How I Got Hearthstone’s Highest Rank With Only Free Cards
Disenchanting zilliax to craft the boogeymonster physically hurt me
I play singleton control Warrior in Wild occasionally and run Boogeymonster in my deck.
💀@@SpeakerTerenus
@@SpeakerTerenusFor the mental damage right?... right?
Zilliax was nerfed so he got a full dust refund. He could then undo crafting boogeymonster to get the dust back and craft Zilliax again. He didn't lose anything
@@shadowseek27 Well, when I see people playing dumbass cards, it brings a smile to my face every time. I hope to make my opponents laugh when they see me playing the fucking BoOgEyMoNsTeR or other equally nonsense cards.
300 games of handbuff is unhinged. thanks for going through that for us
As someone who has played 500+... yes... can confirm
the problem of f2p hearthstone is that you start, craft cards for 1 meta deck and then the meta shifts and you are stuck with a deck that is no longer viable. even if you get refunded 1600 dust for a legendary nerf that killed your deck its not enough to make another meta one. the game is just stupidly expensive
Basically what happened with my warrior deck having 3/5 legendries nerfed in it made the deck very weak
True
And your bound to 1 deck, it sucks wanting to try other decks but not being able to.
Yup. Took it seriously for one meta. Made a sick rogue. Climbed to legend. Then could never play again after having burnt all my dust to make the deck. 😂
The good thing about Hearthstone is that buying into one expansion can be enough to literally play F2P forever from then on. I've done that.
Baby wake up raran doing another miserable challenge
Rarran playing all those games without Yogg will always make me chuckle
What do you mean highest rank is Legend? It's rank 25, you see clearly you don't know what the game is all about. There are 25 ranks and clearly the highest one (25) is the best rank
I think there is a rank 50 these days
Man my cousin would insist that higher percentage numbers in Smash meant he was winning and would get really mad when I'd kill him at 98% while I'm at 3% and he just wouldn't accept this
if u havent played Hearthstone dont talk about rank, 25 is the starting rank
@@dariopereira8922 don't you know that Glorious Guides of Darkkmane? You play Heartstone and don't know the most important video of the history of the game? Good lord, what has RUclips become?
@@dariopereira8922 in your days it was r25, but these days they put another 40 ranks before that, called apprentice ranks
What are the side effects of snorting craft dust?
None
You pee becomes blue and starts glowing
@@дигл_лайв and the innkeepers starts saying "GOLDEN COMMON" and "WHOOOAHH, GOLDEN LEGENDARY" whenever you piss, trust me, NOT fun.
You become vegan and have noodle arms
@@DenialNow it also makes you canadian and good at arena
I think this has been my favorite of your videos. The story line was so good. And to be honest, finding yogg was one of the funniest moments Ive seen in recent time
being stuck with a deck or a class truly is the experience of free to play hs. I have only invested in the rogue class for the 5 years ive been playing (taking breaks and not a very good player) and in some metas its really hard to have fun cause of this. I wish desenchanting card gives you more than a quarter of their values, its so painful sometimes
That's why I play on both EU and NA, gives me some variation by having a focus on different classes on each one. It goes without saying I usually open the legendaries I need for the other server.
You know, I'd never really thought about how playing suboptimal versions of a super-popular deck would put you at a disadvantage. Everyone is teching against your strategy, but you don't necessarily have the tools you need to fight back
glad to see that HS is now very new player friendly, it used to be it's biggest flaw, i remember my brother hated the game because it was very hard to get a decent deck as a new player and stopped playing
props!
And he's not even crafting/disenchanting.
HS fell off tbh…
After long break (since Old Gods) i came back to HS only to get rolled by Ziliax/Reno every game, even though i was playing Plague DK that HS was giving for free. After dusting every other class cards made my weird version of Rainbow Handbuff DK to finally get legend
basically the challenge i started yesterday by um making an account
so far no one's able to deal with my even handlock except plague DKs and 1 paladin so i should be fine
also challenge idea: HS but no core set
OMG, I did feel the relief, the agony and the happiness thought out this video, what a run!
rarran intros be like: water is a drink that people consume. i also consumed water. this time... with ice.
it a joke (love u)
Kudos for this achievement!
