@@gavinboggs5787 Penix makes the big boy throws tho. Deep balls are not as high percentage as checkdowns, they're riskier, but he attempts them way more often than someone like Nix, so his lower QBR and efficiency shouldn't be looked down upon. 1/3 of all of nix's passes have been thrown to someone at or behind the line of scrimmage. Bo Nix is bottom ten (out of 130+) in avg. depth of target (6.4 yards) while Micheal Penix is top ten (hovering between 10-12 yards all year). Also 65% of Nix's yards have come after the catch. Penix could easily have more touchdown throws, but UW has a great O line and running back so from the 5 and under they simply run it in. Other teams are padding their heisman stats by throwing td's from the 2 yard line or having their QB run it in from outside of the pocket while threatening pass.
It is apparent that FSU QB deserved the Heisman, because with his injury FSU was taken out of the playoffs who were undefeated. So if he makes that much of a HUGE difference, he should get the Heisman for sure, just saying.
If any of these guys got injured their respective teams would probably also miss the playoffs. If LSU didn’t have Daniel’s they probably have at least 6 losses
If Penix played the entire season as well as he did in the first half of the season, then I think he'd be the obvious choice, but he had a few games in the second half of the season where he didn't look great. Jayden Daniels and his team have three losses, but he has been consistently great over the entire season. I think on that basis we're gonna get Daniels as the Heisman winner. Hate to say it as a husky fan, but the only argument for Penix over Daniels is the win/loss record, which isn't a terribly convincing case.

Penix (ribs, flu) Rome (punchered lungs, ribs) RB Johnson (ankle) played hurt & McMillan (knee) was out two months, would explain why so many close games and Penix so-so performance. Bottom line they toughed it out and still won. Tough battle tested team! Impressive! They're all are going to be healthy for Texas... scary!!!
That’s the reasoning why Penix honestly should win. If he’s hurt even at 13-0 they’re left outta the CFP instead UDUB has a chance to win the whole thing
If Oregon won we would not even be discussing Penix. JD5 is the best player. Penix and Nix are on good teams. That is the difference. Put Penix and Nix on the tigers they wouldn’t even be mentioned for the Heisman
As a Duck fan, Penix IS THAT GUY that comes in clutch when it matters most. Obviously not a rusher-where Daniels is also killin it-but a huge play-maker that can single-handedly steal wins in the waning minutes of a game (aka DIFFERENCE MAKER). He has my vote…just figuratively of course.
I love how Joel intends to try to spin it in favor of somebody he needs to stop lying to himself, and really look. This is not even close Jayden’s numbers on those two bow nicks and Michael teams would be even better with him on it and again it’s an individual award not a team award all three of these guys don’t play defense
That's not true, there is a debate and Klatt perfectly outlined a legitimate debate outline. I'm a UW alum, I want Penix to win. I would magically make Penix win it if I could. Seriously. Jayden Daniels should win. He edges Penix. It's close, for the reasons Klatt laid out, but Jayden definitely should win. He was on very good team. He was outstanding. So outstanding, he edges Penix. Penix is the most important player on the #2 undefeated team in the country, by performance and tangible clutch performance in many games. Legitimately, Jayden edges him. I'm sad to say, but it's true.
@@cangle37How many games did Penix throw 0 touchdowns!!! Daniels could never be carried by that LSU defense the way Washington’s defense carried their qb. This isn’t a team award, will y’all take time to process that.
Daniels will win, but Penix is the better QB. Nobody throws a better deep ball and he led UW to several game winning drives (Oregon, Oregon St, WSU, Oregon again, USC) for a 13-0 team. He wasn't padding his stats like Daniel's against Georgia Community College in week 12

