Suzuki Jimny 2019 - Stock vs Modified - Off-Road

- The Suzuki Jimny has been one of the most talked-about new 4x4s this year. And one of the questions we always get asked is, when we're going to put a stock Jimny up against a modified one...well, we've gone one better than that. We've put a stock Jimny against two modified Jimnys. And it was snowing.

Turn off the "background" music. It's too much in the "foreground", can't hear what you guys say.
you needa get your hearing checked.
@@94SexyStang you need to get your eyes checked. Read other people's comments.
ohh boohooo...
100% agree
It's good to now I am not the only one who compline about that
Kindly, shoot the editor who added this atrocious music.
...and the one who decided to not use professional sound equipment for sound recording...it's a shame.
rock babe, we need rock.
Two words: "sidechain ducking". Fucking simple, but apparently, too hard for some.
Thank you!
yeah. that's a bitchy idea to put door bell sound inside the music..
Crappy music - super loud...You talking - super quiet...FIX that
Ditch the music people. I want to hear you talk and the sound of the cars.
Sow Son 100% agree about the music it’s distracting
Jimnys dont really make a sound that you'd find enjoyable
But 100% would rather hear the car than the music
Agreed
Couldn't hear you talk. Ditch the music
I agree with you 100%
Really nice video but music is soooo annoying .
Can't hear shit
@@estefano9e can you repeat that..
I think this video would be better with no music.
Huh? WHAT???
Right
Never underestimate the off road capabilities of a Jimmy. They might be small, but they can easily keep up with the big boys!
Keep up with big boys? That is a serious underestimation. Throw Jimny into sand next to some overweight Patrol or Hilux and those trucks will have trouble to keep up with Jimny :D
Its the other way round, can the big boys keep up with a Jimny.
If you get a Jimmy stuck, you can literally carry it out! That is how good it is and that is how it can challenge the big, fat and obese boys like the Patrol, LandCruisers and the rest of those truly big and heavy rigs.
@Spikey Scenes I think little lift doesn't hurt anyone (only your wallet). Increased wheel articulation means better traction and this video confirms it.
@@myytchannel6632 Very True on literally carrying it out.Indian Army special forces dismantle the car and carry it in parts on special operations.Once back on a clearing they set it up again and off they go.Its called Suzuki Gypsy(the sierra version).Very similar to a pitchjng a tent.8 para commandoes divide the load ,)
Give a like if you would take a Suzuki over the new defender!!
Id take it over any new suv😂😂
@@jaskatin I would say most but not all.. it just keeps things so simple and to the point.. no bs..
I mean sure, im a bit of a suzuki fanboy anyway😂
@@jaskatin never owned a zuki car.. but all my street bikes have been zukis.. so I can't say I don't have a bias myself.. but this new jimny is awesome! I also wish I could get my hands on a Lada from Russia.
@@mattsalon7007 lada is bull shit - worst car in Russia
finally! an actual in depth off road review. well done guys. the best video showing the jimny i have seen. great to have modified and stock too for comparison!
I bought a Jimny because of how much fun you guys were having, I just had to have one!
Everybody has already mentioned the music, so I'll just say: Awesome video! So cool not only to compare stock to a pure offroad set up, but also throw in a middle way version! Thanks 👊🏼
Great content and great to see a Jimny comparison!! They look even better modified. Suzuki did a spot on job staying true to their philosophy with the Jimny than Land Rover did with the new Defender.
I love that little monster, you buy it and you have a mini Wrangler, Defender, G Wagon, Land Cruiser J 40, Niva but in the end you still have a Suzuki!! This little thing managed to tow a stack wrangler rubicon in the woods that couldn't even move and everybody lost our minds
This really looks like a lot of fun. I'm not really a big fan of off-roading, but looks like having a Jimny could give you that peace of mind that if ever you find yourself lost in the middle of nowhere with no paved roads, the Jimny is more than enough to get you out in one piece.
If you get far enough with the 40 liter petrol ^^
Only fools travel that far without carrying spare gas and besides Jimny has better mileage so it doesnt need to refill as much as other big rigs like Jeep and Toyota that swallows gas like blackhole@@derdummeasi
my sister has one and everytime she goes off on a travel I make it my own....it's wonderful!
Self confessed hard core Landrover fan but those Jimny's look so much fun. Great review thanks lads.
Grate video lads, really enjoyed it. Love Jimny. ❤️
Wow, what a lovely song that was, i was hoping the video will never end.
Why have the music? The volume is too high compared to the voices. Also why that music? Its not a 'hard core' US mudding show.
Great to see an Aussie 4x4 clip in the snow 😀
I live in hope of a 6x6 twin-cab.
Ive fitted multi-function master blaster boomers on all 4 corners. The synchronization of the platelets is remarkable. The zoom raiders in sequence with the drop forged cram-rods gives me all the torue punt i need.
So good set of tyres, a lift and possibly locking diffs and you're set.
