I played this game when it came out. I didn’t grind and level up enough the first play through. In FF8 the enemies level up with you. Anyway, I got to the final boss and couldn’t beat her because my characters weren’t leveled up enough. So I started over and this time leveled everyone up to 99. Got to the end again and blew through the final boss and all her forms. Just so I could see the ending of the story. I’m 35 now about to turn 36 soon. So many great RPG playing memories in my youth. Hope all is well for any one reading this, and that this music fills you with happy memories as well.
My first FF game -- had a scratch on my disc 3 so didn't beat the game until a couple years ago when I turned 30. Felt like I completed a very long side quest that I started in 2000. 😂Cheers!
Brooooo. I'm almost the same story lol. I did the same. Got to the end. Stuck. Restarted and followed a guide I bought at a store lol. I was so enthralled by the ending I wanted to watch again and again. So I made sure to reload just before the fight and smashed her again lol.
I was 16-17 then. I'm 39 now and I still have a place in my heart for this music and its memories. ❤
Wish I'd been smart enough as a kid to start over. I trained on the Lunatic Pandora for WEEKS (1 exp per kill) to get to lvl99 and I couldn't figure out why I wasn't able to beat Ultimecia lol. To this day, once of the most devastating experiences I've ever had.
@@JoshayFerguson I can relate, I've just finish FFIX for the first time 3 months ago, I got the game when it was released in France back in 2000 but it had a scratch on the final disc so I couldn't finish it.
23 years later, I've finally finished the game haha :)
Same, 39 now .. last year completed ff7 again , got struck again on ff8 but cleared ff10 .
Ina busy rat race world these soundtracks settle my soul . I think I'll be listening for life to be honest , I need it.
FF8 is still to this day one of my favorite games
Just favorite. Have a good day 😊
Agreed, played it when I was 12, for the first time, I'm 33 now. Still the greatest game to me.
For me as well.
Squall has a special place in my heart. None of my cousins who I grew up with hyped him up as much as they did Cloud or Tidus. but I remember that games nature being romantically intimate. I loved it so much as a kid
Agreed!
These songs send me right back to a time when the people you loved most were not just blowing in the wind! RIP Grandma and Grandpa this was played under the beautiful roof you raised me in ill never forget that!❤ 35 now the music still hits the heart!
My most core gaming memory is playing a pretty inconsequential part of this game, on a day when I was sick and off school and my Gramps was babysitting me. It remains my favourite game ever despite it's many flaws; it just represents so much nostalgia
Wow my grandma passed around the time you wrote this comment. And I'm about just a few months behind in age haha.
I'm 36...and yes...this music also reminds me of living under my grandparents roof feelings sale and cozy.
This game defines my childhood. Literally spent years trying to beat it. Listening to these beautiful songs is like catching up with a dear old friend. Thank you
Likewise, but why so many years trying to beat it. Was it that challenging?
Damn... this hit me hard. Played this game when I'm in my middle school. Now almost 40, married with two kids, barely had any time for gaming. When the balamb music kicks in, it immidiately teleported me back to those days. I got tearry eyes now, because there are many great things at that time, mainly my mother still alive and well, keep nagging me to take a break or eat my dinner If I'm playing too long. Miss her so much, didnt even have proper good bye when she's gone.....
Love the art too by the way.
Hope youre doing well my friend
Same. Wish you the best.
totally get it bro. I miss my dad too. This game makes you relive your past.
Balamb Garden tune has buried itself into my heart.
Amen!~
FF8 is such an underated Final Fantasy. It always gets overlooked by 7 and 9. Don't get me wrong all these are masterpieces but 8 holds a special place for me as It was the first one I played and mastered.
FF VIII fue mi pirmer final fantasy de la saga, lo jugue en 2003 por primera vez!
There is a really good review of the trio by ProJared actually and they all get their due respects, I revisit them from time to time as I appreciate the three in my own ways.
for real
my first ff too. also my favorite among other ff. ost brings back lots of memories in game and of things way back then.
Never heard someone say 9 was good. 7 and 8 were one of the best in the series
FF8 was my first FF game to play and complete. I played FF7 after FF8. FF8 was then all those years ago and still is, my favorite game of all time. The story line was so good, I can't imagine if they made a remake how it would be with actual graphics. I know everyone loves FF7 the most and FF7 is an insanely good story too, but FF8 will always have my heart.
I was dream that one day I would grow up and become a member of seed on this world. 🥲😂
Final Fantasy 8 is my first Final Fantasy adventure, Balamb Garden is my first school, Squall is my first love.
Listening to this wonderful music, everything seems to go back in time.
