I was on the other team this game. We got stomped because they had scopes and we had irons. All fights were like 300 meters. The next game got down to 10 tickets both sides since the factions were evenly matched I was driving that logi that Drew was shooting at and turned around.

I think TTK and Desync issues were culprits It was also mainstream to release a game every single year (still is), so it didn't really get the support or fixes it deserved before BF4 came rolling out the next year. Squad could definitely use some windage physics. Having seen both the perspective of marksmen and the people getting shot at by said marksman, the risk of being always one shot away from being instakilled from a sniper/marksman is just way too high in the game, and even though the shots are by no means easy, I wouldn't exactly consider them hard either. I've spent a significant amount of time doing PVP missions in ArmA 3, and I can tell you right now: all it takes to balance out any sniper/marksman rifle is windage. There's no chance in hell even the best sniper is going to land his first shot from over 600 meters away over 50% of time, purely because of drop and windage. It gives players time to react, and snipers a sense of difficulty.
This would actual be pretty cool to see in squad. All they'd have to do is add some flag poles to main and maybe one or two throughout the maps so snipers/marksmen can have some sort of idea which way the wind will take the bullet. But for sure would be an interesting idea

Assuming there's no other competent pilots, then you taking one shouldn't be an issue. 2. You took fire while trying to land. 3. You did not cause mass casualty during landing. Then again, if it's competitive server (not realism hardcore), then that's probably why you get booted. Realism players tend to worry less about KDA, rather on how smart your strategy, how well you communicate, etc. You can shoot five times and miss all but one, and they won't sweat it.
I remember in Arma 3 I put the heli on hover and I just spun it around and everyone thought they were gonna die. They all jumped out and died and I flew back to base 🤣
Why can't games like this make it into consoles.. Instead i gotta be stuck with call of duties and their 15yo players base jumping around with their pink guns and cat's ears skins, and Bugfield 2042 :(
Maybe you’ve heard of It by now but arma reforger is a really good tactical shooter on consoles sorta similar to this. It’s got mod support, battles on big and small maps, friendly fire incidents, everything you could want from a tactical shooter. It also takes place during the Cold War so ak 74 and m16A2 are going to be key identifiers for friendlies and enemies
Was in this game, don't recall which squad number but we had a 4 man across the river from you pretty much the whole game. 1 sniper, a marksman, a spotter kit, and a grenadier. Was a target rich match for sure.

My favourite Drewski videos are when he's in ground vehicles and helicopters. On foot is also lots of fun, especially when he tries to snipe people.
