What he said doesn't make sense. Any kind of formal business is good economic indicator. In developed countries very few people cook at home, this means they have more time to spend on more productive things than cooking.
People are not buying one wing as he says.

@@lovemoretafirenyika6038 Only poor people in America eat fast food everyday. In poor neighborhoods; you will find more fast food outlets and liquor stores. So indeed a proliferation of fast foods is a sign of increasing poverty of the masses.

I haven’t seen anyone in the opposition or the ruling party articulating Zimbabwe's finance issues as passionately as Tendai Biti does. It’s unfortunate that some emotional fellow citizens choose to buy into the theory that TB wanted to be CCC president and neglect his value as a national treasure. Indeed, we get the leaders we deserve! I wish we could focus our energy on creating a government of national unity. Yes, it’s unpopular and controversial, BUT it’s very realistic, and it's the only feasible option that can make an average Zimbabwean better off. This idea is unpopular, particularly for most people who are currently better off for one reason or another. However, for an average Zimbabwean who isn’t in the diaspora or linked to it, or someone who has no one to look up to but our economy and its policies, GNU is the only way to help our people in abject poverty. To think the opposition will be in power in this lifetime is like watching Alice in Wonderland. So why fuel the fight between TB, NC, and Welshman? It’s these petty issues and misplaced emotions that exacerbate our political crises! The realist in me would want to see the likes of TB, and other competent Zimbabweans being in a GNU. I can’t see any other way we can be out of this mess

Like him or hate him, Biti is a rare talent in Zim politics. He messed up for sure and must carry his cross for betraying the masses but he would make a good finance minister

    T. B is a good economist and no one can surpass him, given chance and working independently without Zanupf posing their nose our economy will revive. As a politician he let us down not once but twice twice. We have too many lawyers within our political landscape who think they are only who knows everything.

As Zimbabweans we are more engrossed into someone’s political standing rather than meritocracy. People are slandering Biti because of his association with the opposition and for squabbles in CCC hence they dismiss him as just mere talker. He has the knowledge and experience of working in the MOF, and most of the things he said in this interview are very true of our economy and what needs to be done. Mthuli Ncube may have an impressive CV but he’s limited, he lacks grasp of Zimbabwean economics and the suffering will only continue