Thank you
You loved squall? Hahaha😆
@@jinhyun2da I do haha 😆
@@NinasGametime cute😄😄
@@jinhyun2da haha thank you have a beautiful day 💕
@@NinasGametime yeah you too nina
FF8's Liberi Fatali is hands down the greatest video game soundtrack in history of gaming. FF8 has the greatest intro as well. Nothing beats it.
you know what? you right.
Hello,
As much as I'd like to agree with you (FFVIII my favourite game ever), you should give Soulblade a try for the best PS1 intro.
Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec = Succession of Witches damn that anagram blew my mind
except that moment when auron appears in the quasi intro CG cutscene of FF10. both games are the pinnacle of what FF embodies
Makes you realize, how short years are- 36 here. ❤
Truly gavee vibe of another world.
I think all ffviii gamers are similar gen as me :)
I just play first time at-36. Still not finish.
@@Locke9611 dude! I played this game when I was a 13 or something and finished it without any help guide, when I was at Ultimecia castle I was stuck, i didn't had enough level, then I discovered secret passages that leads to different part of world, only to discover the Boss revives in different form 20 time. I Felt legendary when I beat Ultimecia.
@@krishnachandradas8386 You are good. I'm also 36 and played this game around the same age I guess. I stopped playing around the middle of the game (before the third CD) for some reason. I still keep very good and vivid memories of it for some reasons though.
You see, the piece Ami (piano) is still the ringtone of my cellphone and it has been over 20years... It's already part of my life.
Wow.. ff8 is still in my heart..
FFVIII is the misunderstood GOAT of the series. The magic and levelling systems are perfect, every fight is an opportunity to harvest magic and become stronger. Aside from a few repetitive dungeon maps and odd story pacing, it's a masterpiece.
What you said : )
i learned the word Conjunction because of ff8 lol
Only bad part about the game is how awful card rules would spread like a virus if you didn't know exactly what you were doing!
This game was foundational to my adolescent years. Squall was my hero, and I lived through this game.
Over 20 years later still get goosebumps when I hear any song from ff8, still remember every single song and name of them too
its crazy how memory works or deosnt work, I played like 300hours but i almost remember nothing of the songs
@@igualnimp I played FF8 six times, I can remember my play throughs, the music and some of the character interactions, even more, I play a game called wolfenstein ET, very fast paced and I can remember the details down to cm of games I played two weeks ago, yet I can't hold a proper conversation because I will forget what you said at the start of a sentence before you finish it and I can't answer you because I don't actually remember what you said. The same goes for general life things, I can't remember that I went to a different city 2 months ago yet I remember where I last saw a cat in minecraft after not going to the surface in a week.
It's a mess and I should probably have my priorities checked. Or maybe I should just stop using g-forces.
Feel like being 12 years old again every time I listen to these music...
I can't believe its more than 20 years already since I first played the game. So many memories kept pouring in as the music played. Instead of relaxing music, it more like sadness brought in from nostalgia.
can totally relate. I still play some of them at the piano. Just changed my life I think
It hits hard
@@Encoof I hit your mother hard.
@@Fusion991 n1
@@Encoof thanks 😊
I've probably put 500 hours into this game and beat it plenty of times. My only regret was not 100% it. I completed everything except getting eden to level 100. I got him to 96 and started playing some other games and lost that memory card save. The music, the experience known as Final Fantasy will awlays remain in my heart!
I'm glad to see many others whom feel the same, thanks for the upload! 😁
My first FF. This game shape my life, encourage me to learn English and become Software Engineer (to develop beautiful game like this). Its melody bring back happiest years of my life under happy family roof.
That picture during Julia touches my soul.
I ended this game five times on my childhood. I'm brasilian and needed a dictionary to translate the options. Only on the last year, with 36, that's when I really understood the history. And it's still fantastic, as they were in my fake memories. ❤
This game blew my mind when I played it in high school and to this day I absolutely love it. Now I am an adult, it's actually crazy when I look back and realize that a great part of my taste in characters and stories was 100% shaped by this game. If SE ever announces a remake, I will combust on spot from excitement. Every picture and piece of music from it makes me so happy!
The art is beautiful - I love Julia looking at Laguna's silhouette in the audience.
My First FF and my favorite, for all time... The way each character just go so smooth with the story, the way Squall gets more and more open with Rinoa and his fellows friends, and how the music punch you every single time....
I could go on about how sweet Squall's character development is
Man... this took me back to my childhood and so many memories...Life is so short.
Fragments of Memories is legit one of my favorite music pieces not just in music idk why it's so bright but also has hints of melancholy in it like you're trying to remember a better time in life.
My absolute favorite entry in the series.
