      I got a echo sedan 2004 (sedans are hard to find here) with 169000 miles (272000 km.) two weeks ago. Here used Echos can run you an average of $3000 US or more depending on the condition. They do not lose there price. It cost me $2500 US. The seller was the second owner. The car once had taxi license plates since that guy used to use it at times has a taxi. The first owner had speaker amps. in the truck but the second owner sold them.
      My other car is a 2001 echo sedan. Also bought used. Bought it used a decade ago with 125000 miles (201000 km.) But that Echo cost $4500 US. The 2001 has 15 in. tires while the 2004 14 in. tires. Styling is different. The rear license plate is on the bumper for the 2001 while the 2004 has it on the truck. Truck lock is to the right on the 2001 while on the 2004 its on the middle of the truck. The 2004 really takes off. The 2001 seems a bit slower. Not sure if its true but some say the 2003 to 2005 Echos are lighter. Both are automatic with air conditioning.

    I know that area well. 20 years ago there was no gate on the road to the power plant, and no speedbump on that corner. I'd like to think that we were responsible for both, lol.

      Yea! They put speed bump all over, it was a popular drift spot.

    • @carnivorebear6582
      @carnivorebear6582 Год назад

      @joe fries I've modified the intake on mine too, sure sounds much better and I'm sure it does breath a little better too. It still begins to struggle to breathe at 5000ish+ according to my scantool data, not sure how much of that is primarily due to cam or exhaust though.

    • @joefries7046
      @joefries7046 Год назад

      @@carnivorebear6582 The trouble is we cant tune these things. or at least ive been told. If we could id get corolla injectors and throttle body anr port out the manifold mouth a bit. but i dont wanna mess with parts on stock tune to much. Do you have an information on tuning them?

    • @carnivorebear6582
      @carnivorebear6582 Год назад

      @joe fries Apparently the ECUs are pretty locked down, but locked down by 2000 standards probably doesn't mean that they for sure are. But there are no readily available tools for tuning so it'd be a pretty DIY affair, or involve putting in an aftermarket ECU like a Haltech.
      From looking at the injector timings on regular fuel the stock injectors are fine for stock airflow and aren't pushed right to the limit - at 6000rpm the theoretical max timing is 20ms (this would be injector on 100% of the time) and at WOT at normal operating temp 10-11ms is pretty typical. I've played around a bit with higher ethanol content fuel (around E40ish) and it kinda seemed to help up top but that's purely subjective I didn't have a scantool to look at data when I experimented with that. If you put in injectors that were slightly up-specced (within 25 %) the ECU should be able to able to adjust fuel trims to suit automatically, and you could always run higher ethanol content fuel to compensate a bit for injector being oversized.
      There might be some piggyback ECUs out there, I think that's what people have used for most turbo mods, but have no idea on what the availability is these days.
      If you can get the throttle body to fit and port the manifold you should get the benefits, the stock ecu will compensate just fine for the increased airflow (as long as it's still naturally aspirated). Only problem I foresee with the throttle body is if the throttle position sensors or idle air controllers are incompatible electrically and cannot be swapped.
