  • “Every Ethical Line I Drew Was Walked On…We Are Hurting People” Jamie Reed
    In this episode, hear a personal first-hand whistleblower account of the harmful practices taking place inside an American gender clinic. Jamie Reed, a former Case Manager at the Washington University School of Medicine Pediatric Transgender Center at St Louis Children’s Hospital reflects on her experiences inside the clinic that ultimately lead to her profound decision to file for whistleblower protection from the Missouri Attorney General’s office in order to publicly express her concerns with the judgment and care provided for the patients at the gender clinic.
    Jamie, who herself identifies in the LGBTQIA community and is also a proud mother of 5 children, has a Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Anthropology and a Master’s of Science in Clinical Research Management. In her conversation with Sasha & Stella, along with her attorney, Vernadette Broyles, not only does Jamie describe the experiences that lead to her ultimate formal filing of her concerns, but both Jamie and Vernadette speak to the protections available to other clinicians and workers in this field that feel too intimidated to speak out about their observations and concerns.
    Vernadette Ramirez Broyles is the President and General Counsel of Child Parental Rights Campaign, Inc., a not-for-profit public interest law firm that engages in litigation and advocacy across the country to protect children’s health and defend parental rights from the impacts of gender identity ideology. Ms. Broyles received her law degree from Harvard Law School and received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Yale University.

    I work at the university that Jamie worked. I rallied at Wash U on "Detransition Awareness day" but had to do so in a mask and cover-up so I wouldn't be fired. We got a lot of blow-back from VERY angry trans folk who tried to bully us into leaving. it was weird. There were several trans people who demonstrated WITH us because they too realized that kids are being needlessly and permanently hurt.

    • @echo795
      @echo795 Год назад +11

      My understanding is that when doctors/clinics follow the “guidelines” it is extremely difficult to get any sort of litigation off the ground.
      I know there are a few big detransitioners who are trying to get lawsuits going but there are tons of hurdles before even getting to a court room.

    • @9395gb
      @9395gb Год назад

      @@echo795Well it now makes sense why there are attempts to silence detransistitioners and people who are actually clincally diagnosed with gender dysphoria? The lawsuits may be coming. The issues of 1) consent and 2) the rapid fire diagnosis of gender dysphoria are concerning.
      The consent issue of whether children could legally consent to (even with parental consent) receiving HRT and medical surgeries they do not understand or understand the longterm effects of. Also for children and even the young adults who allege they felt pressured to transition, the issue of whether they could legally consent with the other mental health issues (ie autism, depression, bipolar) they were suffering through will come to the forefront.
      The rapid fire diagnosis of gender diagnosis is problematic. Why were they done so quickly? What questions were asked by the mental health and medical professionals? How can individuals who allegedly had other mental health problems diagnose themselves with gender dsyphoria and then be put on HRT and/or have plastic surgery so quickly?? Were all those mental health issues ruled out before they put them on HRT and performed the plastic surgery??
      The damages can be established by showing the resulting effects to the detrans lives and future quality of life...sterilization, inability to have sex and orgasms, hysterectomy, more surgeries in the future to fix problems, and more mental health issues. These LGBT activists, LGBT organizations and academics promoting the gender ideology theories are alleged to have received donations from all these medical centers. This a conflict of interest and these activists and centers could face lawsuits also.
      These detransistitioners are a medical malpratice and personal injury attorneys' dream case. However, it is sad because it is not about the money. These people needed therapy and help; and the ability to have normal childhoods and the chance to have normal adult lives. Transitioning for adults is one thing also and that will likely need to be revisited as well because of this.

      100%. Trans activists are ENCOURAGING the MOST vulnerable children to lethally self-harn; They do this, by encouraging "transition" (which raises risk sulcide to its maximum, in this demographic).
      But also by constantly pushing the narrative that "trans kids WILL self-harm, if you don't submit to our demands!!!!" Basically putting the idea in the heads of the most vulnerable, confused kids, telling them "we EXPECT you to do this", and spelling out "this is how you can get leverage, to demand that your parents/doctors etc submit to WHATEVER demands you make, HOWEVER reasonable/unreasonable those demands may be..."

      We need to ALWAYS use sex-correct pronouns, and talk about "men who self-ID as trans", rather than ,"""trans-women""".
      And """top surgery"""",, """the Wrong Puberty""", """gender affirming care"""; Much better to speak in simple, plain English, than adopt these creepy NewSpeak euphemisms, designed to make needless, stereotype-enforcing mutilation seem all flowery and pleasant.