There is no legitimate reason to pick Penix over Nix. Nix blows him away statistically. Nix has 12% higher completion, 10 more TDs, 6 less INTs, more yards per attempt, etc. Penix had 2 games where he had ZERO TDs and a bunch of games where he was mediocre. Nix never had less than 2 TDs in a game. It makes no sense for Penix to get the Heisman when Nix won the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year
Jayden Daniels would like to remind you that he has more 20+ yard rushes than Nix’s 20+ yard COMPLETIONS. Oh and Daniels has more 20+ yard TDs compared to just Nix’s total 20+ COMPLETIONS. Daniels is the definition of a Heisman, and his explosiveness cannot be compared to anyone else.
JD 13TDs vs Grambling & GA State Penix 2nd best WR was out most of the year I don't think the SEC plays defense the way they used to, JD much better legs than Penix, going undefeated in the toughest Conf this year while leading the nation in passing yards, Penix would get my vote, but if JD won I'd be ok too Tebow once upon a time won Heisman with 3 regular season losses even though McFadden was the best player that year.
Take those games away and Daniels still has 37 td in 10 games. Penix had 33td in 13 games. So taking those games out and giving Penix an additional 3 games, he still has accounted for fewer td than Daniels.
Daniels played some terrible teams, and when he played tough teams his numbers suffered. Penix played the most difficult schedule at of all finalists. This has to be taken into account. Penix deserves the Heisman.
Against FSU: 346yds passing, 64yds rushing, 410 yds total, 1td, longest pass 75yds, longest rush 40yds Against Ole Miss: 414yds passing, 99yds rushing, 513 yds total, 5tds, longest pass 42yds, longest rush 55yds Against Bama: 219yds passing, 163yds rushing, 382yds total, 3tds, longest pass 46yds, longest rush 40yds (before getting knocked out of the game at the end of the 3rd quarter) At the end of the day Daniels is only one player. Daniels played out of his mind every single game, but this is a team sport and LSU’s defense is much worse than Washingtons. Unlike Penix, Daniels didn’t have a single bad game all season. A qb that couldn’t score a single td against ASU shouldn’t even be in the heisman conversation.
Tulsa, Stanford, MI State and Arizona St were all on Washington's schedule, how good were those teams? your lying, Daniels numbers did not suffer against tough teams, 979 yards passing 326 yards rushing and 9 TD passes Must QB can only dream of putting up those numbers in a three game total.
And to make a comment like this, if anything, reflects that you’ve not watched Daniel’s play this season. Against BAMA in 3 quarters- 219 yards 160 rushing yards. A “terrible” teams are standford, Michigan state, and etc. not ole miss, Alabama, and Florida state. Another example that Daniels couldn’t be stopped- Texas A&M was one of the better defenses in the country (I understand that your view of wins and losses dictate your take on a team, but your view is wrong) Daniels- 235 yards passing 4TD and 120 rushing. Your argument is invalid. Moving on.
I admire your attempt to paint some sort of equivalence here, but we're talking about college football where the ability to extend drives by running the football is so valuable.... and we both know who wins in that category hands down. As for wins and losses... Daniels played in the much more difficult SEC, and with an historically bad defense. Washington without Penix would have probably lost twice, LSU without Daniels would have lost seven games. This should be landslide vote: Daniels is the best and most deserving.
Another example of SEC and ESPN bias. Penix has better numbers, but just like FSU, there is a bias towards anything SEC. It is just assumed that big-time football is not played on the West Coast.
Are you freaking kidding me??? Daniels just posted the highest QB efficiency rating in CFB HISTORY, and he did it against tougher defenses. Tell me which Penix numbers were better... Yards per game: Daniels - 412 Penix - 323 TD's per game: Daniels - 4.2 Penix - 2.8 Completion percentage: Daniels - 72.2% Daniels - 65.9% Yards per Passing Attempt: Daniels - 11.7 Penix - 9.1 QBR: Daniels - 208 Penix - 161 Interceptions: Daniels - 4 Penix - 9 Rushing yards: Daniels - 1,134 Penix - (-18) It's actually kind of embarrassing how it's not even close.
It’s actually why Penix should win. If he was hurt even at 13-0 UDUB doesn’t get in, instead their #2 debatably #1 in the CFP with a chance to win it all.
No FSU is unbeaten and Travis is not in. Travis is obviously the best player in the nation Give him the Heisman immediately. The " experts" have made it clear undefeated FSU can't win without him in their bullcrap logic.
Numbers aren't great if they are against inferior competition and result in 3 losses. Huskies have #1 strength of record on the back of Penix. He carried his team to greatness, Daniels did not.
Not clear why team wins is emphasized here. It’s an individual award, you can be a great offensive player carrying your team but not able to overcome the deficiencies of your defense or special teams.
Maybe because QB is the single most important position in CFB. If you have a great one you win, if you have a bad one you lose. LSU's D is ranked 101st, UW's D is ranked 90th but PENIX is undefeated.
Penix has led 6 game-winning or clinching drives. I think the argument here is that he has been so clutch and if you look at actual plays he has made when the game was on the line, rather than the numbers for the whole season, he had a more impressive resume. Can think of multiple clutch, Heisman-type moments for Penix. When I think of Jayden Daniels I just think of his incomplete pass to the endzone during what could have been the game-winning drive against ole-miss, and also his stat-padding against Georgia state and throwing deep TDs over and over again to Naber when their already up 40 points in the 4th quarter. Lol
Why is Harrison jr-going and not Rome Odunze? Odunze is 13-0 with better stats And in the cfp? Just shows it’s another Mario Bailey /Desmond Howard matchup and all my Dawg fans know what happens with that matchup 😎😎💜
We all know the SEC quarterback will win. College football only cares about propping up the sec and big 10. If it's ever a close decision those 2 conferences will win because they're all that matter.
Pennix’s -18 rushing yards vs. Daniels’ 1,134 is a glaring stat. Also, Jayden leads the nation with yards per rush(all positions), tied for #1 in the Nation in passing Yds at 40 with Nix, and is still #3 in passing yards. Not to mention, Daniels only played 12 games compared to the other 2 guys playing 13. It’s a no brainer, Jayden Daniels all day 💯💪 🐅

