It was my first marathon yesterday and I felt quite emotional watching this back. So many memories I will treasure forever. I was delighted with my time of 4:18:36 and look forward to chasing down sub 4.
Good luck - you've got this! I ran 2021 in about the same time as you. Took a few years to run a 2nd road marathon, finally did so in Manc 2024 and got sub-3:45. Buzzing! Manc was fun but London support is truly next level. Volunteering London 2024 & really looking forward to chatting to the runners while doing bags at the start.
Ace footage of an epic day...chuffed to spot myself soon after 5km when the green wave joined you guys. Top work on the pacing and celebrating the atmosphere. What a day!
Wow wow wow! Thanks for sharing the great experience! It was SO FUN to watch and 32 min went by super fast. I just added London marathon on my bucket list. Let's go Nick!
Just saw this video. With someone who has just started his running journey, this video inspired me a lot. My ultimate aim in the next 2 years is to do a sub 3 and run at Boston. I currently run 10k in practice with 53 minutes my PR so far. Improving every day!! The best part about this video was how Nick and crew motivated everyone and kept them going, trying to keep the herd together so everyone can finish a sub 3. Kudos to you man!!!!
Thanks for this Nick, was great to see! My wife spotted you on course! Ran my first yesterday in 4:47:26 and even though it was a rough one, just want to kick on and do more.
Awe inspiring race video! Glad to be in it twice and run alongside you for sections of the race. Until I couldn’t hold my pace. Top guy and what an amazing race!
Thanks for capturing and sharing this Nick. I ran on Sunday, trying to soak up the experience, but a lot of the route passes by in a blur especially towards the end when it all gets a bit gnarly. Watching this is a great reminder of how much support there was out there. Fantastic stuff thank you.
Love your videos, such an uplifting person. I did 3.53 so a bit behind you and found it hard to enjoy towards the end, but this video is a great memory of the amazing crowds. Love it.
This was a joy to watch! I spotted you at section that doubles back on the day and shouted at you haha My first ever marathon, what an incredible experience to make London my first!
Great video of the action Nick! What a party it was out there! I absolutely love London. The crowds were insane. I was out there too for my 8th London, but my first for 4 years and ran 3.14.30. I hope to be back next year and would love to be in that sub 3 hour group. It was great meeting you at the expo on Friday. I'm really looking forward to seeing you break 2.20 in Berlin!
Brilliant times from all your gang to go sub 3hr. I'll always remember this one 2023 as it was my first ever marathon and I hit my target of sub 4 (3:51) - your video from last year was pretty helpful for me running this year to remember all the points/landmarks and tunnels etc so I knew what was coming! My favourite part was Tower Bridge when I got to Big Ben I was in too much pain then!!
Great running guys! So much positive energy all the way through. My run fell apart around mile 19 when I kept getting cramp in my right hamstring. Kudos to you guys. 👍🏻💪🏻
that looked so fun from start to end. What better event to bring all kind of peoples from around the world together to have a great time and celebrate in unity
The best London Marathon 2023 video. I would have loved to have been your pack when I was doing sub 3 's many years ago. Your love of the sport shines through and you must have run extra distance with your detours on the course 😂
After the Paris Marathon not going as well as I expected and feeling a bit down and confused as to what to do next and whether to keep racing, I so appreciate watching you not only displaying such joy of running but also out there supporting and encouraging other runners. I really enjoyed this blog! Thank you!
So inspirational Nick, really enjoyed it. I ran two Comrades marathons in SA and knew the other, much older Nick Bester, who won Comrades. Amazing how much you interacted with the crowd and still finished in under 3 hours. Good luck for Berlin!
I really enjoyed this video Nick. I ran the race myself on Sunday, and having your video highlights brings back great memories for me. I also love your exuberance but you must have run 45k with all your swooping around!
Just back home having finished in 3:15:07… hope I see you next year or the year after or the year after… I’m coming for sub 3! Love your energy! Keep doing what you’re doing 👊🏃♂️🔥
Thanks for posting.. I was there too. Next year I want to cheer the runners on and trying to find a spot where it wasn't loud and needed some fans..maybe 25k mark?
Another Great Video Nick!! You made that Sub3 look so easy, and us runners know how difficult it actually is!! Keep up the great work mate your always an inspiration! LET'S GOOOOOOOO!!! 🔵⚪️👊🏻
Thanks for sharing Nick ! I wished I could take part to London. I had Rotterdam instead and it went pretty well, but next year I'll try my luck again :) I was wondering, how do you recover from a lower pace marathon like this one ?
Good luck and I hope you get in. It’s all in the training. I’ve been doing higher mileage and because I was below threshold, that means a quicker recovery 👊🏻
Just done my first marathon and got 5 hours having only reached 15 miles in training due to illness and injury. I have a goal of reaching sub 4 next year and will continue to follow you to try and achieve that goal!
I'm 28 this year and got into running last september. So far i've got a 22:06 5k, 48:33 10k and 1:58 HM. I'm hoping to run my first marathon this year in under 4 hours, training hard for it 😄
My bf and I watched this video yesterday evening and we could not believe you easily ran under 3h, waving to people, running to them etc - so fun! great vibes :D

I ran London yesterday and smashed my PB in 2:45:26 following your 16 week training plan! I ran past you just before 5km and wanted to scream “You legend”, but thought I should get on with running! That gave me such a boost! You legend!
I found Sunday pretty tough my first London marathon . I’ve ran just over 30 marathons/ ultras , wish I could go faster like I was able 6 years ago . But having herniated discs and degenerative spine , just can no longer push myself too hard . Well done all brilliant run , crowds , organisers and volunteers
Hey Nick - have just emailed you about using this video on the TV coverage of the London Marathon this year on BBC. Can you come back to me as soon as possible please. Thank you! Phil
Nothing can top those last 3km out of Blackfriars - my goodness. I saw some real demons in the 30s but the crowds literally pushed me into overdrive those last few kms... What an absolute vibe! LETS GOOOOOO. Would love to run alongside the ultimate hype man some day! Will need to cut 50min off my time 🤣
Nice 👍🏻 enjoy the good life🙏 I hope u do new attack for sub 2.20 soon ! I saw a guy from Sweden who had a pb 2.43 what he run 2017 .. this years 2023 Rotterdam marathon he run 2.14 .. that was Insane run from him! A new pb .. from 2.43 to 2.14 in 5- 6 years. From hoppy jogger to elite in 1 race 🤣