WPATH was always an extremist and fringe group with documented perverse motivations , and it only acquired a cloak of respectability ( and a broader subscription ) very recently ( post the name change ) , and they are still controlled by extremist interests ( both the interests that founded the group , and those of the bloc that funded the transformation/ expansion).

    This was terrifying and incredibly revealing. It takes a lot of courage to speak up in this way. I suspect that this isn't an isolated incident as standard of care is probably an evolving disciplinary standard that's shared across clinical and medical networks - but even if this is just this individual clinic exemplifying the potential dangers of this care - Jamie's account needs to be seriously considered when examining the entire legitimacy of these interventions and the standards in place. Ideological bias, industry capture, financial motivations and just plain old human mediocrity or negligence can have catastrophic effects on vulnerable individuals. The fact that these experimental surgeries and hormone manipulation can be okayed so casually is an indictment of the standards and regulations in place. I can't believe that adults can be so cavalier about radically altering a child's entire physiology. Further proof that the medical and research fields are just as subject to corruption as most other institutions and should never be implicitly trusted. In fact, these fields may be more subject to corruption because of their belief in their own infallibility.

      The minimal consent format surprised me (sort of), and the first comparison I thought of was the consent to psychotherapy forms I have signed, sometimes several pages long! Was she saying the therapy consent forms were more complex than the medical consent forms? Outrageous. Also the fact that youngsters who knew little about their biology, or were females presenting as females (for example) is outrageous to me. It seems clear that at that clinic, at least, there were agendas that were about making money AND AFFIRMING the beliefs of the people in charge, not the welfare of the patients.

    'God complex'! 'Patients'. 'Masculine presentation'. 'Look the part'. 'Top surgery'. 'Blockers'. 'T'. 'Informed consent'. 'Hormones'. 'Monopoly on Power'! All words that need deconstruction! My head is spinning with comments, thoughts, physical reactions to this in-depth talk too. And walking back constantly, through my own life, as a non conforming lesbian who had to find my own way in life all through the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s with no guidance whatsoever. I did so much self study and there was the gay & lesbian rights and women's & lesbian/feminist liberation movement which I was very active in. And in my twenties I volunteered in an alternative welfare movement for a number of years, helping youth who were falling through the cracks, or were passed on to us because established and 'professional' mental health providers didn't know what to do with them. There was a hard drugs crisis in Western Europe, there was alcohol abuse, homelessness, self harm, pregnant teen girls, the fall out of 'flower power' ideals. Then self help groups, transactional analysis (I'm OK, You're OK). There was a lot of self empowerment in grass roots levels. Radical feminist therapy groups etc etc etc. Face to face, not like now with everyone sitting in their lone bubble doing their own 'research' on the internet. This whole 🤑 medical complex needs turning inside out! Yes Bernadette, there is a monopoly on power in medical settings! I've always been a critic of psychiatry and their drugs. They harmed millions, if not billions of women and men in the past with valium prescriptions and mass electro convulsion treatments. John Money prescribed them to thousands of women and misdiagnosed many of them as schizophrenia as well. (Janet Frame in NZ) And here we go again on a mass scale, with teenagers, pre-teens even! I've also been a childcare worker outside the school system where I could encourage kids (5-12 yr old) to run their own centres. I guided them but they were very capable of indicating what they needed from those places that were there for them. They learned from each other! They had great conflict resolution skills and so much creativity. Bring back the scouting movement, kids camps, a youth centre in every suburb! Use technology for creativity and not social media distraction. Thank you so much for this podcast and all the others. Your work Stella and Sasha IS like huge ripples in the water! Swirling out and out across the world. And Jamie, I hear you Sister, you've done some deep self reflection as a lesbian too, this is bringing truth and malpractice to the surface. There is so much unethical disembodiment out there in EPATH, WPATH and AUSPATH circles. The profit making in 'medicine'. Taking back personal power, going back to self help and natural medicine, even bio-identical hormones as a healthier option than synthetic, anything is better than the Gods that are harming children with hormones and surgeries. This has to stop NOW! Amen 🙏💪⚕♀♂🔥🌱✊💥💜💋

    This may not be a perfect analogy, but an endocrinologist as a part of the "transgengering" process is like an electrician hired out as a specialist in building a house. However, an electrician is working in a concrete physical space, like the carpenters or drywallers etc. Having an endocrinologist work on a person's "identity" is like fixing a tv set because you don't like the tv program (I credit Thomas Szasz for this quote).

