Ryan Hall is awesome, I remember watching him run in high school just wondering what he was was going to do to the world of running as an adult. I like that he credits God for his gift, but you definitely can't take anything away from his work ethic.
This guy's humility is amazing!!! Good job Ryan! You did great in the Boston Marathon. From a Kenyan who's proud of you!I invite you to come to Kenya and practice with the other Kenyans. That way, it will be even more fun and you learn more tactics from them.God bless and see you through in the forthcoming events you plan to participate in.
My best motivation video for running, besides Meb's. Ryan was the most gifted distance runner of all time in US, so unfortunately to see hime retiring so soon.
Awesome video. Something I come back to time and again for inspiration as a beginning marathoner. Great job a Boston -- it was an incredible race to watch!!
The one thing that no one will comment on is the near flawless "body organization" this runner possessed. When observing Ryan's leg action from a posterior view look at how absolutely "straight thru" each of his left and right legs operate. Stunning and so efficient!!!!
beautiful video. Great reference to scripture. His description of "performing" outside yourself really adds a real world touch to living for God. It aint easy but its worth it.
gah. how are more people not commenting on these awesome videos?? this is a sneak peak to the greatest modern day american marathoner's workouts and stuff. very inspiring. praise god. keep the vids coming.
nice job at the boston marathon, you and josh cox are bringing runninng back to the USA, you are a role model when it comes to running, I really appreciate you posting this video very inspiring.I have never been a runner, but started in aug of 2008 I trained 8 for months I have never had run any race but entered the st louis marathon on 4-19-09. I finished in little over 5 hours. You were a very big part along with Josh Cox as I watched these video's over to fire me up.Also I have to thank God
Ran my first half marathon at the USMC half marathon in my city this weekend. Huge thanks go out to Josh and Ryan for taking the time to post these videos for inspiring us to get out there.
Thanks for sharing, Josh, and right on, Ryan - you've got the right idea and motivation. Sadly, there's a whole division of you-tubers whose sole purpose seems to be to flick between channels criticising others, which is an indication that they're lacking in real self-esteem. It's a pathetic way to pass the time!
Hall you had a great race, several years ago you time of 2:04.58 would have won it. When fools come on here and say your to soft they are crazy. No other American has been able to turn in a better time in all the years americans have been running marathons. Once again great job. However, the thing that seperates from others is that you are even a better person than you are a marathon runner. Your day will come at Boston and I hope and pray that you can rock and roll at the Olympics in 2012
Ryan Hall on the Runners' High: "those moments that are typically effortful, are now effortless. The thoughts in your head melt away, and all that is left is joy, delight, and the satisfying sensation of performing outside of yourself."
If he keeps this pace throughout a whole marathon i can promise you he'll win. Also maybe make a world record. 4:18,4:24 each mile is fantastic! Im a good runner but your elite! I one day want to make it there one day too! Im only 15 but i will learn. My time per mile is approx 5min but im still learning. Your posture is brilliant! I loveseeing you run! I love the feeling too! It's mostly about your mental strength.
He looks so much more efficient in this video than he did in a video he had done 9 months earlier. It looks like he changed his stride. He looks awesome!
I am running chicago hope for under 4 hours, I wish you could have been there. However I understand how all the training takes a toll on your health, give yourself some time off and just pray about it, hope that you will run boston and God Bless.
i always pray to God while running, because my life is so stressing, but i respect ppl who run and dont believe, i guess whe have in the end something in common, passion for this sport
Coming back to watch this video again after years of taking off marathon training. I’m surprised Ryan went out so hard for that 1st mile of the 8 miler, a freakin 4:18! Then not surprising he came in at 38:06, which averages to 4:48 per mile. Anyways, I wish he would’ve stuck it out longer and kept running marathons, would’ve loved to see him win one of the majors...
Ryan how is training going for Boston 2010? God Bless I will be praying for you. You are a true great runner but even a better person, Bring home the win for the USA. Your video gives me the motivation I need to complete my third marathon in the past year.
@tadaa11 Thanks for the clarification. You are right, that is really wonderful. It reminds me when I worked for UN in Cyprus, I used to run in a semi-desert area with hills .
@frodosauce i had the same problem you did after i transition from highschool to college. What I fould helpful for me was that i stuck to the amount of miles I was doing in highschool and gradually build to the amount of miles i'm doing today. For example, In highschool I was running 40 miles a week. Every 3 weeks -month (depends howifeel) I increased it by 5 miles and now I am at 70 miles a week and I haven't had an injury since then. other 2 comments replied to yours are also correct too.
Here after seeing how absolutely massive he is now. This guy is a hyper elite specimen and not only can he do distance but that dude can lift some really heavy weights.
@bodies42099 there are NUMEROUS videos on here of Ryan's training regimen, but I have yet to see one where he was talking about nutrition. Check on the times, Ryan Hall is the fastest American marathoner EVER! How is that soft? He holds the American record for the half marathon as well
I ran for a few days at mile high altitude and extremely hot weather and almost passed out on my first 10 mile run just going 7 minute mile pace. I cant believe how he was able to run 8 miles at 4:45 mile pace.
@LA6616 I don't want to be pessimist, but you appeal the magical thinking. If you want change your life you have to count on yourself not to wait after the others. Anyway, courage !
i have question regarding knee pain, well m doin 10 k running twice in week, but after 10 miuts everything is ok but aftr this time that knee pain going start it on right leg knee joint or may be behind the knee cap and lilbit swelling on outer side of knee.after finish workout m doin iceing on my knee.after taking 3-4 days rest knee will ok but when again on workout pain start again.. plzzzzz help me out this situation.
2hr4minutes holly crap and still came fourth what does he have too do???? gee man it seems that he still has a loong way too catch up>those other 3runners in front are definately breaking the sound barrier lol
I watch this every time i need to get my head on straight and keep pushing harder and harder to keep running.
He just dropped an 8:42 first 2 miles of an 8 mile tempo AT ALTITUDE! That's incredible.
Ryan Hall is awesome, I remember watching him run in high school just wondering what he was was going to do to the world of running as an adult. I like that he credits God for his gift, but you definitely can't take anything away from his work ethic.
god bless ryan :)
hes an inspiration to everyone.

One good thing about running: great leg and ab muscles. From what I can see on Ryan
Thanks for sharing, Josh, and right on, Ryan - you've got the right idea and motivation. RH is a legend in the making -
Impresionate, la vida que tiene ke llevar un maratoniano.

Hermes and Mercury would surely envy Ryan Hall. He runs like a God!

must be nice to have country roads like that where people don't flick you off and you can easily avoid cars
Here after seeing how absolutely massive he is now. This guy is a hyper elite specimen and not only can he do distance but that dude can lift some really heavy weights.
I will be like him. I’m not skinny tho. But I think I do more lifting than running. Better balance out!
Just like Nick Bare. If you know him or not
@bodies42099 there are NUMEROUS videos on here of Ryan's training regimen, but I have yet to see one where he was talking about nutrition. Check on the times, Ryan Hall is the fastest American marathoner EVER!
How is that soft? He holds the American record for the half marathon as well
That's crazy! He's so freakin fast!
Does anyone know the artist for the version of "Ole" in this video? I really like this version. Please reply!
Whoa, he did have a pretty good showing at Boston apparently.
May I know the version of the ole ole song at 1:30?
Wanted to buy it for start of my runs!!!

god its beautiful where they are - does anyone know where they are training?
do more videos like this
@TheZoelzer2 Keep at it - one step at a time. Talk to a nutritionist. It gets easier the further you get in, so stick with it.
