  • @ictybtwbc

You should try a self-saucing pudding. I’m pretty sure they’re an Aussie thing. It’s generally a chocolate (but can be other flavours) cake/pudding batter, covered in a chocolatey boiling water mix. It’s the strangest thing because the chocolate water sinks to the bottom, then as it cooks becomes a delicious thick rich sauce that will ooze out as you slice the pud. Delish and super simple recipe!

Yummmeeee... I have been making my own steamed puds for years, after loving them at school and then later becoming a dinner lady when the children were small. The cook taught me how to get the perfect steamed sponge... she always used a metal container and a steamer and she would add a small amount of baking powder to the mix, too... even though using SR Flour. Everyone who has ever tasted my steamed puds has been really blown away (blowing own trumpet here! hahaha) as they're so light and airy... and if I may add, I serve with either a dollop of Chantilly Cream or some good quality Madagascan Vanilla Custard! ROCK ON JEMMA!!! I love your channel xxx

Cake is baked in an oven which is typically dry heat and thus the cooking time and end result is different (texture level of moisture) a pudding is always STEAMED served warm and takes longer normally to cook than a cake (most cakes) served with a sauce and warms the heart any time of day in a way a cake with frosting doesn't quiet do. It's like a edible hug IMHO and worth a try!
