I finally finished my quilt and gave it to my grandson who is off to college! Your tutorial was spot on - it was my first quilt and it came out perfect! Thank you!
THANK you so much for these videos! I’ve made the top following your instructions. Now I’m quilting it by this method. The quilt is huge, 6x6 setting, so about 90 inches square. With batting. Heavy. Thank you!
I'm learning SO much watching your wonderful, instructional videos! Thank you! You're like my new favorite person! I've been saving my kids sports t-shirts FOREVER just hoping I'd learn how to make them a special quilt someday! You're Awesome! :)
Laura, I enjoy your videos so much. And I truly appreciate this one. My nephew performs in plays and has been waiting two years for his. You have simplified my mind! Thank you, Phyllis
I am addicted to your videos! Your instructions are so helpful and it truly makes sewing a lot of fun! Thanks again for sharing how to quilt the Tshirt quilt!
I made a t-shirt quilt for a friend's daughter, but I did it traditionally with batting and a white muslin backing. I had to put it aside (out of extreme frustration!!) because every time I tried to free motion quilt it, the thread would break on me. I finally got it done, 2 years later, by using a denim needle (16/100) and 40 wt Aurifil thread in my machine. It was not easy, and would definitely try your method if I ever make one again! BTW, my friend was thrilled with the quilt, she really loved it.
I looked up the thread, Aurifil 2370 - the color is called Sandstone. Great instructions, thank you so much. I wish I could post my t-shirt quilt for you to see. 25 marathon shirts from my husband's collection. We're going to add up the miles and I'm adding that number to the label.
I am doing that with a denim quilt I am making from old jeans, I am just using a flannel backing as it will be more than enough weight. Thanks Laura, I always look forward to your videos!
I have made several tshirt quilts but I made flying geese for my sashing strips and checkers board sashing instead of just plain strips it turned out fabulous! I bought the tshirt ruler with several patterns included with it. I did use batting and a white backing and they were all beautiful.
Love the idea of doing the simple quilting standing up and "driving" the walking foot like that. You make it look like such fun! It seems like it would eliminate the usual stress on the shoulders and back from sitting and leaning forward with closer, more detailed quilting. But I see you're a better driver than I am :-) so I might need to steer that walking foot with a bit of a swagger-wave stitching as it would be difficult for me to keep it straight across the whole block and diagonal seam from edge to edge. Yes, that girl is going to be very happy to receive it. Have you decided what fabric color you're going to use for the binding? I'm guessing it might be the light sashing.
Thanks for this and the how to make a TShirt Quilt video. You answered so many questions for me!! One thing I still wonder though, if I do add batting to mine how do I know if I’m doing enough quilting stitch over top to properly secure it? Any rules of thumb or anything to help me decide?
I love the idea of not using batting. My question is this...how do you keep everything straight? I don't want any bunching or crinkles, so I'm not sure how to proceed.
Making my first t-shirt quilt. Watched both of your videos, but have a couple questions. What exactly was your backing made of and how did you fuse it to the front, before you quilted them? I've never have done binding, do you have a video for that?
I love you videos. I am making my 1st t-shirt quilt for my granddaughter. I am following all your steps and have all the blocks sewn together. Now I am ready to add the fleece backing. I have a few questions. 1. How do I calculate how much fleece to buy. 2 Do I use the same fusible backing to attach the fleece to the back of the t-shirts?
I have looked far and wide but your videos are by far the best ones! the only question I have is: where did you buy the cotton back and the fabric borders?
What type of needle you you recommend for quilting on the tshirts? My tshirt blocks alternate with cotton fabric pieced blocks. I used a quilting needle, size 90, for the cotton fabric. I also used a batting(like Warm and Natural but by Pellon). I tried free quilting on a scrap tshirt and did not like it.
I just watched your how to quilt a t shirt quilt. What did you use to hold the top and back together prior to and during the quilting process? A fusible spray, perhaps?
Wonderful, wonderful; great ideal not to use batting. I made one for my husband and used batting, yes, it was very heavy. You noted that flannel is an option, if so what type? Keep up the great work!
I'm noticing one of the tshirts is from SC, yours is South County ours is South Carolina, our middle daughter played softball for a team called the Bandits...
I made my quilt into a duvet cover. so the top has various blocks and i then just stitch around each blocks sashing using my walking foot. it came out just right.
I am making a tshirt quilt for the young man in the photo. I have found your site very helpful. My question is do you recommend not using batting? Also, how do you recommend quilting it? Will it degrade the tshirts if you sew over the design? What do you think of using a tie off method instead? Thank you so much for your site. It is awesome. I am also making the denim quilt that you demonstrated. Thank you for your help!
I find these shirts are already a little heavy so I like just using a flannel back. No batting. You can definitely tie it but be sure your seams are secure when you do make the quilt top. Because t-shirt stretch a little bit it's easier for those seems to come apart. So be sure to knot each seam. Hope that helps
Laura, I like your idea of no batting, thank you. I see you have a Bernina with dual feed however you elected to use a walking foot. Why? I have a Bernina 880 but do not have a walking foot and what to use a long Serpentine stitch on a large t-shirt quilt do you think the dual feed will work or do I need to buy a walking foot. My old walking foot from my 730 & 830 does not fit. Just wondering your thoughts. Thank you.
Question, what are those 2 adorable covers sitting on the shelf behind you. one is black on the lower portion and the other is red. They have a retro fabric and are covering something....is there a tut for these and I want that fabric....please....TUinA
can you tell me for a queen size quilt making it like your design. how many tshirt you might need and about the about of black and pink too. thank you for helping. ;O)
good question however that will all depend on the size you cut the shirts. A queen batting is 90 x 108 if you make 18" blocks you will need 30 blocks / shirts
Hi Laura I have a baby panel of different size blocks on it some have pictures and some have pictures with saying on them and I am not sure what to do with it I am wondering if you can help me please with a tutorial if you have one how to make it look so adorable I do not know how to top quilt so I am looking for some simple ideas and easy.. thank you kindly.. I just love your tutorials.. :)
I started quilting a t-shirt quilt for a friend with dark flannel for backing and no batting. I also pinned basted but you didn't show that. Did you skip that?
I was told by my sewing machine dealer not to use spray basting adhesive because it gums up the needle and machine. How do you keep it from gumming up or is there a particular brand you use that doesn't. I have a Brother Simplicity SB 700T
I AM JUST GETTING READY TO QUILT MY "TEE SHIRT" QUILT AND THIS IS THE BEST, EASIEST WAY I HAVE SEEN. GONNA TRY IT. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Go to so very easy Facebook and you can post pictures there. Thank you very much
@@SewVeryEasy I didn't find your Facebook page - can you post a link?

