Movie Summary:

The saddest thing about the puppy's death was that she crawled over to John, leaving a trail of blood, before she died.
Keanu did all his fighting!!! Watch his behind the scenes training for shooting and fighting. He does Brazilian jujitsu and has been doin it for years. Slogs shooting has been reacted to by cops and other professionals and they all say he’s got REAL shooting skills. The behind the scenes training is SWEET to watch
just about the ONLY stunt Keanu didn't do was the fall in the Club at the end of the fight with the mini-boss. Insurance company wouldn't sign off on it.

not sure if you guys caught it, but the dog that John takes was scheduled to be euthanized in the AM according to the card on the cage door.. Redemption and second chances play a lot into the John Wick universe. A common phrase you'll hear is "go home", "lets go home", etc.. "Going home" or "gone home" has a slightly dark meaning to it when you consider that it's sometimes used to describe someone who's passed away.. -- The bellman at the hotel is kind of a supernatural character as well. His name tag reads Charon. In mythology, Charon was the ferryman who shuttled people between the land of the living and the land of the dead. You'll also notice, that no matter what time it is... Charon is ALWAYS there at his post.

I wouldn’t say the scene with jimmy the police officer was needed but it was a great scene because it was part of the world building this movie does. That the police are aware of the whole assassin underworld and that there is possibly an accord between the two worlds, that they leave the assassins to go after people the cops may not.
Also Reeves may be Neo to him but to me he was first and foremost Ted "Theodore" Logan.
Yep - the killings were mob only hits. John didn't take out any innocent civilians. Besides, Jimmy knows that John would just erase him, and they would never find his body.
Well, u shouldn't forget that event be beggars are all assassins in JW 2.

A lot of people already commented on the fighting stunts Keanu does. I like to mention the gun work. Watch the vids online about him running speed courses with several different guns. It was very important for them to show a sequence of gunfire and show JW stop and reload. In most movies it shows it taking a time or they just skip it all together. Here they show how fast it can be done without breaking stride.

Fun Fact: According to Keanu Reeves, he did 90% of his own stunts in the film and memorized the nightclub fight sequence the day that the scene was filmed.
Bonus Fact: The security guard who waves Wick onto the airport runway is reading the 1970s thriller novel "Shibumi" by Rod Whitaker, under the pen name Trevanian, also about a retired master assassin dragged back into the game. The story Viggo tells about how Wick once killed three men "with a pencil" is describing a crucial scene from the same novel.
I love how much respect and appreciation Keanu personally gives to stunt crews.
It's incredible and almost unbelievable to me that they went to such lengths to bring that level of detail to the lore and world building, yet no one at any point googled baba yaga and realized they're not using it properly.
Yeah, the studio lawyers basically nixed hitting Keanu Reeves with a car or throwing him off a 2nd floor balcony in the club.

One of the great things about this movie is they kept track of bullet counts and show3 him reloading.
3:40 Beagles are actually one of the most vocal (loudest, noisiest) dog breeds around. (The dog in the movie was well-trained, which was why it acted as cute and respectful as it did.) They're also sight hounds, which means they'll bark at anything that interests them. ("Hey, look, I found a bird! It's bird! Looky-looky! A bird! And a lizard! Look, dad, look, mom, look! A lizard! I found it! And there's another doggie . . . ") Just make sure you can handle that, if you intend to get one. :-)
He was Bill and Ted for me , he was Constantine, he was even Johhny Mnemonic , hes done so many movies before this , hes a great actor and a great guy

