Hey! It's the Ana here. Thanks so much for the review. It was very eye-opening, and I definitely learned new things about my gameplay that I was somewhat blind to (subconsciously, even). I'll just address some of the points you brought up, for discussion's sake. Wow, my positioning is... not great, to put it kindly :D Reflecting back after watching the whole video, I really think it's a case of me "autopiloting" once a fight starts, and the issue that my "autopilot" instinct is (whether I like it or not) probably more in tune with how a tank like Rein might play, something I alluded to in my r/OWU post but hadn't realized until now... which explains, maybe, the frontliner Ana behavior. Looking at some engagements (~9:00, 21:45, ~30:00, and the whole last fights) make the above point pretty clear to me. I start out each time in what are appropriate positions, since I've had time to think beforehand (as I walked from spawn, for example), only to make very short-sighted decisions right after, negating any benefit from the prior positioning (the EMP radius one was particularly heartbreaking to see). You've hit the nail on the head on describing my play as lacking adaptability. About ult tracking, I definitely do this as a habit picked up starting from Rein shatter matchups all the way to (a vague attempt at) full team tracking. What I didn't realize is that I need prioritize tracking different ults depending on the matchups, especially since different things are threatening to a Support (i.e. I'd say it's less valuable to track Pulse Bomb as a Tank than it is as a Support, whereas it'd be the opposite for Transcendence as an example, though obviously they're valuable to track). It gets really nuanced, which is what we love about this game ahaha! I was tracking the enemy Tank's ult this game, like you noticed with the Hog, but indeed, not at all with the DPSes. Ability-wise... my self-evaluation was rather egoistic, in hindsight. Not my weakest link, but still :> I think I've been scapegoating my mechanics for too long - time to drill down on positioning 101, which is not a sentence I thought I'd have to say to myself again. I'm just happy to hear the improvements I can make are more proactive/cerebral than purely practice/over-time. I can start applying your advice immediately - which I really appreciate about your review/coaching style, along with the depth and overall empathy in your analysis. I might just send in another review later on, once I feel a plateau approaching on what you've discussed~ Thanks again for the review! Hope to see your channel grow quick, very much deserving of it.
Thank you for the kind words man! I know it kind of sounds ridiculous, but I like to describe GM as players who have mastery over all the fundamentals. They may not be flashy, but they know how to position vs multiple comps, they know who to shoot when, and they know when to use their abilities. I bet you can get there if you just fix your positioning and improve your aim a little, I mean it. Also, I am more than happy to give you another review in the future. I think it’s awesome to see players progress over time and wish I had more opportunities to do so, so please don’t hesitate to contact me after you believe you have fixed some of the issue in this vod. Thanks for the video! I was a little surprised as I am Diamond Dps/Support on PC and I felt like this looked like maybe mid Silver? I learned a few things so much appreciated. ❤
The difference between Console and PC is pretty big. When I switched from console to PC back in 2018ish, I dropped from diamond to gold even though I wasn’t playing aim intensive heroes
