I cannot get along with the fit and offset of salomon's. But they do grip better than altras. Altras grip on wet surfaces can be outright frightening. That being said, I love my timps. But it's Saucony for me if I want to feel like I'm rotating the earth. I have the mad rivers and peregrine 10 and the grip with both on everything is really unbelievable.

You are right. Salomon Speedcross 5 outsole provides great grip. Altra lone peak outsole grip are horrible. I had a bad experience using lone peak during my previous running event. I will never buy Altra trail shoes ever again😐

Do you own any of these Shoes? If yes, which one you like better the Speedcross 5 or the Lone Peak 5?

I prefer the Lone Peak 5's still, just too much stack height on the SpeedCross. That was a fun run and talk, thanks for the invite!

I personally prefer the Speedcross 5s because of the fit. I really like the tread pattern and depth as well!

I don't think both can be made comparison. Still, if I choose to go trail running far 50km, then I will use. Below 30km I will prefer to speedcross.
Currently I am working on strengthening barefoot running trail until I can able to reach 50k barefoot. After that, if there is any available running trail event next year, then I will run 100k using only speedcross. Weird? Nope, not really. Because the rubber grip from speedcross is matter

I've found the Lone Peak is not as good of a tread compared to Salomon.

We agree with that! Salomon Speedcross made for more rugged terrain no doubt.

    You can Not compare These.
Salomon is a high drop Shoe with plenty of toe spring and strong Front Rocker.
The Altra is better at all chatacteristics to keep the athlete healthy. Zero Drop, moderate toe-spring and Just as much Front Rocker it is of advantage.

Thanks for your feedback! We wanted to kind of compare these shoes because this is our two best selling shoes her in O'ahu. You are right you can not really compare these two because they are very different. I would definitely argue about Altra's keeping the athletes healthier...

@@ulohahawaii8343 Advantages of Toe-Spring and Rocker is well known. Faster times. Negative sideffects are also welll known and there. E.g. female Salomon topathlete from Nepal injured incl. surgery at her knees. Other Salomon athlete with hip-surgery.
      "reduce the toe-spring"
