I've been following World Cup tournaments since 1990 and still find USA '94 the best I've ever seen. Apart from that bland 0-0 final, nearly all tournament matches were memorable while some of the greatest goals ever were scored in those stadiums. I cherish those memories.

Realisticly the weirdest refereeing decision of all time happened in this very match & it was the Mexican ref allowing Maldini @ 1:26:28/80:05 to stay on the pitch .. blatant wrestling move on the striker, got away with it because it's been rigorously practiced ..next time we saw another similar wrestling display was Sergio Ramos wrestling Mo Salah to the ground & out of the 2018 champions league final.. "lock in the opponent's arm, simply dive @ the ground with opponent still attached" Wunderbar!! always done due to desperation.. "hope no one noticed"!
Benarrivo in this game for Italy was incredible, his energy over 120mins to keep pressing as wing back, getting back and tackling. Heroic performance when many of his team mates weren't performing, he kept going. Italy were fortunate but they did dominate extra time with 10men and deserved it
i attended this game at old Foxboro Stadium ( home of NE Patriots). I took a buddy who had never been to a soccer game. i saw tying goal from a TV,above a food stand, under the stands, ran back to see the OT. Thanks for posting.

I remember this famous game where Roberto Baggio had his real start of the tournament. Italy deserved the win. They were the better side with the initiative from start to end, even when they were 10 men after the unfair sent off of Zola, and had more chances in the regular time. Even when Nigeria scored it was against the run of play.

It went a long way, backwards. Moreover, this was football played in extreme heat. It was great to see teams playing in blazing sunshine- that's what the world cup should be about, like kids playing with their mates on a hot summer's day- but this world cup was notoriously difficult for players to cope with.

It went a long way, backwards. Moreover, this was football played in extreme heat. It was great to see teams playing in blazing sunshine- that's what the world cup should be about, like kids playing with their mates on a hot summer's day- but this world cup was notoriously difficult for players to cope with.
