Víkingur Ólafsson describes Rameau's "La Cupis" as follows: The character pieces stem from Rameau’s 1741 chamber music collection Pièces de clavecin en concerts, also prepared by the composer for solo keyboard. Here, the passage of time has rendered the titles somewhat enigmatic. “La Cupis” may be yet another feminine portrait, its potential namesake being Marie-Anne Cupis, a well-known dancer. Why not? Modulating between the minor and major keys, makes this piece very beautiful, and it ends in the minor key.

What a beautiful and transparent sound! A truly wonderful performance.
Considering this is played on a modern piano it's simply amazing.
Since outdated keyboard instruments sound like garbage, using a modern piano is the only way it could sound good.

I enjoyed listening and watching and have the CD. It sounds great on a sound big speakers. Not everyone can play like this...with emotion and technique. What next? Is there any movie music that you like? Any songs? And there is so much classical piano music that I have never heard.

Beautiful piece of music, I recommend however to close the eyes and not to watch the video.
@@ChildrenNeedRights I agree, however I don't think it's pretentious at all. Some shots are a bit stupid. I recommend you watch an actual baroque chamber orchestra perform this piece, it's infinitely better.