    I think I recall seeing in medical literature some discussion that the “first do no harm” line needed to be reinterpreted into something like “do whatever the patient wants.” Not in those words, of course, but the idea seemed to be to coerce healthcare professionals into abandoning any conscientious objections and treating under threat of alternative harm accusations. That may explain a part of the lack of ethics among today’s healthcare professionals.

      Right there is fodder for gigantic expensive malpractice lawsuit. No informed consent. I don’t think there is any way a Dr could wriggle out of that. If such a case were to make it to trial, a jury would find for the client and come back with a judgment of many millions.
      Also - I have been trying to find the answer to this part. So many de-transitioners (twitter) say they didn’t understand the ramifications of the treatment they were “agreeing” to. What is the responsibility of the practitioners to ensure the patient understand? A signature under duress? Vs actually understanding the information?

    This clinic speaks volumes of the rampant medical malpractice that is endemic across the entire US medical system. Profit takes precedence over care. Scapegoating the transgender community and reducing their condition to an ideology does not resolve this problem. Anyone who is led to believe that gender affirming care will solve all their problems is being deeply misled. It is important to also understand there is no one stop shop for gender care. When I transitioned I went to a clinical psychologist, psychiatrist, GP and workshops and support groups months before I saw an endochrnologist. I also spent years trying not to be trans and queer and spent years in therapy as I thought it was wrong. I had a lot of internalised transphobia and homo/biphobia. The job of the endo was to assess my program of hormones. Nothing more or less,

      @@biancawilloughby9980Oh yes! -- that's the same careful, conscientious, responsible process my trans friends went through -- genuinely Informed Consent. Three of my friends are trans, two trans women and one trans man, and they all transitioned as adults after a lot of counseling and therapy, so they KNEW this was the best option for them.
      Two I didn't meet until after they'd transitioned; but one I've known for over 10 years, and even before she ever changed anything physically, I think she already seemed female on a spiritual level to me as a cis woman. . . I know when we first met, even though she looked like a guy, she was more like my female friends than my male friends.
      There's such a huge difference between people who really are transgender, for whom transition is the best option, and people who aren't transgender but who are being rushed into a process that's going to hurt them.
      There needs to be MUCH more care in the medical and psychological system, to differentiate between transgender people and people who aren't transgender but who have different medical/psychological needs. . .

    The conversation from 37mins re masculine vs feminine presentation of intended F2M is important and often neglected . There is a large subset of "ROGD " girls / young women who are uber girly ( to the extent that they can make actually gender nonconforming included females uncomfortable) , and I think that's because that uber girly and uber group oriented girls are representative of the demographic and personality demographic most vulnerable to social contagion.
    These social contagion girly-girl transitioners are very different to the young lesbians and young physically more masculine young women who are also victim's sex by a social madness but in a more complex way where it impacts the available apparent " solutions " to genuine discomfort ( albeit misinterpreted ) around social responses to gender roles.

Hospitals and commercial practices can still do the work and will have to insure the doctors etc working there. Actuaries will start to insist on tighter guidelines for what’s insurable.

I personally see this sad situation as a direct result of social media-driven black and white thinking, not just in our children but in many clinicians who have now grown up with social media. This business of making important life choices based on Facebook slogans or tik tok bull**** is a road to ruin for families. Where is the patience, the integrity (calling double mastectomies formerly considered the tragic last resort of breast cancer patients a cute name 🤦‍♀️) the genuine compassion for young people struggling through puberty as we all did? Good Lord we’ve lost all perspective and common sense. Such a permanent solution to what may quite possibly be a temporary situation.

    Every state sets a mimimum age of consent to medical treatment, at least for emergency medical care, and that age is usually at least 15, sometimes 18. If an ambulance is called to assist a minor without parents present to consent to treatment, and its not an immediate risk of death situation, the minor must be at least that minimum legal age to consent to medical procedures. Even for something as benign as a scraped knee, if the minor does not want to be transported to the hospital by ambulance, there is a lengthy legal form called a "Refusal Form" that the paramedic is required by law to explain to the minor. The Refusal Form must be explained in a way that the patient understands, and the paramedic must explain all possible risks of refusal, "Up to, and possibly including death." I am perplexed as to how these children are even legally able to consent to any of this, and how the doctors are performing major surgery without a written informed consent form from anyone.
    Also, what is described in this video would be like if a paramedic automatically handed out Morphine, Fentanyl, Ativan without a true clinical patient assessment, without any therapeutic need established, and merely because the patient demanded it of the paramedic. That would be medical malpractice worthy of the loss of licensure, and possible legal consequences. Again, I am just perplexed at how any of this is legal, ethical, or in any way compliant with the medical professionals' bedrock ethos of "Do no harm."
