  • Hey Everyone! Thank you for being here today. I’m so happy you are here with me today to see what I created. If you are new to my channel, I’m so happy you have found me and I hope you enjoy what you see. It’s great to have you here. If you are a returning creative friend - thank you so much for your unending support; it really does mean a lot.
    Today’s piece is inspired by: BR Turner Art - I see so many wonderful creations using a dustpan I thought i'd give it a go myself.
    Technique used: Using the dustpan I pour the paint from the dustpan onto the canvas to create a really bright and vibrant piece; inspired by BR Turner Art.
    What I learnt: It's not as easy as it looks! It takes a lot of practice. The key here is to create the design in the dustpan before you pour - your consistency is key too.
    Colour palette: multi colours!
    Time Stamps: If you want to go to a specific section of the video, here are the main segments:

      Thank you Linda, they are ready mixed paints I was using/testing so not sure what their ingredients are (not listed on the label). I added a little water so some of them to create greater flow but could have added a lot more. Thank you for your lovely words of encouragement 💜

    I loved how it looked after the first pour and tilting. Then you grabbed the dustpan again and wow it just evolved so much!
    Do the better quality paints crack less even when they are thick on the canvas?
    I think it might be some of the cheaper paints I'm using. Have really enjoyed doing some of those open Dutch pours, but they all seem to be cracking on me.
    P.S. Yes to Ice Cream!

    • @MarkJRatcliffeArt
      @MarkJRatcliffeArt  Год назад +1

      Thank you so much Amy. There could be various reasons you’re getting cracking, let me help:
      1) paint quality - if you water the paint down too much say for a Dutch pour, if you’re not using a quality paint the binder in the paint may break down. Good quality acrylic paints do allow you to water down quite a bit more than craft paints
      2) if the paint is thick on the canvas and not a consistent layer on the canvas then when it dries it will dry at different rates and cause cracking
      3) the temperature in the room your painting is in is not a consistent temperature hot/cold/warm changes can create the cracks too
      4) cracks might appear if you have an oil on the canvas (if you’ve handled the canvas quite a lot your natural oil (hands) might have transferred onto the canvas
      Hope that helps 😊😊😊