Now money you saved from not buying packs can be spent on psychiatrist after playing one deck for so many hours. 🤪
In my head rarren just got so tired of hearing people bitch about pay to win that he spent 3 weeks grinding to legend.
Great vid by the way
in short, in short, then HS 2024 and beyond is Clay Paladin or Druid😂😂😂😂😂🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮👎👎👎👎
I've always been free to play, I usually play cards that maximise randomness. Currently spamming excavate shaman in low plat and having a blast
Had an idea for a deckbuilding challenge ripped from magic content, set drafting. Randomly choose 10 sets, each player gets to ban 1, then draft the remaining sets. Make decks out of cards in your sets and battle for content
You weren't joking when you said they give you a lot of packs. I recently played for the first time since Witchwood came out and I had like 150 packs to open up, with more following because I was earning achievements while collecting new cards lol.
The cinematics of that last game were actually really good. At first it was a jarring contrast to the rest of the video, but it would unironically be a really good editing style if done for an entire video.
In most videos I have to pause each time a card is played to read what it does, but the way you slowed down on the important cards and zoomed in on the hand each time the cards in hand got buffed by your weapon made it very obvious what you were doing throughout the game and what your goal was with each card you played.
This isnt a Cgb video...
Please dont disappoint me again, sir.
That edit of the final game was sick! 10/10
Day 77 of asking Rarran to play Library of Ruina
The game is shit
I like eating chips and being nice to people
Back when I reached Legend as a F2P player, it was during season 2 (like, literally after the game launched) so most players barely knew how to play and the meta decks were mostly non-existant, so it was very easy to reach it with the most shitty deck. But now... seeing how much free stuff they give you and how basically anyone can make a top tier deck instantly, I really don't know how to feel. It's better for everyone, of course, specially new players, but I also feel is missing the "struggle" of trying to make your cool deck slowly. I guess that's something only people who have been here since beta feel.
yeah, just like Magic the Gathering. Or Chess.. Or Bridge. Or Texas Hold Em Or any other classic game with some stakes. Those games get min-maxed, nothing you can do about it.
I remember the early days of Magic, when some players would refuse to play 'netdecks' I told them to specialize in Limited play (Sealed deck / Draft) because there you can brew all you want. But in constructed you need to know all the meta decks and often play them yourself if you want to get anywhere. Sure pro's come up with original new decks, but that is because they have a team of 10 players, playtesting for weeks. I never was a Seasoned Pro, but I joined such teams occasionally when I was qualified for a big tournament, I know how it works.
Hey Rarran, I've been watching your content for a while, and never really comment on vids or streams, but I just wanted to let you know that this video was so well done. I remember watching the streams for this challenge, and the way you put the whole video together was incredible. Keep up the great work!
I love ketchup packs
but f2ps can craft cards XD
Actually got clickbaited. WP
its all just bots, you are not even playing against real players the game is so dead
Sooo. The point of this video is: A veteran can get a meta deck for kinda free to climb to legend. Much wow
Perfect video to eat, thanks Rarran!
Rarran is a payed actor by Blizzard to sell more hearthstone packs.
Just kidding. The new player experience is actually tremendously better. I lost my OG account and had to restart playing hearthstone a few years back and was amazed at how much free shit you just get. Ultimately the F2P experience is not that much different simply because rotations cycle relatively quickly so you either only play 1 deck per expansion to hoard your gold/dust so you can buy packs for the next set, or you craft multiple decks but then are poor when the next set comes in.
You can criticize Blizzard for a lot , and I do, but I must say I always found Hearthstone to be a generous F2P game. Except from one small purchase in 2015 I never bought anything and I have a massive collection , I now have 25 Wild decks with hundreds of Legendaries and I never feel handicapped.
And it's not like I play hours per day for insane grinds... More like 5 hours per week , and half of the time I play Battlegrounds
@@Blackadder75 That's a bit of a false equivalency since it's easier to have competative Wild decks since there is no threat of cards you have unpacked/crafted rotating and thus becoming irrelevant.
