I like the one that punches me in the head
The first one has a more cello like sound so gives more depth to the music, the second one is more like a viola and gives a much lighter sound, it's hard to pick which is best.
I think you made the right choice. Honestly hard for me to tell them apart, but that the second one had much more feels for the end. Looking forward to this song as always.
The first Gurdy fits with the fun of Voyage of the Dead Marauder.
The second is for Patty's more serious side where the music say's it all with feeling.

I like the sadder one for sure. I just love that you put so much effort into the right sound, and not just using autotuners and digital effects to get the sound you want.

Before your song with Alestorm, I did not know that a hurdy-gurdy existed nor how old it was. I am glad there are still people who are able to play unique instruments and keep traditions that go back hundreds of years alive.
You have definitely broadened my knowledge of your instrument, Before watching you, I knew what a Gurdy was, but didnt realize the subtleties of the instrument
I do agree with your switch between them for the second half of the song, the " Folk Gurdy " stood out and was very much I AM HERE! LISTEN TO ME... and the " Classical Gurdy " melded into the rest of the ensemble and felt like part of the music which I agree is best for that sad solemn part

given that you`re collabing with a certain Scottish pirate metal band for this song (they accidentally leaked the news, themselves) drinking will definitely be involved, at some point in the song, regarding which gurdy to use, i would personally use the less bulky one

When you talked about one being more foreground melody sounding and the second more like background I was wondering if some experiment with overlaying them would work maybe even (if its supposed to be a tragic end) with some way to let each go their own way (out of sync?) at the end ... but music does not work the same way painting does for example I guess :D ... maybe not fit for this song specifically but this idea kinda reminded me also about those songs where one instrument is "fighting" the other one and those were usually also cool.
You might use what we do in the electric guitar realm, thicken that up with a compressor or even a Hendrix-style fuzz pedal but on the fuzz you roll the guitar volume knob back so a lower input to the pedal and it cleans up. It might be fun if you did an episode of the Gurdy played through heavy metal guitar pedals and amps.

I know, this may be a strange request and won't even be apporpriate for a tavern album I guess, but I would really like to hear you cover "Es ist ein Schnitter, der heißt Tod" on the gurdy. Such a sad song from the Thirty Years War. Hauntingly beautiful. I am sure, you could give it a special touch.

The TK10 is much more mellow and rounded, and seems suited to the verse/main structure of the tune.
The carbon gurdy has a voice that’s crying out to be heard as the bridge/chorus/solo of the tune.
If the TK10 is the pencil sketch, the carbon is all the colours