The reason John didn’t kill him at the time was because John wanted him to know the true meaning of fear before killing him.
2 things:
1) "Francis" at the Red Circle told John he lost 28kg (which was translated to over 60 pounds for American audiences) -- John killed 28 guards in the Red Circle.
2) The writer of John Wick also wrote Nobody and confirmed in an interview that they are in the same universe.
Funny thing, but he said 20 kg, not 28 kg. One of the the times when subtitles and actual speech doesn't match up
Adrianne Palicki is the actress who fought John Wick in the hotel room and played Ms. Perkins. It was cool watching her apply the Kimora, to the improvised gi choke she used with her coat, as well as the crucifix transition and the awesome body triangle and rear naked choke. She had not grown up doing martial arts but got intense training for 4-5hours a day for 5 months preparing for the role. Keanu did the same, and their trainers were the Machado brothers. 1. the reason he missed "Theon" in the bath house is because he was shooting through glass at a bit of an angle. Bullets do weird things when striking glass a lot of the time.
2. Part of the reason for the beard in the new Matrix is because of John Wick. Apparently it's also why he didn't do as much fighting in that movie because he was simultaneously working choreography for JW.

I want to expand on a scene you had cut out of the reaction, when the Mobster was talking to his son about giving John an 'Impossible Task', and that the 'bodies he buried that day, laid the foundation of what we are now'. Namely from what I have heard, back in the day when John was 'working', the Mobster wasn't top dog and had lots of rivals and other mobs and gangs also running the city for crime. And John's task was to kill all the other mobsters grounds, every member, from the top to the bottom, so that the Russian mobster in the movie was the only one left and able to take over and grow as powerful as they are.
The actress playing Perkins is Adrianne Palicki, who is probably best known for The Orville and for playing Agent Bobbi Morse in the Agents of Shield series. Don't know if she has had any formal training or if she is just naturally athletic, she did run track and play basketball in HS and has excelled through her work with trainers and choreographers on set. Either way she's done well enough to keep catching physically demanding roles. And yes, Keanu did around 90% of his own stunts, most likely everything that the insurance and production companies would allow, as well as doing intensive tactical firearms training. The director Chad Stahelski got his start in kickboxing and stunt work and was even Keanu's stunt double for the Matrix films. He also stunt/body doubled for Brandon Lee following his tragic death on the set of The Crow, he had worked with him, knew and could replicate his style and looked the most similar to the actor.

@@mrflickswatches I can only appreciate the films where the actors are the ones doing their own stunt work, with a few exceptions, like where it would just be insane to let them, given the risks, or where it's due to injury/illness or age that they can't but have directors who manage to capture it in a way to really hide the fact that it isn't them. The actors who commit to doing everything themselves like Keanu, Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh and Tom Cruise just bring a level of grounded realism when you can see it's really them. If you haven't already, I think you both would really enjoy Marvel series Agent Carter which is a short fun action adventure series and Agents of Shield which is interwoven between the movies starting right after Iron Man 3. Both have amazing casts with great chemistry. They even have some hilarious cross cast rivalry videos between the sets they also have some great choreography and Ming Na Wen is an absolute badass. But for the best choreography approaching the best movies you've got to check out Daredevil and The Punisher series both are next level and both leads Charlie Cox and John Bernthal are absolute perfection. Daredevil even does a incredible homage to The Raid: Redemptions infamous hallway fight scene that is 10/10!!!
Ah yes, Adrianne Palicki, probably my Last "Celebrity Crush". I remember the 1st time I saw her when she guest starred on Smallville & I thought, "Oh wow. Those eyes!". To be fair, I have pretty much only ever seen her doing bit parts & guest appearances. (Supernatural, Criminal Minds, etc.) But every time, that pretty face & gorgeous eyes appear, they just mesmerize me in every scene she does! I also understand she was in a popular series called Friday Night Lights. (but I never saw it)

At the end the dog the paperwork was going to be put down it's said to be euthanized stamped. So he saved the dog.

There’s a nodd to the second matrix film in this movie. The key maker in the second matrix film played the doctor that was patching him up after the club fight scene

Here’s another nod: the only guy in the club who gave him a serious fight was also one of the new, “upgraded” Agents in the second matrix film.
Matrix was good, and Neo was a good character however I think Keanu's acting in John Wick was much better.