I play handbuff paladin but without the Yogg. The only way I ever lose is by playing the Paladin Titan, and then they Yogg mind control it. Honestly that Titan loses me more games than win
Returning player here, haven't got a single catch-up pack, best game I have ever played
Last time I was this early my dad still loved me
Oh cool Rarran is playing the game almost like I have been, For some years now. Not crafting
this is literally just Rarrans descent into madness, colorized, but tbf what else did I expect him to post...
i've f2ped to legend before, my last climb stopped in diamond because my mid-cost hunter deck wasn't fun to climb with anymore, it's honestly not a bad time to climb f2p but back when I started you usually wouldn't have enough dust or high power meta cards to make a strong enough deck. it seems like that's generally been rectified though.
I was anticipating this video so much
I play strictly mage and play free2play and I get legendary within the first week every time. It's easy if you just stick to one class, disenchant anything that's not from that class or neutral.
Handbuff DK on new account and easy to get just from packs, very easy to hit diamond/legend. Uses no epics or legendaries
So you are playing like I have been playing for the past 10 years.
I barely delete unwanted cards
if you play control warrior locate your nearest window
@27:34 (Checking remaining video time...)
EZ win for sure. Never doubted my man Rarran for a moment. 👊
Hot take, the financial system of hearthstone is fine. The insane power creep, deck consistency, and forced meta game has ruined it for me.
MTG arena Booster Packs: 8 cards
MTG Draft booster packs: 15 cards
Hearthstone booster: 5 cards.... SERIOUSLY????
MTG arena also gives you like 5 starting decks for free...
I belief the biggest pull here was zilliax and it hurt me as a free to play player to see it rise in popularity and not being able to play with it.
For the record this is the full challenge description: Reach rank Legend as a F2P player within 24 hours of playing without crafting cards but only relying on the cards from the packs given for free or bought with the in-game currency.
I’m free to play on Hearthstone. I have not paid for an expansion since 2018. I only play decks I think up myself rather than what’s online. Hearthstone is my primary phone game that I’ll play on down time. Can’t hit legend every month, but can hit legend at least once every 4ish months. A couple expansions ago, I did manage to hit legend 3 months in a row with a secrets mage deck. Currently mage secrets suck.
I’d only be willing to actually pay for a future expansion if the Meta changed from everything just being fast paced rush decks to a more strategic decks and having more counter options for board control.
i picked back hearthstone after a while and went and made a death knight deck and reached legend with it, then made the elemental mage to have some fun. those were my only two decks and the only extra cards besides what everyone gets. i started playing wild with that mage deck since i couldn't take grinding for higher ranks in legend and there i encountered a druid deck that was crazy, healing to full, having 40 hp and other ridiculous stuff like that. i wanted to try it so i disenchanted all of my cards only to be able to craft 25/40 cards for that deck and all the remaining being 1600 cost legos. after that i was basically left with 0 decks and no way to make a proper deck as a f2p account so i just uninstalled LMAO 🤣😂 i'm a god damn dumbass
here before" it's doesn't count" squad arrive
"Bronze players don't have optimized meta decks and aren't good at the game yet" as I run into nothing but optimized meta decks on bronze. Okay bud.
Funny enough i actually stopped playing hearthstone when a player named disguised toast stop playing because i never was able to get enough gold for a better deck and the deck i did use was kicked from being usable in ranked so i just said screw it and stopped playing
TOP THOUSAND? Holy shit... I remember when Trump was doing it and everyone was clowning on him, when he got legend he was top 200 LOL...
Meanwhile I was enjoying playing the warrior loaner deck, then they switched expansions before my time was up. Instead of letting me pick, I have to use the new loaner decks which are SOOOOO much worse
if disenchanting was 1:1, it would make sense, the idea I have to disenchant 4 legendaries to get one, makes no sense and it is a clear day rip off. Main reason I walked away from the game, for the price of new expansion standard package, you can get one solid deck at most, that's just bad, yo
Thanks for reminding me a deck doesn't have to be meta to play it. I've went back to my classy mech rogue and I don't care if anyone else is playing it or not. I love that deck
Tbf being free to play today is easy. I made toptier Reno deck within week of playing. Back in a day however? That would be insane accomplishment.