The sandy color one with the lift and big tyre's looks really badass im not gone lie.
Man, Suzuki really nailed it when they designed the new Defender!
Subscibed because this review was great!
i reckon these will be the most popular 4x4 in about 25 years, they are the last 4x4 still made that is comparable to the good old 80s and 90s trucks. when they start rusting away and the last ones are smashed up these will be the one to have. can’t wait till second hand ones start selling cheap, i’ll be picking one up for sure once my ‘90 samurai starts falling apart
5:45 - "this is so smooth" - followed by Rolls Royce like smooth ride video! LOL.
Great little car.
Would have one in a heartbeat,,and definitely before the new”Defender “. Few cheapish mods and it kills bigger stuff. Awesome bit of kit!!
Ordered mine in May, I’ll drive it one day.... next year!
Did you buy it
Incredible video!!!
Could you do the same video about the previous jimny model?(1999-2018) please!!!
Thank you very much!
Love you guys
Thanks for a good, well put together clip👍
Suzuki, if you’re listening, please bring these back to America!
You, me and 4 million more people would have to buy one for it to be profitable for them. But they don't need the North American market anymore. We shit on Suzuki for years, now they have an awesome Jimny America desperately wants but can't have.
Wouldn't be wide enough for the required gun rack ? :)
David Anderson M4 carbine would fit easily.
No Jimny for you!
Can you not get it in Mexico or Canada and just cross the border? I know I’m might be talking out of ass here hey!
We need these in the states.
Suzuki left Canada but a dealer in my city imports these straight from Japan.. They are right hand drive.. I have one, and being Japanese, i like right hand drive lol
I'm just gonna buy one in Mexico and bring it to the states. Fun little ranch vehicle
G Attilla how do you do that?
@@radius8283 resident in Mexico purchased and drive it here and then leave it on the ranch. No longer street legal. Kinda like a side-by-side.
G Attilla how much are they?
Id love to see the capabilities of a jimny on full load (roof top tent, bullbar, camping supplies, all the good) and see how she handles. I'm looking at getting one and with that tiny engine I'm thinking I might have to resort to a air rooftop tent
Ideal as a city car or a hardcore off-roader, two things that don’t often go together. Also a great daily driver, good gas mileage and sight lines. Like a motorcycle with weather protection and cargo capacity. On the other hand, definitely not good for long road trips. It’s a kei car that thinks it’s a Wrangler, and it’s just one of the best vehicles in the entire world, IMO. Bravo, Japan, you guys make great cars.
Good One Guys. Thank you. i was already thinking of the 2-inch lift and a 215 tire only. My choice too.
The white one (60mm lift) looks great.. Cool video.
Great video, those Jimny's look like a lot of fun! Great image quality but music was louder than your voice.
Modifications look good.
Jimny did a great job, staying true to it's DNA.
There should be more cars like the jimny. Every other comparable car got more expensive for 15 years. Defender, Jeep, G-Wagon, Land Cruiser and so on are luxury cars now. Off Road cars are for fun or work and not for cruising. I dont need that much multimedia, luxury and innovation if it raises the cars price by 10 grand or more. Even a fucking golf is expensive now.
I want one but alas I am in the USA. Super jealous I love basic lightweight vehicles. I hope they come to our market one day. I would buy one for sure.
My Dad had an LJ10 - the first of these. Bloody mountain goat that was. One day when Suzuki decide to reasonable with their pricing again, I'll proudly own one of these or if I can find one, the original.
That's the miniature land rover defender that land rover isnt building anymore!
The music killed this.
I miss my Samurai, I would have definitely bought a Jimney is they were sold in the US! But unfortunately I’ll just have to enjoy watching others have fun with theirs ❤️
Sadly no Suzuki in Canada, but I would definitely own one of these!
Great video, keep them coming please
Would love to know what other mods were done to that "touring" model and what difference all that extra kit makes compared to the "big truck"
How was the gearing on the Jimmy with the 29’s on?
A great video to show what the new Jimny, even in std. form, is capable of. I would have the in-betweeny with the bigger tyres is possible.
I own a Jeep rubicon hard rock stock with lockers and sway disconnects and it does just fine off-road with my bf Goodrich mud terrain . I think the little stock Zuzuki did just fine. Great video👍👏👏👍👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
great video but we almost can't hear you guys because of the music!
My God, that was satisfying to watch.
The white modded one looks a bit like a miniature J70 Landcruiser, which is cool
Chippy McChipface More likely a refrigerator instead of LC 😄
@@brsdmrc
I'm thinking lj70/kzj70.
Thanks. Great video. Do you incluye lock differentials in the modiffied jimnies? They never slip on mud! Cheers from Mexico
Great review thanks. One question I have could the Suzy tow a small camper such as the Tucana teardrop.
If they would sell me one in the US, I’d stop sending them threatening letters.
Deal, Suzuki?
Great vid guys 👍. Sorted!
