He was the master of the fifteen-to-one sketch that they'd put on at the end of the show. He ruled that territory and made it the most interesting part of nearly every episode.
I've heard this was a bit he came up with at the Groundlings and used to do all the time. Comics all loved it but Lorne or the other producers felt it was too weird to make it on air.
@@davidgrenier Lorne has always been way too conservative with a lot of the mediocre sketches that make it to air. I feel like SNL could use a lot more super bizarre, absurdist, WTF humor like this. Another one of Will Forte's sketches I really love is the NASA skit where Jason Sudeikis vomits up a potato chip into his hand. And of course, Clancy T. Bachleratt and Jackie Snad singing Easter duets. So stupid but pure genius.
@@cahinton. MacGruber is a testament to Forte's wit and comedic timing. They should have definitely let the newer cast get away with more bizarre sketches. Looking back at the early days of SNL, there's some absolute madness.
Been waiting so long for them to release this. The 'wrong' is so perfectly delivered. Always puzzled me why SNL kept trying to get rid of Chris Parnell. Never cracked but was never critical of co-stars who did and just kept a sketch motoring when the wheels were falling off
@@crispytg: Only kinda. He was fired twice, both times due to budget cuts. The first time, after his 2nd season, Will Ferrell lobbied hard to get him back. The second time was after his 8th season, & he said he was cool with it; he's made guest-appearances on the show a few times since then.
I remember when this and Cowbell was completely removed from the internet and it was nearly impossible to find them I'm glad to see these classics back for our amusement.

I’m so glad that this was my era of SNL. Being a teenager; staying up late on Saturdays watching this cast & The Lonely Island. Wonderful memories.
I love how the audiences laughs and then it dies down and then it comes back even harder when they realize he's going to keep this going.
