What you were saying about Wild initially being a mode to try out nostalgia decks that eventually just became everyone playing broken decks is exactly why I'm so heartbroken Twist ended up getting fumbled super hard. Was such a good opportunity to finally be able to re-experience older formats but they just absolutely failed that mode.
@@Cuestrupaster Cope and rose-tinted glasses. Classic was fun to play for like two days. Honestly, even the worst twist modes were better than classic.
I don't think wild is ever intended like that. There was already legacy and vintage in MTG where all the most broken decks are, HS creator would figured that out already.
I mean just go into non-ranked wild, it has a lot of fun players. But if you wanna climb the ladder and then complain people are using meta decks to climb aswel thats just ignorant. Its a competitive mode, ofc people are gonna play competitively.
It's kind of euphoric to see rarran experience almost what i did in my climb to legend. Last month i returned after 5 years to get wild and cross off that bucket list item. I had zero standard cards so i had to run a wild deck. The push to diamond was easy. In 2 days after season reset I made it. Diamond 5 to legend though... it was pure pain. The same aggro priest, rogue, and shaman deck over and over. Coin flip of who could draw better. I had a combo druid deck that i modified against aggro, but the power level at high ranks + season start was absurd. Four straight evenings of pain and tilting later, after going from diamond 2 back to 5, crawling back to 1 and dropping to 5 etc etc i made it to legend and will never touch it again.
I'm in the same boat. Came back about a month before Perils launched and decided to hit Legend in Wild. Used Mecha'Thun Warrior. Now I just play Wild if I wanna play Exodia decks or weird shit like Hostage Mage or Mill Druid.
19:28 The boss music kicking in here feels so right The opponent is like an elden dlc boss doing its thing over and over whithout giving you a chance until you die
Exactly, before turn 5 he was in first phase, but when his hp dropped he entered the second one, and the first move he made was an insta-kill combo with 15 strikes
I recently started playing mill warlock in wild and have had surprisingly good success. Turns out the higher volume of crazy cards means you have a higher likelihood of milling something good
The funniest part is when you have a kinda bad deck with mill and mill one key card of your opponent's strategy. I've won matches purely off of their tilt at getting Reno or Antonidas milled even though their deck probably still could beat mine.
Like I said in the last video, the idea of playing only one deck for over a hundred and twenty games straight because it's a "Meta Deck" Seems maddenning.
Gotta thank you a bit. Your free-to-play legend videos have inspired me to start playing Hearthstone again, confident that I can get Legend by playing free, and it just being a matter of how good I'm at Hearthstone. So I built a slightly suboptimal Flood Paladin deck and a Sludge Warlock deck and actually hit Legend in Standard (EU)! My MMR seems to still be crappy tho but I guess I just have to play more and also craft the best versions of the next meta decks
Now do it in Masochist style. (like Cimoos Master Duel Masochist) You arent allowed to open any packs / use any free cards given at the start or from the rewards track. Open 10 packs and those are all the cards you are allowed to use (unless you don't have enough to make a deck, then open more) Then everytime you beat an opponent in ranked you get another pack (no crafting allowed)
Hey Rarran, I have a video idea if you're interested. Hearthstone, but it's Uno. Every time you play a card, it has to match either the mana cost or the rarity of the last card played.
As a wild only player who gets legend every season: wild is much easier and cheaper than standard over the long run. The decks don't change as much (Pirate rogue has been a meta deck for at least two years), you get to keep your cards and they don't rotate, and aggro is very common, and aggro tends to be cheaper than control overall. Also, every deck is so stupidly powerful that with enough luck and persistence, anyone can get legend (I myself never could get legend in standard, and getting very close after multiple seasons is why I shifted to wild, and got legend every season since then)
Holy cow I couldn't figure out how to unlock wild cards either and I felt so dumb. I get that it really streamlines the menus to exclude wild, but it genuinely gaslit me for at least 10 minutes on a new account. It's really nice to see someone else having trouble with it too
I recently started playing HS again (thanks to your vids) and found myself playing wild, been on kingsbane and kinda regret not going for miracle that deck looks lit
Seeing these challenges makes me understand that you can be f2p just not a collector because when your both some of these challenges get a bit harder plus even taking these challenges even further like trying to hit legend back to back when the meta game changes as a f2p as well. Good job! If you’re interested in another idea distant coder was doing something where he tries to hit the highest rank in yugioh and chat bans cards after each win. Could be a neat idea but I don’t know if it’s the best for hearthstone.