Keanu Reeves did the stunts he could do in John Wick, and it was more than you would expect of Hollywood Stars; the maker of John Wick was Keanu's stunt instructor in Matrix. Keanu told him that he'd star in the movie if the stunt instructor made a movie. John Wick is an off-shoot from the Matrix crew family.
There's a video out there that breaks down how in nearly all movies, there is a scene where someone describes just how terrifying the villain is (perfect example: Infinity War where Bruce warns Tony and Dr. Strange about Thanos), but in THIS movie, it's the exact opposite, but with the same effect, where the villain (Vigo), is telling his son of the gravity of how he done goofed in doing John Wick dirty. There is another video out there where a body language analyst describes just how fearful Vigo is of John Wick based on how he talks to his son. Of the three films in the series, the first John Wick will always be my favorite.

John was top of the game 5 years ago, so all the big players know about him but the new guys don't know or care as he retired and vanished into normal life. He was slow and depressed at the start but the hate gets him going again...
The John Wick house is out here on Long Island in a very exclusive town called Mill Neck. -- The runway where John practices driving is at Republic Airport, Farmingdale, NY.
With as much as he laughs at it, you'd think this movie was a comedy.

Originally they didn't know if they were going to get any sequels. So this was written as a stand alone movie. There is a lot of symbolism in this movie as well which I think people pick on subconsciously. Perfectly crafted with a simple plot. As the movie progresses Vigo used harder and harder substances, alcohol in the beginning, weed in the middle etc. John paused in the bath house because he wanted Vigo's son to recognize who he was. Look forward to seeing your reactions to the other movies as well.

Strongly recommend the Swedish trilogy, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It co-stars the late Michael Nyqvist (Wick’s former associate here) and he’s in a role completely different than this one. And Noomi Rapace as the complete bad ass Lisbeth Salander is next level!

I loved Keanu as Neo. He's fantastic as John Wick, and hilariously fun as Ted "Theodore" Logan but I think my favorite iconic Keanu Reeves character was Johnny Mnemonic. Keep up the great reactions you two. Awesome channel.

The actor that plays the leader of the cleanup crew, Charlie, is the guy that played Luther in the film classic The Warriors.

Reeves was trained in shooting by Taran Butler who is a world class competition shooter and champion 3 gun shooter. He also trained Hailey Berry for the 3rd movie.
"Where you at that 6am is so bright" as a Canadian I felt that in my soul. Summer, suns up at like 4:30-5am, yet winter suns not up until 10-11:30pm. 18-20h of sun in the summer, only 6h in the winter lol
He directed the blade into his previous wound so he could bring Vigo closer and not injure himself more. The dog he got from the clinic he was fixing himself up in was scheduled to be put down.
From Google, the daisy has meaning roots in Norse mythology: "Since the daisy was Freya's favorite flower, it took its meaning from her. The daisy symbolized motherhood and childbirth and through that was associated with love, sensuality, and fertility." I learned today!
Keeanu did all the fighting and guns choreography and stunts he spent months and months training and he did both himself. The only stunts he didn't do was being hit by the cars and being thrown down the stairs in chapter 2
A lot of people didn't notice it but the dog he got at the end is marked to be put down. So he didn't steal the dog, but saved it.
A few things you may have missed and a little info. Mr. Reeves spent a lot of time getting trained in combat shooting and 3 gun competition for these movies. When he ordered "Dinner for 12" he was telling the cleaning crew how many bodies. When talking to Francis outside the Red Circle he asked about Francis' weight loss and he said 67kg letting John know how many guards were in the building.
unlike other actors that die from "being the character", "a breeze over the mountain" does it to add to his life, not kill him

Adrianne Palicki learned Judo for this movie... The directors have background as Stuntmen, so this movie is filled with most of the crew doing their own stunts as much as they can. Watch "John Wick Directors React to The Honest Trailer!" on RUclips... it was filmed after the second movie, so there is a minor spoiler or two about the second movie. So I'd suggest watching the second movie first, IMO the spoilers won't ruin the movie.
There are videos of Keanu Reeves doing 3- gun competitions, taking out mobile targets at a range without missing, and all kinds of stuff. He’s THAT slick with guns. No joke

