Marcella was/is so classically beautiful, but Siobhan had something about her that’s impossible to put your finger on. She was, in my opinion, the most beautiful creature on planet earth when she was playing this character
One thing I always loved about Shakespears Sister was that when they sang live they sang live,no miming like the more modern groups do.These ladies had talent!
I can remember one night out in Leeds when this was at the top of the charts. We went into 6 separate clubs, and each one was playing this song, both on audio and video. Almost every single person just stopped what they were doing, and watched / listened. Quite remarkable the impact it had, and continues to have. Seem to recall waking up in the bus exchange in Leeds having a bit to much to drink, and falling asleep on the bus on the way home. Had to break out of the bus and the exchange. A memorable night indeed.
People really do not actually realize just how completely MASSIVE this song was. It crossed culturally to other countries and even charted in places other than the UK and The state's. Their last performance was in Japan where literally they both knew that it was their last show and tried their hardest to perform this song without breaking down. Over 30,000 people went nuts.
I remember watching this every week on Top of the Pops for weeks. Siobhan Fahey was just mesmerising, and she still is. In this clip, she's barely moving, but I can't take my eyes off her. If she had to leave Bananarama to do music like this, I'm glad she did.

Few months ( 24 11 91) before it was released Freddie died - I remember I was push to the limit even though I did not really understand words of “show must go on” I was .. how to say It.. I remember myself crying over the tape player listening over and over this song. Sad. Later on next spring ( actually I heard it first in the autumn 92) this song, in the same manner equally sad and touching, You can’t imagine me waiting the whole week to see it in the playlist in polish tv Best part is when ,Siobhan starts her part- my good…..

saw these live when this song was NO1 in the UK...they were playing at the DeMontfort Uni....fab gig...they were amazing....I was on a blind date..the date was shite..but the gig was amazing lol

I loved this song when it came to The USA. Years have gone by and to my horror in December of 2017, I found myself waking from a 13 day coma, in the ER, having no clue how I got there. My wife by my side holding my hand as the ER staff was frantically stabilizing me, she said "Stay with me."
@@iseley Some acts at times insisted on playing live on Top of the Pops. A certain New Order wanted to sing Blue Monday live, & so they did....oh dear! I am a Joy Division & New Order fan but ooops. This performance by the ladies was sung live & an incredible performance too.
Did not see exactly see the crowd go crazy at any point there. Pity they could not get along better as they could have done some pretty amazing stuff together.
I highly doubt she was jealous of Marcella. Marcella has a great voice but she doesn't have the stage presence like Siobhan. Not to mention Siobhan is gorgeous.

I remember talking to Fred Fairbrass of Right Said Fred about this. They sang Deeply Dippy live soon after this. Most of 1992 was live on totp.
It's definitely sung live here as Siobhan gets her opening lyrics wrong and neither of their vocals sound exactly like the studio version.
