Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it! I’m still rocking mine after almost 9months of hard use. I use them hiking and trail running all the time. Probably have over 750km on them, and over some narly terrain. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Cheers, Dave
The only thing I would change about my 5’s is make the stack height a bit higher in the forefoot and make the upper less ‘plush’. Thank you for taking the time to comment and watch the video. Cheers, Dave
I would not use them on the pavement at all. That being said I have used them when the pavement is snow covered. They are meant for the trail, especially gnarly conditions.
Is it ok to use these shoes for hiking (no backpack or very light) instead of trail running? My concern is that the shoe is designed for soft and muddy terrain, so even though I like the look it might be a wrong choice for hiking... What do you think?
I personally is them for hiking with a small daypack. I will add that my ankles are relatively strong from all the running I’ve done, and the train is not extremely technical. The only issue I have is that the heel stack height is quite high And some people might find that unstable. Thanks again for taking the time to watch and comment. Cheers, Dave
The traction on the pitch would be great and they are comfortable. Not sure how they would be with changing directions constantly though. Thanks for watching. Hope this helps a bit with your decision. Cheers, Dave
@@jadizzle I would say no to walking on lots of pavement/ashpalt. The outsole is far too aggressive. Thank you for taking the time to watch and leaving a comment. Appreciated! Cheers. Dave
Great grip for muddy ground, super comfy. However. The stack is too high, too much room in around the toes, the inner sole scrunches into the front of the shoe when running downhill. And they smell. A lot. Bought some s lab amphib 2 after, much better
I agree that the stack is too high, especially in the rear and I prefer a lower offset. Yes, they are big in the toe box which is unusual for a Salomon. I should have gone with a 1/2 size smaller in fact. I will have to try out the Amphib after I am done with my Peregrines. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment Nick- it really helps out the channel. 👍 Cheers, dave
We don’t have much rain here so I don’t have a lot of experience in wet conditions. I have found them to be good in the rare conditions that is is slippery though. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching. Cheers, dave
You are correct. Refining my videos all along the way. I had them for over 2 years and 1000km of great use before I had to retire them. And yes, good traction on trail is poor longevity on the road - much like winter tires. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Cheers.
@@Dogwalkerdave if they are like winter tires, would they be good to use only on snow packed roads? I already have shoes that are good on wet roads and others that are good on dry road. But I don’t have anything to run with on poorly plowed roads that can be a mix of damp pavement, sleet and hard packed snow. I’ve just been fast walking those days. But this year the sun hasn’t been out to clear the road and I want to run not walk.
@@CarlYota in my experience, yes, they would be pretty good for Hardpac snow. As long as it’s not ice, because that becomes a different issue altogether. Thanks for following along, I appreciate the support.!
Very good review and helped clear up many of my questions. Thank you!

Thank you for this amazing review. It's really helpful
My pleasure. Thanks for taking the time to watch it. I am still using them 2 years later (for some of my runs and hikes). Cheers, Dave!
Thanks for the helpful review just ordered a 14 and 13
Glad I could help. I have had them now for 16 months and over 800km on them. They are, for me, bulletproof! Cheers
@@Dogwalkerdave I was just slipping and sliding around too much can’t wait I heard they made them a little wider in the latest version
Much change between the Speedcross 4 and the 5. Curious as l am waiting for a pair to arrive. I love my 4's.

how do they perform on the asphalt? i need a shoe good for pretty much any type of terrain from hard surfaces to mud.
I would not use them on the pavement at all. That being said I have used them when the pavement is snow covered. They are meant for the trail, especially gnarly conditions.

How do you think they would work for refing soccer? Normally a grass field. sometimes wet and muddy.

Tx mate..
My pleasure
Can you use these for road pavement running?
I would not as they are too stiff and aggressive of an outsole. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Appreciate it. Cheers, Dave
@@Dogwalkerdave How about as an overall outdoor walking shoe (like a day at the park or zoo with the kids)? Is it a little too aggressive?

Size run Big?
I do find they run a little big. I should have gone a 1/2 size down. Thanks for watching. Appreciate the support. Cheers. Dave

So slippery when wet. I feel insecure wearing it after rainy day

Yeah - 200km long term? Broken in more like. IMHO their weak point is also their strength - good traction on trail means poor longevity on tar.