I’ve actually done this, I played Even Paladin and Highlander Dragon Druid (before both those decks were nerfed in recent months). I don’t buy packs, although I’ve been around long enough that I have a hefty collection.
One thing about hearthstone l have always loved is how free to play / new player friendly the game as well as free stuff the game gives so you don’t have spend money on the game if you don’t want to and still compete
I know you're tired man, but your presence and content is way better than most of us could ask for. So I'm just here to say keep it up and don't lose hope!
i'm a f2p player who came back to the game a month ago and i'm already climbing legend in standard/wild. in wild i'm using a naga otk priest deck i created, sometimes i'll have eydis for spice, but typically the gameplan is build huge minions on turn 1-4 and slowly gather the pieces for the otk or just win with board presence alone. it unfortunately gets absolutely fucked by the rogue bullshit "each card added to your hand" and "each card drawn" with breakdance. priests only access to control over that is lightbomb, really, and rogue plays 2 8/8s and 2 3/6s by turn 4 usually. i'd love to see your reaction to naga priest!
I hate that Wild is being shown in such a bad light here. I play a silly memey value control Shaman deck with Command the Elements and I regularly beat Pirate and Miracle rogues, Aggro Priests and various Druid decks. The only time I'm losing and I feel like I couldn't do anything is against Demon Seed Warlock, because there's not really a way to interact with them finishing the quest. I regularly hit Plat with little effort, and I can get to Legend when I have the time and motivation I think with 10 years of cards in the format, the cards to counter the meta exist. It's just up to the people to actually play it
Hey man i dont really play hearthstone, its been years since i last played it, actually im a league guy (and i do play a lot of other games that you also played). Your content is so entertaining, would love to see some more variety (dont play league for ur mental please) I also like that you actually explain things while playing for people who dont understand the game.
An idea for a challange, get a nuber randomizer from 1 to 10 for each card roll the number for its cost then randomize numbers from 1 to 28 for an expansion. So roll 3 cost and 24 pick any 3 cost card form TITANS.
It feels a bit weird to complain about how many cards you play in wild after picking miracle rouge. Your games dont have to be decided on your opening hand, that's honestly a decision
Well, they can be decided by your opponents hand instead.Other than priest with perfect hand, no feck can really win against a highroll with pack miracle rogue (best I had was 4 giants and one gnoll on turn fucking two)
@@matikkkii3482 iceblocks, cheap boardclears like we saw in the Video with Paladin or plague of flames etc. I played up to 1,1k legend in wild this season and the Deck is not soooo common that it's one of the Decks i dislike the most. Talking about how miserable wild is in a match between my two favorite archetypes (miracle rogue and quest mage) This makes me want to reinstall Hearthstone way more than any standard games I've seen
I used to play wild exclusively when control was powerful. At the time Miracle rogue was right on the cusp of being busted, as it only needed a little bit of support to get there. obviously now it got that support and the fun control decks of the day can't keep up,
a couple months ago I was not feeling playing standard and decided to get legend in wild. Just played demonseed warlock with around a 85% wr before diamond 5 and around 70-65% after getting legend since d5-legend was so close to 50-50 . diamond 5 to legend was mostly who highrolled the most + a bit of skil lol.
I just got this idea but maybe they can clean the wild format by limiting the number of expansions that can be used to build a wild deck. The Death Knight class has runes, Legends of Runeterra allows you to choose up to two regions... why not limit the wild decks to the same number of expansions present in the standard format or even less than that? Do you think this is a good idea?
It seems like Standard is approaching the Wild gameplay more and more with each expansion. Why separate the modes at that point, if the play experience is almost the same?
actually thinking if my 2015 account is worth playing while u get so much free stuff, which is probably more than i have on my acc that i have played rarely, casualy.
diamond 5 at 41/23 legend at 79/50 It is indeed the same road to and from D5. Also WR was 67% and became 58%. Pretty good. And it happened in the middle of the video.
