He not only immediately knew what the separate words meant but he knew that they were Greek. This person is a true master. Just mind-blowing.
I am impressed. I read classical civilisation at university. Even I would be pushed to spell it right, despite my study of ancient Greek and Latin
Congratulations to him! (When I was in the 5th grade and was in the regional spelling bee, my family got bored, left, and waited for me in the car.)
Don't make the same mistake as your family. From your own experience you never forgot. A period of 4hrs of not feeling supported by those you most loved, engrained a lifetime lasting poor memory.
An emotional trauma for sure
Y’all should’ve seen his second to last word 😭 it was super long with silent letters and he INSTANTLY knew how to spell it without asking for any of the info. It was insane
Woah! Thank you for telling us this!
What is that word second to last?
@@princianorvz I think it was this one: bathypitotmeter
Bathypitotmeter, /ba-thee-pih-tow-mee-tur/, is not actually that bad.
Greek: Bathy- (deep)
Eponym: Henry Pitot
Greek: -Meter (used for measuring)
I would say either schistorrhachis or Perioeci was his hardest word.
In a world where.most people don't know when to use their, there or they're and lose or loose it's great to see that some kids still learn how to spell. Congratulations!
I'll go-along-with that.
Is that really important?
@@willowsky7670No , but it shows that you are willing to put in dedication towards something to that extent. That almost guarantees success.
I have no idea who this kid is but I am so proud of him!

What a legend!
Congratulations 👏!
I know your family is so proud of you.
Congratulations Dev Shah!
You could see his excitement when he got that word. He knew how to spell it and was going to win. Very happy for him.

I loved having spelling bees in class…I wonder if they still do them today?
They obviously do.
I wonder if teachers still say there are no dumb questions 🤔
Since time immemorial, Indians continue to win the Spelling Bee. The most hard working community in the US.
All hardwork worth for USD

🎉🎉 Congratulations 🎉🎉
Microsoft Word doesn't even recognize this as a real word and marks it as a typo! That's how you know this kid is the real deal! What a champ!

They made 80% of the contestants.
No; that would be the Chinese. And, unlike the Indians, they focus their studying and work on things that ACTUALLY MATTER..... 😏
I wonder through what ringer those Indian parents but him through to get them a trophy. This is like their favorite status contest.
Look into the docs on them. They mostly come families with strong academic background. They choose to do this on their own. You can bring a horse to water, you cannot make it drink.

Outstanding achievement young man!
Can Scripps just go to... India and host the spelling bee there instead?
It's just shows the ethnic brilliance of a race of people. Dig deeper as to why most brilliant CEOs, engineers, etc come from India. Hard work is one thing but there's a culture of educational brilliance which is hard coded into their DNA. Research more on how a lot of Mathematics which is credited to Newton, Leibnitz, etc actually has Indian roots (look for Madhava) that were intentionally suppressed by the colonial and western nations, you'll then know where brilliance stems from.😮

@RareAirTwo4 let's see you memorize big difficult words and the definition? put you on the big stage and see how you do 😂 only thing you'll remember is EBT and the definition you'll get is sponge, hand out, jobless, wasteful, if used in a sentence?