The loud background music! It was an off roading experience for my ears though 🤞
Would love to know all the specs of the two modified Jimny's. Is there an article companion to this video?
yes pls.
G'day Mate, here's the link to the article magazine.unsealed4x4.com.au/en_US/15681/229284/suzuki_jimny%3a_stock_vs_mod.html
Great video. Thanks. All automatic or manual shift gear?
Great video guys, where abouts in NSW was this filmed?
Are brake limited differentials of stock good enough? did you feel the need to upgrade diff locks?
Would like a short summary of what the modified versions are like on the highway, more for what its like to live with modified, rather than capability.
Except the 6 cm lift and the tires, did you do any modding on the car (SPRINGS SHOCKS), or everything is stock??? I`m considering getting one from 2010-2011 and I wonder if it`s a good choice thinking about the 1.5 Renault engine. Gonna use it mainly for sandy offroad cuz I live next to the sea and maybe some winter mountain snowy tracks but nothing extreme.
Can you please indicate the mods done on the 2 modified jimnys? I'm doing some research for some future upgrades. Thanks
Nice vídeo, nice and good drivers!!!!
How did they modified suspension lift kits fare on the highway compared to the stock? Is there any improvement?
No. It gets a bit more sensitive for road imperfections. Mine is like that, but for some reason I like it.
these jimny are my dream car
Love the little Suzuki. Sadly I live on the US it will be impossible to get one. I guess I'll try to keep my 1986 Jimny running forever.
I truly wish I could buy one of those Jimmy's. That would be the perfect vehicle for me right now. Sadly we do jot have it here in the US indeed.
Mine is 88 off road only welded rear end and 29" swampers and will go anywhere (USA)
Get one from Mexico?
Private grey import to the USA allowed?
what are the power-up options for the jimny?
The music in the background made it perfect 👌🏼 I really noticed it
Sierras that flex? When did this happen?
Kudos to Suzuki for the new Sierra. Absolutely awesome little rig.
An off road LC Prado !? No way !!! 😍🤩🤩
Very good, I'm considering getting one for daily driving and trips close to home, so my touring Hilux doesn't have to do everything. Just gotta find one for close to RRP, the price has gone crazy with demand. Seeing it on that step, where I've often posed my fourbies for photos, gives me a good idea of how much clearance they have.
Find one? Lol
Do the control arm bushes still click-clack when articulating?
Hello,
Where did you buy the roof rack? I live in Peru
What are the difference between 2 modified versions? tires and suspension on both of them or just tires on chiffon ivory color and tires and suspension on white? Thank you
Great video!!
But they don't have any difflocker do they? Do they have some other system that transfers the power to the tires that actually have grip?
Does anyone know what wheels the extremely modified ones have and what other modifications they’ve done to it? Like the lift kit etc?
Man i wish we could still get one in the USA
They look like great fun 👍
just as we thought spring was here, mate
What suspension is being run in the two lifted jimnys
Is it worth going bigger than a 2 inch lift with bigger tires on a sierra ?
What's better for offroad between manual or automatic
Been contemplating buying one for a while now. I think off-road wise it's a good car. Not so sure on the tarmac.
what do all those mods do to fuel consumption and on road handling etc???
If available in usa I'd buy one , had a samurai and it went everywhere near stock
I'd really like for Suzuki to import these to America 🙁
It would be a great New version of the Samurai
They are already in a huge production backlog. You won't be getting them boy - we need them in Europe 😛
@union310 yeah, in remember that but just barely. I'm pretty sure with the way things are now, Suzuki would get a fair shake at things.
Just need to be able to pass the safety standards. Given that Suzuki still has a good market here in the U.S. those things would fly off the lots
Devil's Doorbell I’ve been replying on car ads and videos for almost a decade that we want bare bones no options simple and boxy styled vehicles.......... I’ve had replies back that I am stupid, or ignorant. Now this jimny is back ordered for over a year in other countries!
I'd be interested in getting one. I built a samurai into a mini crawler. It gets around really well. One of these would be a great starting point.
Do you have list of mods somewhere?
Nice review but no mention of the tire size effect on gearing, fuel economy, acceleration etc
at 7:53 it looks like the LHR wheel is coming off. nice little vehicle
Great video! Where is the trail in nsw ??
incredible review, but what is the price difference of each improvement
Great video. Wish we had them in Canada
Hi, cool comparative video.
One question, it is known that 215/75/15 tires will fit without having any part of the wheel rubbing against any part of the vehicle and without any sort of modifications; is it the same for 235/75/15?
Thanks
Yes even 235/75/15 doesn't need any alteration or lift.
Which lift kits..??
I'm looking at Iron Man
Great vid
Thoughts on a racing seat harness set up? I'm seeing a lot of jiggle but if you had a proper harness that stuck you in the chair I could see that as a winner.
sure would like a breakdown between the 3 vehicles, one that i can hear at least! all i heard really was 29' tires..