This game will always have a special place in my heart. The music, the characters, the story : everything was perfect.
The Eyes On Me piano version in this video is beautiful 03:22
I'm listening to this while working, and I'm amazed at how beautiful the music on this game is.
I remember FFVII's music being incredible, but I feel much of Nobuo Uematsu's best work is actually found here.
These compilations are incredible, thank you.
Truly underrated in my opinion. This is the best for me in the FF line.
FF8 is his best work definitively. second place can be argued.
Love the artstyle
For those wondering about the ending, the intro of the game represent Squalls memories returning to him when he is lost in the time loop, so everything resolves and the storyline does have a happy ending, such an amazing game!
I played this game because my dead father bought it for me on a whim when he bought the PS2 for me on one day i 2002. I was not expecting such a powerful story.
From the very beginning I knew the quest I embarked on was one of incredible magic and wonder and discovery. As such, the soundtrack only sounded just as majestic.
Most of my beliefs and emotions were shaped by the ideals of this game. Strength through solitude. Forgetting important memories. Growing up with friends who are no longer there.
It is one of those few stories which actually demonstrate what living truly means because it does not have the spectacles and glamour of a game.... but rather of real life.
I hope it gets remade in time before I die.
Man, I can only hope for FFVIII remake on PS6. :)
Clive dies on a beach at the end of ff16. "Where one journey ends...."
FF8 soundtrack is by far my fav non vocal FF OST, very relaxing and it has a soul in it while playing. even in battle.
The first song literally brings a tear to my eye and a longing in my stomach.
My first Final Fantasy i have played and it always takes a special place in my heart. Such an amazing game ❤
I wasn't able to finish FF8, got stucked at disc 2. I was hooked on playing the card game lol
amazing artwork. Love ff8.
I love this game!
Same. It was my first Final Fantasy and I bought it on a whim why at a second hand store.
@@jamesbourgeois1357 It was my first love, too! 😄
Oh man. This brings back so many memories. I'll never forget playing this in the winter of 99. Good times. Still my all time favorite Final Fantasy game to this very day.
The nostalgia is heavy with this one😢😊❤
Squall face made my day haha
These tunes are so nostalgic. Absolutely beautiful.
Final Fantasy 8 is by far my favorite and I never even beat the game. My 3rd disc was too scratched up lol.. This music is so nostalgic holy moly.
Better that you never finished, makes it more precious somehow
Im gonna have to agree! Maybe ill finish it someday lol@@vonmusel6158
lol same, my 3rd disk was scratched and I couldn't sail past a certain point. never finished it. but the memories and feelings, still so vivid...
RUclipsのオススメリストが久しぶりに良い仕事してくれた!
全てのFFシリーズの中で最も好きな作品、子供の頃に必死にお小遣いを貯めてサウンドトラック買った日を鮮明に覚えてる
FF8, what a story... Eyes on Me takes me back. The Squall Rinoa love story was next level - the space scene and Squall marching in on Esthar Soldiers to rescue Rinoa was so memorable.
Also, the game lowkey hinting Laguna was Squall's father, but never really telling you was awesome storytelling as well.
If I remember correctly, towards the end of the game, there is an optional conversation where if you trigger it, it gets obvious that Laguna is Squall’s father….
Somehow I got to play it just 4 years ago, what a game and what a story! One of my top favorites.
I think being grown up, helped me to really appreciate the beautiful story.
It's actually confirmed by the creators on some larger collection of FF lore. If you ever were second guessing the info available in the game.
Yeah, I think people sort of overlook the generational story of Squall, Laguna's son, falling for Julia's daughter. Squall and Rinoa wrapping up the unfinished romance between Laguna and Julia while also ending the war that tore them apart in the first place is one of the more underrated subplots in the entire Final Fantasy series, honestly. Its a shame Square takes so long to make games, because a remake of 8, I think, would have real potential to blow everything else out of the water if they focused more heavily on the writing side of things.
Man, I hated Rinoa like you wouldn't believe. Total creep wouldn't leave Squall alone. Let the man SEED in peace.
i really like the art in this video!
I think it captures the *vibe* of just hanging out in ff8.
(also i was pissed they got rid of Squall's puffy pants in the remaster, tsk tsk)
I will always remember FFVIII, and my experience with the final boss. Battled her, slowly losing party members until eventually, it was just Squall left. Somehow, I managed to endure, he continued to stand his ground. Got to the points where she started giving her dying words. I now know that if I had just attacked her one last time, I would have beaten the game for the first time at that exact moment, but no, she used Hell's Judgement (or whatever it was called, the attack that reduced the entire party to 1HP) and in a panic, I cast curaga, not realising that I was under the effect of Reflect. I healed her, and all she had to do was give me a love tap and I failed and game over'd when I was right at the gosh-darned finish line of the game.