Love the idea of not adding batting and making a lighter/thinner version. I'll have to start collecting t-shirts, rather than giving them away!
have fun!
I used your video to help me with my grandmother's t-shirt and I love how it turned out. Thanks.
I am doing that with a denim quilt I am making from old jeans, I am just using a flannel backing as it will be more than enough weight. Thanks Laura, I always look forward to your videos!
thank and it will make a great soft back")
You have taught me so much through the years. Thank you so much.
Thank you wonderful people showing us how so much - God Bless you for sharing your brilliant ideas ❤❤❤❤
I'm so glad you made this tutorial now. I'm getting ready to start my first t-shirt quilt and had no idea how I was going to quilt it. Thanks.
perfect timing:)
I really appreciate your video! It truly allowed me to complete a rather large t-shirt for my daughter. Thank you!
I have made several tshirt quilts but I made flying geese for my sashing strips and checkers board sashing instead of just plain strips it turned out fabulous! I bought the tshirt ruler with several patterns included with it. I did use batting and a white backing and they were all beautiful.
Isn't fun how many different ways you make make T-shirt quilts:) thanks for sharing
Hi Laura, catching up on all your videos since getting home from Quilt Canada. It was wonderful to meet you there.
It was great meting you too and thank for dropping by!
thank you so much- we have so many memories in our t's, and this will be a terrific way to display and reuse them!
thanks and have fun!
Easy, easy! Thanks Laura!
thanks
You are the best ! Love your tutorials !
Are you using a double sided fusible interfacing to attach the front to the back?
Love the idea of doing the simple quilting standing up and "driving" the walking foot like that. You make it look like such fun! It seems like it would eliminate the usual stress on the shoulders and back from sitting and leaning forward with closer, more detailed quilting. I used the same fabric as the back, black.
Army Green is "Olive Drab" (OD).
Thanks for this and the how to make a TShirt Quilt video. You answered so many questions for me!! One thing I still wonder though, if I do add batting to mine how do I know if I’m doing enough quilting stitch over top to properly secure it? Any rules of thumb or anything to help me decide?
I've made smaller T-shirt quilts but with batting. I will have to try the no batting and quilt on my domestic machine. Thanks for sharing.
have fun!
I love the idea of not using batting. My question is this...how do you keep everything straight? I don't want any bunching or crinkles, so I'm not sure how to proceed.
I love tee shirt quilt.