He is, and will always be Neo to me. Another fun fact, the stunt coordinators of the Matrix, are the directors of John Wick, and the guy who gives John the best fighting challenge, is the agent in Matrix 2 & 3.
Fun fact. John and Helen Wick originated in episode 5 of the 90s TV show, La Femme Nikita with Peta Wilson. The differences were they were criminals, and spelled their last name with an e at the end (Wicke).

John Wick does have some skills and heavy plot armor, but I'm pretty sure Dead shot has almost a superhuman ability for his marksmanship skills so edge would have to go to deadshot you would assume.
Keanu also did the driving stunts at the end of the movie including sliding the car into the guy into the passenger side window.
Keanu says he does all of the stunts in the Wick movies except getting hit by cars and falling down stairs (and getting thrown off the balcony in this movie).
A bit of John Wick trivia, The director of the movie was one of the stunt coordinators from the Matrix franchise. Both Keanu & he became good friends & Chad Stahelski (the stunt coordinator/Director) pitched the movie to Keanu & the rest is history.

Haha, martial arts can be learned by actors too, you know 😂 Usually before the shoot, actors would go through intensive training for a few months, in martial arts, gunplay, and more. Like the actress who play Trinity in the Matrix, she learned how to ride motorcycle just for the film.
Can’T believe nobody else has commented that the director of this movie is actually John’s stunt double from The Matrix - so, you will see a lot of similarities and some lines get reused from the Matrix throughout the John Wick franchise.

John snapped and it's great, also sad fact daisy woke up and crawled over to John then died when I learned that I cried!! Vigo's assistant is mayhem from the insurance commercials... Keanu Reeves actually trained for the gun fighting scenes!
Nice catch that you see The Matrix in this. On top of the Doctor who stitched John up is the Key Maker from the Matrix, but this movie was made by the Second Unit Director of the Matrix! The Second Unit is responsible for shooting all the stunt scenes of major movies.
Keanu worked with them and loved what they did and told them that they should direct something of their own. So they all worked together to come up with this. So, this very much has the Matrix in its DNA.
"He was Neo first." Fraid not, my young friend. I will accept Johnny Utah or Ted Theodore Logan, esquire. New sub, by the way. It's a pleasure to meet you both. This movie taught us that if you want to get the audience on the side of the hero, kill the dog. That immediately trumps pretty much any flaws your hero may have. Keanu did an amazing job with this and the amount of trigger time that man put in is truly impressive. The man is very, very good now.
To answer your question about this character or that, I'd have to know what you're asking. Who would win in a fight? Most snappy dresser? What are we going for here. I'll have a mildly stoned pointless debate on characters all day, but I need parameters.

If John had wanted Theon dead quickly, the movie would have ended in the night club. John wanted to punish him first. I think it's fair to say, he succeeded.

Keanu does his own fighting and in John Wick III Halle Berry trained with Keanu in CA and she’s one of the best females with a gun the trainers say. Her dogs in that movie are badass.
Her character, Sofia (and her dogs) needs a standalone movie in the John Wick Universe.

16:56 John probably did have something special planned for him. But once John realized Losef had a real chance of escaping, the change of plans was probably forced.
Wick over Neo. By far. One is more relatable as far as abilities. But also, the Wick movies are stunts-based. Matrix is CGI-based. No contest. Plus, in the Wick movie, the cars that overturned or dropped off the edge, did not senselessly explode. they just go, crunch.
I remember watching him in Parenthood and Bill and Ted. He's still John Wick tho. Part 4 is coming eventually lol
I have heard many people say they almost stopped watching the movie when the dog was killed. Many missed that the dog crawled over to John before dying.
We didn’t miss it at all. I just didn’t say anything about it. It was very sad though