Yes, my most vivid memory of any Final Fantasy game was the story of how I failed at the zenith. And yet, those are the kinds of memories that I feel are better. The memories you can learn from; it was a weird detail that somehow I'd never clocked on before that moment how the humble Reflect spell could be used not as a defence but as an offence of the most insulting kind. The fact that Ultimecia beat me after I wasted my opportunity to heal myself and ended up healing her was just icing on the cake. It was a learning experience for my younger self, and it was something me and my best friend, who had been watching the entire fight were able to reminisce about long after the fact. It's a memory that wasn't forged by the narrative but by our experiences in such a way that couldn't be planned out.
I will always remember how I was deprived of the almost cinematic climax, Squall as the last man standing, enduring where his five friends fell, only to stumble at the last moment because of the humble Reflect spell being cast upon him by Ultimecia. She knew what she was doing, she mocked me as she gave Squall that love-tap that finally felled him.
Where did Nobuo Uematsu get the magic from to produce such amazing music? He produces amazing music in everything his name is affiliated with. Chrono Trigger, FF7, FF6, Hanjuku Hero to name a few.
These games were destined to be successful in their own right, but his music elevated them to iconic status
I put this soundtrack while working, trying to relax and focus. I had to stop working, I was overwhelmed by memories and could't think about anything else but good memories from my childhood. Thanks mate
FF8 is the best FF soundtrack ever.
My first JRPG ever
To this day I have incredibly found nostalgia from the first Disc of this game. I've probably played this game all the way through a dozen times, but every time I boot up a fresh new save and experience the opening 10-20 hours it just hits home in such a great way. This game will forever have a place in my heart as time I'll cherish having done something I loved and the first disc of this game is probably my favorite opening mutli-hour segment to any game I've played. Cheers everyone!
I was around 15 when this game came out. So it's a big part of my youth. I loved how I grew up in this time period. Final Fantasy 7/8/9. Super Mario 64, Zelda Oot, Metal Gear Solid, Goldeneye, Tony Hawk, etc. I really feel for these kids today who are growing up with iterations of what I grew up with. They'll never be as mind blown as I was when I first saw Mario 64 in a Toys R Us kiosk. Or seeing the FMV sequences in Final Fantasy blend in with the real time graphics. I hope they still have fond memories to look back on.
Final Fantasy 9 next? 👀 I listen to this everyday to relax while I work :)
Final Fantasy VIII was the first game I ever pre-ordered (at Electronics Boutique). It was the first Final Fantasy game that I ever completed. Great memories exploring the world and fighting epic battles. The music is so beautiful.
This game is really unlike anything I’ve played. Not to say it’s the greatest but there’s such a surreal, melancholy vibe and the music is a big part of that. It feels/sounds like putting on a happy or brave face while something deeply troubling is going on beneath the surface.
How nostalgically beautiful, the accompanied artwork adds to the melodies.
Thank you so much for sharing, it all takes me back to such sweet carefree times.
Final Fantasy of my life.
I love this histoy
i'm so grateful hear this. thank you
One of the best Final Fantasy playlist i listen in a while, thank you so much. I will eagerly wait for FF IX and X playlists. Have a nice day LennY, :).
Thanks, Semper. Have a nice day too!
Beautiful!
Can't wait for FF9 music too!
balamb garden has got to be one of the most chill songs of all the ff games.
This is some of the coolest final fantasy content on RUclips. I love seeing highlights of the game while peaceful music plays.
I went to see Distant Worlds and they told the story about how they didn’t save anything from game development in those days. They had to recreate all of the sheet music for Balamb Garden. Hearing a live orchestra play it was amazing. Still my favorite FF soundtrack.
Is that so, that's kinda crazy. Would have thought Nobuo Uematsu would've kept it.
Balamb garden, my home away from home!
FF8 is still my favourite game even to this day. Always be my no.1
I got a huge tub of skittles the year my brother got this for our playstation for Christmas. He sat and played it all day. I still hear this and taste skittles.
Nice, never heard Balamb Garden played on a harp before. That's awesome!
omg that art is awesome
Childhood/nostalgia incoming: recommend /cry /feels and /happiness.
Maravilhoso! Nostalgia! Final fantasy 8 é um épico e deveria ter mais notoriedade. Obrigado por compartilhar algo tão belo.
OMG u really made it!!! Thanks so much for granting me this wish! I hope your videos can reach more people!! Ff8 was the first game I played, and it has always been a special place in my heart! Thanks Lenny!