Statistically Jayden wins, clearly. But if it was solely based on highest stats, Harrison wouldn’t be a finalist. Nabers would. Putting all personal bias’ aside, the question is which QB would you trust the most and want on your team? It’s not just about passing yards and rushing yards. A great QB doesn’t need to rush. Look at Tom Brady. To further use the NFL for reference, would you take Lamar over Brady because Lamar runs so it must mean he’s better?
Look at the throws Penix makes, when if he doesn't make them, his team will probably lose. Then look at how many games he did this in and you are almost gobsmacked by how well he has played this year. Also, Penix could easily have more touchdowns, but we actually run it in from 5 yards or less rather than padding QB stats, by throwing from the 2 yard line with roll outs for a potential run in.
Brutal take He had way more possessions over the season the SEC defenses are terrible Both teams are basically playing 7 on 7 score on big , not tackling plays, on both sides thus giving Daniels a plethora of more stat building oppoertunities
The Heisman trophy should immediately be awarded to Jordan Travis, the rest of the candidates be damned. Because the powers have already made it abundantly clear that Florida State cannot win without him. So Jordan Travis is obviously the best player in the country by that logic.
MPJ is an amazing QB and has had a phenomenal year but -18 rushing yards to Jayden’s 1,134 rushing yards. Not to mention how close their stats are at the moment… it’s not even close. Yes, MPJ is on an undefeated team in the playoffs but if we put Jayden on the same team, with the defense MPJ has and the same conference… it wouldn’t even be this close between the 2. Jayden the Heisman. Just need the votes to reflect that

When the CFP is negotiating a new TV contract where they need the best ratings this year to get the best deal even next year and goin forward, do they want the Heisman trophy winner playing an irrelevant bowl game or would they rather have a slept on UDUB bolstered by having this year’s Heisman winner drawing more ratings?
Only one of the finalists led his team to an undefeated record and into the CFP. None of the other finalists teams are even in the CFP; let alone an undefeated season. If Daniels and Penix switched teams, LSU is in the playoffs and Washington loses to Oregon.
Team awards are called championships - the QB is on the field for less than half of the plays and 30-40 of his teammates play a pretty big role in whether the game is won or lost. The Heisman is an individual award and, when it comes to individual performance, it ain't even close.
Where does Jayden play... Not on a team that is playing for a championship So Penix did way more for his team Clearly Penix deserves this Don't pull another FSU

Now we're finding out (came out after the Oregon game) that four of the Huskies top stars, Penix,(ribs & flu) Rome (ribs, punctured lungs), Johnson (ankle) & McMillan (knee) have all been playing hurt the past 5-7 games. The Huskies are going to be scary good when they have a month to heal up.
He broke his ribs and unlike Jayden vs Bama he didn’t pull himself outta the game.
If his team lost three games, he didn't do "great"! ;)
Penix (ribs, flu) Rome (punchered lungs, ribs) RB Johnson (ankle) played hurt & McMillan (knee) was out two months, would explain why so many close games and Penix so-so performance. Bottom line they toughed it out and still won. Tough battle tested team! Impressive! They're all are going to be healthy for Texas... scary!!!
Jayden Daniels Is The Heisman. It’s Not Close

If the performance of an entire team matters on who wins the Heisman, then the Heisman should no longer be called an individual award.

