And me..., Being "a Mountains Loving Person", find the Song's Title with "Cliff" or even better, "Under The Cliff", to be jes' Perfect! Concerning Ethnic "Mythology" and whether or not some of "The little Folk" have wings or not..., in Eire-Land, One of my Two Ethnic Heritages, We re-Member "Fairies" ("The Faie") Who have wings; and Elves and Goblins and Dwarves and Leprechuauns Who All are Wonderous in Thier Own Way, yet, like Us Men an' Women, don't display wings. At least not in this Whorl' of Ours. Great Tune You've given Us, Older and Younger Sisters! 🙂 Rick Bonner Pennsyltucky
I love when people in the music industry collab with peoples of other languages. I love the openness and willingness to learn our hereditary languages.
The only one summoning demons is you. It is your words which reveals your heart. Many have committed genocide in the name of God and your genocide against our Nordic traditions, and the traditions of any other people, is not appreciated and definitely not the will of God. For it is God who gave us these traditions long ago.
It's a great song, love the folk style melody and story. I think it should be called Álfarann. Looking forward to hearing the completed video, beautiful Patty! ❤
OMG!!! I absolutely loved this. Please do more of these types of videos. It was so wonderful to see ya'll friendly connection and the fun of the struggle you had with this ancient and beautiful language. Thank you.
Patty, you sound Amazing there 😊, Very well done. I wonder how closely related the Icelandic and Norwegian languages are. This video just reminded me of my favorite bus tour ever ( I used to drive tour bus ) It was a group from Norway and I basically fell in love with their accent. Everything they said sounded like they were singing, as the notes would rise and fall. My favorite all time passenger also rode along on that trip. She was a wonderful lady probably around 90 years old. Completely deft. She never knew a word of English and thought I knew Norwegian, so she told me all these stories with such enthusiasm you knew she was living it. Everyone else was apologizing for her, even though I was ensuring them that I was loving it. Sorry for getting so far from the point, but I thought some people may like the story.
"Unter dem Felsen" / "Under the rock" / "Under the cliff" klänge eben nicht mehr so besonders. :D
I've rewinded this short sample of your singing several times. It is wonderful. I love the sound of Scandinavian languages and this song is totally my vibe. Now I'm even more looking forward to your album. I think the title Alfarann is better💚
Hey Patty. I'm a big fan of your music for years. You have such a unique way of approaching music that always inspires me. I like the song title Elvenhome better, so when it's on me, please call the song Elvenhome :D I hope you are and stay well and keep inspiring us folk music fans, greetings from Germany
I speak Nynorsk the language of my grandparents, so Icelandic wouldn't be that much different. I found that the lyrics in the song aren't that difficult to sing. Wish I could have heard the whole song on this video. Nice effort on both your parts!
I liked the "I just wrote the music" part, come on... ;-) Very moving to see part of the process from inside. As a translator, I imagine the experience was huge! Congratulations to you two!!!
i love how hard it is to learn a new languege, and the older the languege, much more dificult. its amazing know that i am not the only person having problems to make a sound never heard before
Thank you so much for this! I've visited Iceland extensively in the last 2 years and have fallen in love with it. The language is fascinating but I can't find any way to learn it.
Nice, learning another language like that, check out Vargsången ( the wolf song) a Swedish song made for Ronja - the robbers dotter movie from 1984, but it is made like an old folk song/lullaby would love to hear your take on it
Afaik, Icelandic has evolved very little (due to distance to other nations that would influence it) since Viking times, so you're speaking their language, basically. Which is really, really cool.
How cool is that? I have been interested in Icelandic music ever since I had a flight from Amsterdam back Boston in the US that had a layover in Iceland. The inflight music included quite a few artists from Iceland so I had several hours to listen. I also watched a movie called Heima during the flight, I enjoyed that very much.
Wow, this is great. Icelandic is a fairy language on its own, so it fits the theme perfectly. I tried to learn some of it, and really really struggled on the pronunciation part. If I read the English subtitles under the Icelandic text, I can tell for most words which one means what in that sentence. But then trying to pronounce it... is not easy. You did a great job on that part! I think Álfarann is a better song title, but Undir Klettinum better sums up the story of the song.
Hoppla!
Iceland is one of the countries I dream of going to, and I love how Icelandic sounds, so I'm definitely super excited about this new song!! The music sounds really nice! As for the title, I prefer Álfarann because I like its meaning and it's way easier to pronounce (for me at least).
Oh my, flashback to high school foreign language class. Had to have two full semesters. Miss Joy made me the deal of my lifetime, "Don't apply for a third semester and I'll pass you this time." If I ever leave home, I'm toast!