You are very welcome! Thanks for your kind words Ken!
FF8 is a gem. I understand the criticisms, but I'll never understand the hate.
I played FF8 in 1999, when it was released. I was 12 years old, and received it for Christmas that year. I will always cherish the memories I have of playing this title, and particularly of endless games of Triple Triad, still the best card game in a videogame I've played!
Such a great playlist for such an underrated FF game!! Love the artwork too!
I remember playing through ~70% of the game before I gave up because it was too difficult.
Ten years later I learned that you can boost your Guardians during their cutscenes. Still impressed I got so far.😅
ff7 was always the best for me but ff8 is on another level, unique and memorable
I remember studying all night to the music of FF8, the day after I had the most massive headache I ever had, but boy, the music still sound amazing.
很久沒有深夜聽曲,聽到my mind哭了~一晃,已是四分之一世紀的事情了!謝謝!
This was my first FF8. Completely changed my view of video games. Never had i played a game with such refined, story, gameplay and music... I was obsessed with it.
Must've spend hundreds of hours on it, playing in secret till 3 am, trying to make less noise possible when turboing the G-Forces lmao,...
I was 18 when i played this on the PC (1998). it got ported in this weird 4 disc format. I remember getting off the wrong train stop, and i thought i had to walk all the way to Dollet lol I was so lost that the world background music stuck with me. I also got lost looking for that white SeeD ship, and I remember not eating the entire day. I remember liking the graphics of the game, but when it got the space station, the love story between Rinoah and Squall just hooked my adolescent brain so much, that i became a loyal fan of Final Fantasy VIII specifically - to me, they have become the original characters (despite the fact that FFVIII borrowed a crap-ton of stuff from FFVII in terms of character and design).
I love this compilation of quiet and updated versions of the music in FFVIII ... they remind me of simpler times. And they also make me appreciate the fairy tale and happy ending of the characters. Stories like that bring me feelings of optimism in this world where it's really easy to be cynical.
I played this game back in 2013 when i was finishing my college. Even i played this series when i was 22, everytime i heard the musics, i can fly back to the late 90's vibe.
The storyline is still one of the best i have ever played besides other series.
This was my first RPG I ever played. I always wanted a more mellow soundtrack to these old songs thank you very much its really peaceful and helps me unwind at the end of my shifts.
A wonderful playlist accompanied by some great artwork! Awesome stuff LennY!
love this game and the music and locations. I had so many fun memories of forcing the car to drive around map on no gas to avoid encounters. I also would read the story aloud and gave Squall the most sarcastic attitude coupled with the attitude he thinks everyone is meh. Overtime he opens up and everyone is there with him. I really like the art used in this! Very niceee
Thank you for the playlist and artwork, these bring back many good old memories... Sigh, time flies...
this has been my study soundtrack for the past few months already. thank you so much for this gem
The fan art adds depth to the characters. I feel like I got a better sense of them after watching.
Always warms me up with some sadness, wonderful game.
I have not played FF8 yet, but my favorite soundtrack must be "My Mind." It is a beautiful piece.
Debes jugarlo, yo lo jugué a los 9 años por allá cuando salió en 1999, para mi fue un antes y un después.
I've played this game through probably 20 plus times and it allways just melts me with how much there is to do and the story and how it's music really impacts every sequence like battles or powerful scenes
The only one I like in this list is "Balamb Garden"; my favorites are "The Extreme", "Force Your Way", "Find Your Way", "Succession of Witches", "Balamb Garden", "Blue Fields", "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec", "Liberi Fatali"..
Best FF = 9 and 8
I have an unwavering bias for this game. The first video game I ever played was FF7 thanks to my uncle who is still an avid gamer. I couldn't get past the first boss so I gave up and never touched a video game until my first year of middle school. That game was Final Fantasy 8 which was also introduced to me by my uncle. I played and completed the game way too many times to be considered healthy. The original soundtrack is practically branded into my brain and soul. I still have the original playstation disk case with all four disks sitting on my bookshelf.
Wasnt expecting this art but i like it and now i want a whole remaster in this style. I bet the card game would be cool in this style
How can one game bring back so much memories and emotions 😢 the most beautiful music ever
Very nice and nostalgic playlist, thank you for this
It is a game that got released when video games were great!
lovely memories of my childhood playing when my parents were alive. Used to see me battle and summon the guardian force and the ending was a true masterpiece to behold. good times then.
My favs are Fisherman Horizon theme and Balamb City Theme.
I played this game on PS1 when I was 11 (I'm 35 now), it really brings nostalgic feelings.
The music is pure nostalgia. The artwork is crazy good too. Love the style. If you did this LennY, then major props to you!