He had a bad six games and shows up against oregon out of nowhere, no its daniels

How many meaningful games did he play in near the end of the season? 0
It's not about meaningful games. It's supposed to be about best player. Are really best QB seems like that's what it's turned into
That's not true, there is a debate and Klatt perfectly outlined a legitimate debate outline.
I thought that before this video. I had no idea JD rushed for over 1000 yards until now!

It’s not a QB award.

It makes no sense for Penix to get the Heisman when Nix won the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year
yet he's lost twice to Penix in a span of 7 weeks ...cope harder.

JD 13TDs vs Grambling & GA State
Penix 2nd best WR was out most of the year
I don't think the SEC plays defense the way they used to,
JD much better legs than Penix, going undefeated in the
toughest Conf this year while leading the nation in passing
yards, Penix would get my vote, but if JD won I'd be ok too
Tebow once upon a time won Heisman with 3 regular season losses
even though McFadden was the best player that year.
The SEC has 5 teams in the top 13
Take those games away and Daniels still has 37 td in 10 games. Penix had 33td in 13 games. So taking those games out and giving Penix an additional 3 games, he still has accounted for fewer td than Daniels.
Daniels played some terrible teams, and when he played tough teams his numbers suffered. Penix played the most difficult schedule at of all finalists. This has to be taken into account. Penix deserves the Heisman.
Most difficult schedule?!?! 🤣🤣🤣
Against FSU: 346yds passing, 64yds rushing, 410 yds total, 1td, longest pass 75yds, longest rush 40yds
Against Ole Miss: 414yds passing, 99yds rushing, 513 yds total, 5tds, longest pass 42yds, longest rush 55yds
Against Bama: 219yds passing, 163yds rushing, 382yds total, 3tds, longest pass 46yds, longest rush 40yds (before getting knocked out of the game at the end of the 3rd quarter)
At the end of the day Daniels is only one player.
Moving on.
It'll be Daniels, but Penix deserves it after an incredible undefeated season this far!
This should be landslide vote: Daniels is the best and most deserving.
lol you are delusional. Huskies won 4 games the year before penix got to Washington.
Lsu quarterback can't win the big game ,but just give him that Heisman anyway?
Another example of SEC and ESPN bias. Penix has better numbers, but just like FSU, there is a bias towards anything SEC. It is just assumed that big-time football is not played on the West Coast.
People east of the rockies are delusional.
Except Caleb Williams won the heisman last year lol
Are you freaking kidding me??? Daniels just posted the highest QB efficiency rating in CFB HISTORY, and he did it against tougher defenses. Tell me which Penix numbers were better...

Daniels - 412
Penix - 323
TD's per game:
Daniels - 4.2
Penix - 2.8
Completion percentage:

Yards per Passing Attempt:

Penix - 9.1

Daniels - 208
Penix - 161

Daniels - 4
Penix - 9
Rushing yards:
Daniels - 1,134
Penix - (-18)
It's actually kind of embarrassing how it's not even close.
If record is a QB stat then I guess it makes sense FSU didn’t make the playoff
It’s actually why Penix should win. If he was hurt even at 13-0 UDUB doesn’t get in, instead their #2 debatably #1 in the CFP with a chance to win it all.
No FSU is unbeaten and Travis is not in. Travis is obviously the best player in the nation
Give him the Heisman immediately.
Odunze is 13-0 with better stats
And in the cfp?

Penix should receive the Heisman. But Washington doesn't get the respect they deserve.
Penix
Mr. Daniels🎉
Penix has -18 rushing yards, he will be runner up in Heisman to JD
Told ya lol
Brutal take
He had way more possessions over the season the SEC defenses are terrible
Both teams are basically playing 7 on 7 score on big , not tackling plays, on both sides thus giving Daniels a plethora of more stat building oppoertunities
It's too close, you know, they're gonna give it to the one in the playoffs. Plus Washington beat Oregon twice.

The Heisman trophy should immediately be awarded to Jordan Travis, the rest of the candidates be damned. Because the powers have already made it abundantly clear that Florida State cannot win without him. So Jordan Travis is obviously the best player in the country by that logic.
Daniels will win because the award is a popularity contest
MPJ is an amazing QB and has had a phenomenal year but -18 rushing yards to Jayden’s 1,134 rushing yards. Not to mention how close their stats are at the moment… it’s not even close. Only one of the finalists led his team to an undefeated record and into the CFP. None of the other finalists teams are even in the CFP; let alone an undefeated season. If Daniels and Penix switched teams, LSU is in the playoffs and Washington loses to Oregon.