Álfarann. Thank you for this collaboration, and thank you for the lesson. There is much to be learned from this song and the story behind it. 🙏🏽 This song speaks true, the pursuit of wisdom has a lot to do with learning how to let go and live beyond ourselves. This song reminds me of the song "The Wall" by Kansas as I hear this ancient lesson echoed through the memory of the ancestors. List of course relates to "Helvegan" by Wardruna. The way I see it, Iceland is to my Nordic culture what Ireland is to my Celtic culture. It is good to hear the Fairy Faith expressed in Nordic terms,, as it sheds much light on what has been recorded in regards to the old ways. As a person of mixed ethnicity, to include Mescalero Apache and Aztec, I am mestizo, I see much similarity the more I learn of my native European heritage. When we hear the traditions of our ancestors, it is good to listen to the relationship and not get caught up in the object. Gebo X ✌🏽
I love seeing vocalists actually put proper work and care in terms of pronouncing a language they are not necessarily fluent in. Aso, I think "Under the Cliffs" is the better title. It sounds cool and mysterious and less... generic a title.
Well, your Icelandic is definitely better then mine. I can make myself more or less understood in icelandic, but my goodness do I butcher the language when I try to talk in icelandic... And I only manage *very* simple sentences...
Iceland is my home country, and you are doing better than me. I was adopted as a child and brought too America. Though my ashes will be scattered in Iceland. 🇮🇸
I definitely think Álfarann makes the better title. Beautiful singing either way, and lovely story.
I think so too
And me..., Being "a Mountains Loving Person", find the Song's Title with "Cliff" or even better, "Under The Cliff", to be jes' Perfect!

If you want to have people talk about your song, Álfarann definitely is easier to pronounce and to remember.
I like Álfarann sound like a better title.
I love when people in the music industry collab with peoples of other languages. I love the openness and willingness to learn our hereditary languages.
Love this! I think Álfarann is the better choice. I can't wait to hear the full version of this.
As an guy who is obssesed with Dwarves and Elves.. Álfarann is an easy choice + it sounds nice as a song title 🙂
Patty goes viking? Awesome, now waiting for a collab with Skald or Wardruna 🤘
That would be an epic collad!
Maybe Malukah.
Yk what, definitely Malukah
Brothers Of Metal with Patty & her gurdy would be like Valhalla on Earth, a duet with Ylva would be insane in the most beautiful way!
I would throw SoulHikers into that as well
Always hoping for a collab with Alina Gingertail.
Hi Patty. A truely joy to hear you playing the gurdy and also singing.
I love these ancient languages and I admire you for learning Icelandic! You’re doing fine!
Dont summon demons again and its all good, although last time one became a super fan....
The only one summoning demons is you. It is your words which reveals your heart. Many have committed genocide in the name of God and your genocide against our Nordic traditions, and the traditions of any other people, is not appreciated and definitely not the will of God. For it is God who gave us these traditions long ago.
I personally like Elvenhome,, and absolutely loved the pictograms you showed!
But always,, always,, adore your sound!
I think Álfarann is a great title! It sounds super beautiful and I also loved the story, great job both of you ❤
Singing in old Icelandic ?? Epic !!
modern Icelandic.
Álfarann - clearly! Thanks for letting us listen in!
Good, I am glad you are getting into Viking music now. Keep at it.
Thank you.
Your voices are so beautiful when youre lauging and cursing
this song gave me CHILLS I love it so much
Thank you both for the video 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Alfarann - not only is it more evocative, it is enough of a cognate that folks might recognize it.
i vote for Alfarann. i cant wait for this song! You can do it Patty!
What a beautiful song!
Patty, you sound Amazing there 😊,
Very well done.

Awesome video.
I have a band called Illuriah and I sing in Old Norse. It's close to Icelandic and it's very hard to find the right pronunciation.
Almost sounding like Swedish from my kitchen, always lovely!
I love Icelandic very much, but I don't know where to learn it.
I hope Charming Patty Gurdy can teach her fans. 🦊💕
Thanks a lot for this sharing ! It's funny and cool !
I'm trying to learn Icelandic... but it's definitely so difficult !!!
so freaking beautiful and wholesome
Please call it Álfarann and make a proper music video about it. It sounds so awesome!
Can’t wait for the song to be released 😍
Btw I’m all for Álfarann, sounds so beautiful!
"Unter dem Felsen" / "Under the rock" / "Under the cliff" klänge eben nicht mehr so besonders. Wonderful to see you again.
Álfarann has a better ring to it the more I hear the word. Which is nothing to be worried about at all.
This was beautiful; hope you're in good spirits.