Gday Laura, Hope you are well? Really lovely quilt, such a great idea with the T Shirts as well. Thank you for sharing. X
Thanks and thank you for taking the time to watch:)

thanks:)
I love the no batting idea. Did you prewash the pink and black smashing/border strips?
I wash everything first:)
What size needle do you use in your machine? Did you have any issues sewing thru the fusible interfacing or the paint?
What type of needle you you recommend for quilting on the tshirts? My tshirt blocks alternate with cotton fabric pieced blocks. I used a quilting needle, size 90, for the cotton fabric. I also used a batting(like Warm and Natural but by Pellon). I tried free quilting on a scrap tshirt and did not like it.

Don't think I could manage to do it that way I can't stand , noticed no rings then you put on your quilting gloves 😍😍
It is not for everyone, you just keep enjoying what you do:)
What kind of fusible do you use for such a large quilt. Is it double sided?
Hi Laura, where can I view the next step to the completion of this T shirt quilt?
Wonderful, wonderful; great ideal not to use batting. I made one for my husband and used batting, yes, it was very heavy. You noted that flannel is an option, if so what type? Keep up the great work!
Just a good flannel. But please be sure to wash and dry it first:)
I'm noticing one of the tshirts is from SC, yours is South County ours is South Carolina, our middle daughter played softball for a team called the Bandits...
Do you have a tutorial on how you made the tshirt quilt? Love it 😍

Would you just se the BSR to quilt?
How do i bind this quilt so as not to obstruct the framed pattern

I notice that my machine doesn't want to feed over some graphic designs when quilting. Any suggestions?
Awesome! Keep it up!
thanks
What size sewing machine needle do you recommend for this quilting?
How do you fuse the layers?
Is there a video featuring the entire quilt being made? The link posted above does not work
Thank you so much! Very informative!
Did you spray baste the 2 layers together? If so did you spray in quadrants? If not how did you baste it I didn't see any pins
Cute idea. Thanks for sharing
thanks

I try to use what most others have or can get for their machine. Test it out first, it might be ok
How was the back fabric attached to the front T-shirt part? I got lost there but the rest was simple for me to follow.
It was a fusible interfacing
Hi love your videos. What kind of spray adhesive? I was told by my dealer it would gum up the machine.
you can get a nonstick needle www.schmetzneedles.com/category/SCHMETZ-SUPER-NonStick-Needles-69

What did u use between backing and frunt---stabilizer-like what and how? u moved
the quilt around and no worry
see if this will help ruclips.net/user/edit?o=U&video_id=rNrBz0Jz_nY
Loved this information
excellent video!
Hi Laura, love the video, can you tell me were do I get the thread that you used the number and who makes it. thanks
it was Aurifil Thread www.aurifil.com/ colour 2370
I'm making a t-shirt quilt for my daughter now and new to quilting. How about a tutorial on binding?
this might help ruclips.net/video/r8qzeOczXEo/видео.html
My TShirt quilt has a batting. Do I need to do more quilting on it than what you've shown in this video?
Yes I would
That thread was not locatable on the com you put in the link. Can you give more I do? Is this a normal thread or quilting thread?
It was just an all-purpose polyester thread. The polyester is a little bit stronger than cotton.
Laura, do you have a video for binding this quilt?
ruclips.net/video/r8qzeOczXEo/видео.html this is how I did it:)
Hi Laura I have a baby panel of different size blocks on it some have pictures and some have pictures with saying on them and I am not sure what to do with it I am wondering if you can help me please with a tutorial if you have one how to make it look so adorable I do not know how to top quilt so I am looking for some simple ideas and easy.. thank you kindly.. let me see what I can do:)
thank you laura just something cute but easy :)
I started quilting a t-shirt quilt for a friend with dark flannel for backing and no batting. I also pinned basted but you didn't show that. Did you skip that?
I spray basted so I didn't need pins, :)
I was told by my sewing machine dealer not to use spray basting adhesive because it gums up the needle and machine. How do you keep it from gumming up or is there a particular brand you use that doesn't. I have a Brother Simplicity SB 700T
I want you to have a recipe for skin wrinkles and be grateful to you
I want one too:)
great job keep it up
thanks
I don’t see any pins ...Did you pin it before you started quilting?
I sprayed basted first :)
How do you sew the edges of the entire quilt? And what if I am putting tshirts on both sides of my quilt? How would I go about sewing them together?
It would be a very heavy quilt if you did both sides but it can be done. Just quilt the two together:)
عوزين يكون مدبلج للعربي
very good
thanks
