    FYI for all my bloggers who use Wordpress - I personally use & highly recommend using StudioPress to make life so much easier. It's an add-on to Wordpress that handles site security, advanced SEO, and optimized performance, basically streamlines all the back-end tech stuff so you don't have to deal with it! This has got to be the best video out here for newbies. I want to get started but have NO CLUE where to start, what to buy, etc. and you have given me sooo much information and hope that i'm gonna get going with my iphone. I've watched so many videos that say they are podcasts for beginners but neglect the fact that beginner usually means low budget, no tech background and such. Bless you sweetheart and know that people like me absolutely appreciate you! Happy New Year!

    Thank you for a super helpful episode. I had some trouble getting the podcast added to Blubrry's listing directory and had to do the following in Wordpress... 1) go to PowerPress and from the "Settings" tab, 2) check the "Category Podcasting" option in "Advanced Options", 3) then go back to the Wordpress dashboard and choose "Posts" and go to the "Category" tab and set up a "Feed' category and a "Podcast" category with "Feed" as the parent category, 4) go back to PowerPress and choose the "Category Podcasting" tab and select the "Podcast" category you just created (Note the "Select Category" box on the left hand side of the page), then 5) click the "Add Podcast Settings to Category Feed" button, 6) copy the "Feed URL" for later... 7a) upload an episode of your podcast to the Wordpress Media Library and 7b) create a new post with the category "Podcast" set by using the Media Library URL for the podcast file, once you've uploaded it to the Media Library, inserted into the PowerPress podcast box on the post page and, 7c) publish it. Then 8) go to your Blubrry account (you DO have to set up a free account) and add the podcast to Blubrry using the "Feed URL" you copied from Step 6 along w/ any other settings needed, then submit. No doubt there's many ways to set up a "Feed URL", I just couldn't find it w/o going through the "Category Podcasting" steps.

    What a great, simple and useful video. An easy and encouraging lesson on starting from the very beginning. Easy to understand, practical unfussy advice, like recording in the closet etc. Well explained by a lovely presenter who looks and sounds great. Listened to another presenter video before arriving here and was driven crazy with a brain drilling voice! But Lavendaire is easy on the ear and eye with very worthwhile advice. I'm greatly encouraged and will press forwards with my own project. Thank you Lavendaire and I wish you every success with your own projects and singing career! x

    Just to be clear from the 12:00 min mark (step 2) and beyond, that only needs to be done for the very first podcast a person would post ever. Then from that point onward all I would need to do is everything at the 10:40 mark (step 1) for every reoccurring podcast. Or do I need to do step 2 every time I post a podcast following step 1.
    BTW this was the best video I watched on how to start a podcast I am really enjoying your q and series for content creators. You make everything seem so simple and in a format that is also easy to understand. Thank You!

    • @lavendaire
      @lavendaire  8 лет назад

      Yes, from 12:00 min mark and beyond -- that's just how to submit to iTunes & Google Play in the first place. Once your podcast has been approved, then you just need to upload your podcasts through a blog post (10:40). You got it :)

I will subscribe and follow you to hear other bits of wisdom you have to impart. Audiotechnica ATAT2020 Condenser requires an Audio Interface like the Scarlet Pro since the mic runs on Phantom Power. Most musicians use ATAT2020 for vocals. I work with AVID Pro Tools 12.4 (399.99 sale price with iLok) for my recording and editing although Adobe Audition and Apple's GarageBand work fine as well.

      Hi Nicole, you may still have some confusion regarding wordpress. I too had when I was amateur. I'm here to help you out.
      There are two kind of Wordpress: A. WordPress.com and B. WordPress.org
      'wordpress.com' is a site that offers 'free hosting' to your blog. Also, the sub-domain 'xxx.wordpress.com' get attached to it. Whereas, 'wordpress.org' is a software that comes in the package while you register your domain name and also purchase your webhost service from : hostgator, namecheap, bluehost, godaddy etc.
      The free blog doesn't need registration. Whereas, the self-published blog (or the purchased version blog) need regular registration.
      The relationship of domain name and web-hosting service is as same as mobile handset and SIM card. 🙂
      I hope I helped you out. Have a nice day. Instagram @akspursue

    This was a great video. I wanted to know when doing podcast does the mic pick up the fan that the laptop runs when it's cooling? I had a problem with that but I was just using my headphones mic.

    Great Content! And very helpful. This was a huge contribution to putting together the podcast. I have a question once I uploaded a 2nd episode, does it take a couple of days to upload to iTunes as well? If not I am doing something wrong. Thanks in advance!