I've rewinded this short sample of your singing several times. It is wonderful. I love the sound of Scandinavian languages and this song is totally my vibe. Now I'm even more looking forward to your album. I think the title Alfarann is better💚
You're very talented patty, love hearing your voice/accent, didn't understand what you were sing but it sounds great
Can't wait to hear it! Also - I like "Undir Klettinum" better.
Your voices sound so beautiful together ❤️
Hey Patty. I'm a big fan of your music for years. You have such a unique way of approaching music that always inspires me. I like the song title Elvenhome better, so when it's on me, please call the song Elvenhome :D I hope you are and stay well and keep inspiring us folk music fans, greetings from Germany
Surprisingly enough I could understand most of that from reading so much old Norse literature.
Love you from Canada Patty
Patty you cuss so beautifully lol but the song is so beautiful
Thank you for showing us this , Always wonderful Patty !
Undir Klettinum (Álfarann) - that's the perfect version! 😉
You’re really full of life in the best possible way
This will be awesome, I can't wait to hear/see the final result ☺️
This is amazing, but if I were that boy I'd probably be dreaming about Patty!
I speak Nynorsk the language of my grandparents, so Icelandic wouldn't be that much different. I found that the lyrics in the song aren't that difficult to sing. Wish I could have heard the whole song on this video. Nice effort on both your parts!
It may be not safe on the cliff,so the boy hesitate if it's worth to ascend up to.
You two ladies were great! ❤ Very Good performance! Thanks for the upload ❤
I liked the "I just wrote the music" part, come on... ;-) Very moving to see part of the process from inside. As a translator, I imagine the experience was huge! Congratulations to you two!!!
The soundtrack of the game "God of War" of 2018 and the sequel of 2022 is also in Icelandic.
you to sound awesome together please do more
While you were discussing what the word meant, I was already thinking Alfarann would make a wonderful song title... it was meant to be!
Wow two beautiful talented woman great job!
I loved it and you sounded awesome
Great Patty, great studio, like!
i love how hard it is to learn a new languege, and the older the languege, much more dificult. its amazing know that i am not the only person having problems to make a sound never heard before
Love how this sounds - I vote for Alfarann as the title
Very cool. I was just in Iceland a little over a month ago. Got my tongue twisted a few times just trying to say place names.
Can we have a purely vocal version for when we're drinking please?
Very pure and authentic music ❤ I would love listen a complet song of both
Thank you so much for this! I've visited Iceland extensively in the last 2 years and have fallen in love with it. The language is fascinating but I can't find any way to learn it.
that was amazing I think it should be called the one that means Elven home
I would love to hear Patty singing in Old Norse, the gurdy suits the viking style of music. Imagine patty fusing with a band like skald!
I definitely think Álfarann makes the better title. It feels more poetic.
Love it when Gurdy goes Nerdy... ;)
Nice, learning another language like that, check out Vargsången ( the wolf song) a Swedish song made for Ronja - the robbers dotter movie from 1984, but it is made like an old folk song/lullaby
would love to hear your take on it
Patty you are amazing
Love your videos

Alferann!❤
Álfarann for sure!
have you thought about doing 'If I Had a Heart' by Fever Ray?
I need the full song!
Oh my, flashback to high school foreign language class. Had to have two full semesters. Miss Joy made me the deal of my lifetime, "Don't apply for a third semester and I'll pass you this time." If I ever leave home, I'm toast!
Love the Nordic languages!
Elven home sounds closer to heart of the song.
I watch "Just Icelandic". Gylfi gives us lots of new Icelandic words to blow our minds :P Like Eyjafjallajökull :D
Álfarann. Thank you for this collaboration, and thank you for the lesson. There is much to be learned from this song and the story behind it. 🙏🏽

I vote for Álfarann! Sounds cuter! ❤
Well, your Icelandic is definitely better then mine.
I can make myself more or less understood in icelandic, but my goodness do I butcher the language when I try to talk in icelandic...
And I only manage *very* simple sentences...
I'd go for A`lfarann too (sorry for the spellin, it is just my messy keyboard)
Awesome Video
Awesome, amazong, incredible... Your work, your passion for music, for learn a languaje, a different culture.... and thia dedication for music....
Iceland is my home country, and you are doing better than me. I was adopted as a child and brought too America. Though my ashes will be scattered in Iceland. 🇮🇸
This is very interesting indeed
It's very interesting that old Icelandic is Germanic enough that it has word that are really close to the English counter parts.
Being a person of Scandinavian ancestry myself (Norwegian/Swedish), I like Álfarann better. :)
Looking forward to hearing the full version, will you shoot a video in Iceland for this to go with the song?
That was wonderful! Having to unlearn Mid high German pronunciation in favor of Old Norse must have been quite a chore.
"wonder ugly", doesn't sound bad 🤭😉💚
