  • One of the last steps to finishing the bar area was to run all of the accent cabinet LED lighting. MiLight LED products were used with 24v LED strips to create an awesome accent lighting effect that can easily be changed. Hopefully this will help if you are looking to tackle a similar project!

    Dude got skillz! For me the hard part is not all the craftsman skills, it is envisioning and designing it while looking at a blank wall. I just get overwhelmed by the zillion design choices and have a hard time coming up with something that fits the room and looks coherent. That's just art-- harder to learn than using tools. This bar looks great though!

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  2 года назад +1

      Thanks man. Honestly I was really happy with the MiLight products. They have some updated ones now that work with Amazon Alexa or Google if that's your thing. But their remotes are RF and are miles better than the credit card remote style that has to be pointing at an IR sensor. Plus with the phone app, super easy to use. There are some other bigger name brands out there, but building your own kits from scratch like this with their products were very cost effective. No regrets and I'll be doing the same in my new house when the time comes

      @@LifeofBliss great video. Learned a ton. But confused about your answer. But what else is new, I'm always confused. Why would you have a four zone controller if you are only controlling one zone per controller? Would one remote work with each of your three controllers for your three zones? Thanks again.

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  3 года назад +1

      Their terminology is kind of confusing... each zone needs a "controller", or a box that the leds plug into. You can control up to 4 "controllers" or zones with 1 remote. So, I had I remote that controlled 4 zones. Hope that helped

    • @LifeofBliss

      Negative. Each controller needs a power supply. You can assign multiple controllers to one zone though. For example, if you had 3 separate power supplies and controllers in 3 different rooms, you could assign each of the controllers to zone 1 and they would all be in sync. As in the same, not the band...

    That looks incredible! Just had two questions. How are the lights holding up today? I am considering tape lights for my builtins, but have seen reviews that they don't hold up over time. Also, how did you get the lights under the countertop to sync up with the others? Is it somehow hardwired to the others, or is it all done via wifi and the app?

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  4 года назад +1

      Thanks! Everything is holding up great. Added a few more zones since then that you can see in my diy screen build video if you're interested. All the solder joints have held up and no LEDs have given out. The Milight system has multiple zones so you can either control them separately or sync them all. Each zone requires a separate controller that you can control with the remote. I have 1 controller for the cabinet lights, another for under the counters (some behind my day board are wired in there as well), another controller for the lights behind the projector screen. The pendant lights are on another zone. They just run off the wall switch power, no separate controller needed.

    Thanks for this video sir. Cleared out a few of my questions.
    How long was your LED strip? I have heard/read that going over 16.4 ft will affect on voltage and power, etc. Any inputs abut this?

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  4 года назад +2

      Glad it helped man.
      That's actually why I went with the 24v setup to decrease any chances of that happening. The whole bar took a little over 1 of the 16 ft strips. There's probably another 15+ feet of extension wire there as well and no voltage issues. My projector screen used over 20 ft of lights and probably 8 ft of extension wire. Again no issues. When testing, I can say that 32.8 ft of leds had no dimming issues at all before I cut the strips down. You should easily be able to run 2 full strips if not more with no issues

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  6 лет назад

      Figured the tv wasn't as big of deal to show 😉 The pendant lights are Wi-Fi lights from the same company Milight. Everything is housed in the bulb and it just twists in like a normal bulb and runs off the wall switch power. Remote links with them the same as the strip lights. We gotta get you set up this winter!

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  6 лет назад +4

      Sorry I didn't go over that part very well... The back wall lights and the lights under the bar top each have their own separate controller/power source they are plugged into. A remote can control up to 4 zones and is programmed to each zone by plugging in the lights and hitting the power button for a zone (1, 2, 3, or 4) on the remote within 3 seconds. The pendant lights are wireless without a control module and just need the power from the wall switch to operate. Hope that helps, let me know if not!
