Most of the communities have their own new year. Chinese have, Ethiopians have,Like wise Indians have new year based on salivahana, vikrama, Surya Siddhanta etc. Many countries with ancient heritage will have these things. It's not necessary to change these things as it reminds cultural heritage. Even though Japanese are very advanced in science and technology they still preserve their cultural heritage. Only useless traditions can be scrapped not cultural heritage.
