth of field depends on so many factors-like the aperture, focal length, and distance to the subject-and it's hard to figure out which f/stop to use. I wish there was a straightforward rule to follow. For instance, I've seen group photos taken at f/1.8, like with groomsmen at weddings. In my mind, I'd hesitate to shoot such a scenario at anything less than f/5.6 to ensure everyone stays in focus, especially since they're on different focal planes. Any advice for this? Or maybe a good topic for a new video?
I can make the Julia Trotti special even shorter: buy a camera with a 1.4 prime, go into aperture priority, take some tape and fix that aperture ring to 1.4, then start hitting the shutter :D
Can you do some challenges here on RUclips so that people can learn photography. You tell in a compact way everything to know about the topic and your viewers go outside and practice the topic.

I upload bts videos all the time! A day in the life will come around when I upload my travel vlogs which I am a little behind on.. I film from morning to night during those!

With cameras… “Auto” = no control Program = allows one to set under/over exposure Role of half-pressed shutter in fixing exposure (and focus) With cameras, the reasons why the middle of every scale (shutter speed, aperture, ISO … and, in a different sense, focal length) does so much of the work: slower than 1/125, 1/60… 1/30; wider than, or at f/4, f/2.8, f/2, f/1.4; ISOs 640, 1600… 3200. That all those scales allow steps (“stops”) that allow doubling. That this is true of aperture, expressed as a fraction f/… What happens if you go towards the extremes of the scales. The way focus (“depth of field”) stretches…. As it goes away … to about 15m. In other words how focus becomes more critical nearer the camera. Why lenses are thought of in terms of their fastest apertures. Viewfinders vs. EVF The fact that all digital cameras are marvels of technology… there are no real duds. RAW and the rewards of software post-processing
@@juliatrotti, you talk focal length of lenses as if full frame were the norm, the only, format. Perspective of lens length is related to sensor size. (Micro four thirds? Most cameras have what is often called a ‘cropped’ sensor.) Sensors of 100mexapixels, 33megapixels! You are from another planet. There are very expensive ‘professional’ cameras with that kind of pixel count. 26 has been a standard for some years. There are lots of great, slightly older cameras with less. Frame rate is seldom used by anyone except sports photographers and weak fashion photographers… because it can be hard to distinguish one frame from another once you have piles and piles on your computer.
