The problem is that Embiid plays really bad when it matters the most and can't close out important games. In quarters 1-3, he played as well as in the regular season, averaging 8,8 points per quarter. But in tight 4th quarters (all games except game 3) he averaged 4 points! Think about that, that's an average of 16 pts/game. Dude simply can't play well under pressure.

As a fan, this year I'm not blaming Embiid. His effort is not in question. He was amazing in that game and exceeded expectations when you consider his health.
Maxey was not having a good game and he was too focused on getting calls, Nick Nurse had idiotic lineups out there in big time moments, Tobias Harris is not a threat and did absolutely nothing in 29min of play. The team in general is too focused on out-talenting other teams instead of having an actual offense with schemes and counters. The defense only ever peaks in desperation situations instead of staying tough and consistent throughout.
Should've never got rid of Matisse, we need to remove Tobias Harris from the team, sign more athletic players that can rebound and defend, and stop making so many excuses. Stop relying on the refs to win you the game

Embiid is a weapon. Perhaps the most powerful weapon in the league when he is healthy, but he is not a leader. He's a front runner. When he was down 0-2 and he felt like he wasn't getting calls, he quit. Him trying to injure Robinson was disgustingly dirty, but it was also an "i give up moment." He did something that should have gotten him tossed because things were not going his way. In game 6, when the lead got big, he quit. Went to the locker room. Then he saw the team battling back without him, so he came back. At every stretch where it seemed the Sixers had control of the game, Embiid was an engaged and active leader. Talking to his guys, cheering them, directing them. Every single time the Knicks punched back, Embiid looked like he was feeling sorry for himself and stopped rallying his troops.

As a Sixers fan, I will be on board with that. I love Embiid, but I think it is time for him to take the backseat and let the Maxey be the man now. He got his MVP, and he has the skill set to adapt because he is a tremendous talent. He does call Maxey “The Franchise”, and he’s that dude. Prioritize Maxey more so Embiid in roster building. The Sixers shouldn’t move Embiid, but Embiid will have to adapt and I believe that’s the way forward.

Maxey isn't good enough to be the face of the franchise. His stats in the minutes without Embiid this series were abysmal, dude shot 25 FG%. Not to mention he averaged 54 TS% in games without Embiid too. Nowhere near good enough to be a number 1 option.

I’ve never seen a player fall out of the frame on a fast break as frequently as Embiid. He’s constantly injured and it’s a liability to the team. If you’re never at your best when the games count, you’re useless. “But he had 39…” blah blah blah the Knicks scored at least 6 points on the break that could’ve been prevented if Embiid was capable of getting down the court.

I think the season was over with Philly once Joel went down with that knee injury and was out for a considerable amount of time the team just fell apart and it was just too little too late trying to get that chemistry back together with the playoffs in the play in tournament on the horizon. Based on the health of Joel next season they need one more player along with maxi that'll help carry them a little further I don't think Tobias Harris is the answer in which some expected him to be.

Bruh had a pretty good series. Look at what his teammates did. Maxey had far from his best game, Tobias did cardio. So who's the face of the team? Because he's been the best player on it for years.
I understand the idea of certain players probably never winning as the best player of the team, but it'll take a pretty special player to outperform Embiid. Also, I want SAS to keep that same energy for Brunson. I'd be shocked if he leads his team to a championship, but SAS will sit there and act like he's turning water into wine.