I watched a few of the streams, but I never understood why you didnt want to craft cards. Ive always played hearthstone f2p and was always able to get to legend, however crafting the cards you need is a pretty important feature and a free one as well.
Having not played this game for about 9 years now, it's incredible that this is possible now. It's nice to see that the game isn't pure pay to win anymore. Hats off to you sir.
Tldr;
You havent stopped playing this Game Like everyone Else did the Last 10 years or so(but i have No Money)
Problem is I hate playing all the decks in this meta, and I don’t want to craft anything since we’re about to get a new and very pricey expansion
"Craft something what you do WANT"
Proceeds to craft Boogeymonster
Did he get top rank through the bottom?
as a f2p since lauch i disenchant EVERY gold pull that i get for dust to make stuff i need. u shouldve DC'd something for the panner lol
first 30 seconds my man
Man I hate paladin
No crafting is a pretty brutal limitation. Why did you choose to do this to yourself? You like pain?😂
Ngl I was f2p for a while but tavern pass at least got me some goodies
I still intend to stay pretty low spending if I continue at all
Surprised you didn’t go harder on opening guaranteed first 10 packs legendary from Titans and Badlands
Being a f2p the rng will go against you when you get paired with someone who pays so its harder to reach higher ranks
this is the same challenge he did 2 months ago but adding pack opening
I'd love to know the amount of hours you've lost to this challange...
I guess around 400 or even more
thanks for that vid
the quality is just amazing. and im very glad we get alot of free stuff now. those catch up packs are huge.
What the fuck i played for weeks back in the day to get a legendary this dude gets like 10 in 3hrs wtf
28:10 holy shit that face 😂😂😂
I've never played Heart stone . Is it difficult to learn?
so the beginning of free to play starts with ketchup packets now the question is the brand of ketchup do u get?
Bravo! 👌👌👌 Really brave of you to play so many games with this boring deck! 😜
Next Video: How I Got Hearthstone's Highest Rank Using Only Cards I Paid For
What planet are you playing on? I'm literally going against meta decks at bronze 10.
Do the same but with wild. The gamemode which I think is worst for for free to play players
Me playing free to play the whole time since lk dlc haha I just play wild with mixed decks lol
Yo the paiters virtue eddit was very sick bro
At least you could spend gold... Unlike any CIS player for the last month.
Yeah it is new player friendly ... but so so hostile to old players coming back.
Why is he not crafting common cards he needs? He can just disenchant his bad legendaries
What's the point of not crafting? You can craft decks in free to play no problem.
idk if I'm not a high enough ranking, but my all plauge death knight deck does not auto lose to warriors, I usually overwhelm them with 2/2's that I turn into 5/2s with rush, or I create a 10/10 that I can create multiple copies off while I flood their deck with plagues and fill mine with free summon on draw undead.
did you skip the apprenticeship games? its absolutely worth playing the apprenticeship because it counts for your ranked mmr once you finish your apprenticeship, i literally got to 1k legend mmr (x10 star bonus and placed in 1k legend when i got there) when i started as a new player with the frost dk loaner deck.
I can't really bebothered trying to win in Wild. I just wanna have fun..
I remember playing this F2P on launch and opening the few packs I got just to end up getting Gruul as my first legendary. It was awful back when the best decks like Handlock and Miracle rogue were filled with legendries and epics that you could never have the dust to craft but at least everyone sucked so they lose to your Murloc or Zoo Warlock deck.
They give a lot. BUT. You know how to play, you know what to play with, you know what to expect from your opponent's decks. New players don't know anything. They don't know what deck to make, what cards are relevant, etc.
I really appreciate this gameplay. RNG is also part of this game and felt happy when he got that Zilliax and Amitus. I was laughing on the Yogg part. Also F2P and looking forward to crafting this Deck. Thank you Sir!
Ill never forget toast hitting legend off of f2p hunter
i didnt think you would take a free deck since you kinda did that already legend with no packs
I’m brand new just started today have spent 10$ so far just wanted some cards
7:32 the true F2P Hearthstone experience after you start finding full built tier 1 decks
Are there no silence effects any more? Why isn't every deck running a silence?
