Love the desk. I originally wanted to know how to do some turned legs in cardboard stock. There is not much online that I could find. So when I saw the desk I thought yay. Unfortunately you did them with your 3D printer 😢 but you have put in a link for the chair (which I have not yet checked out) 😅 and see how he has done them. Your finished work, as always, is exceptional. Thank you for the free pattern. I now have a scan and cut machine so this should help with the tiny detailed carved work, when I actually unpack it from the box 😂. Thanks again Ara. Cheers Robyn ❤😊
I absolutely LOVE the Captain's desk,it's so ornate and beautiful. And I really love the little feet you added to it, it kind of looks as if the desk might start walking around by itself! When I was a kid my favourite nursery rhyme was about a table and a chair that decided to go for a walk together, and there was one line that went:
"So the table and the chair walked about the town with a cheerful bumpy sound, as they toddled round and round." I still love that rhyme 😅 and I'm 55 years old now. It was a nonsense rhyme by a man named Edward Lear. He wrote some brilliant nonsense rhymes. Love from Amanda Jones in Melbourne, Australia ❤
Brilliant designs, Ara and Seán! The chair is robust, delightful and perfect for the Captain...and the desk is exquisite! Thank you for so generously sharing the files with us, Ara...that's so cool. I love this build, and it's only going to become more and more enticing as we witness the progression...Yay! 💗⚒💗
Thank you Heather!! I can't wait to see what you do with the file too!! ;)
I checked out Sean’s channel and the way the chair was made, then came your masterpiece.
What can I say the two items are amazing together, I’m looking forward to the next item to go into the Captains cabin.👍👍👍👏👏
Thank you Paula! I agree with you! It was cool to see the creation of 2 different miniaturist come together :)
OMG - I'm so in love with this desk (and the chair). This has to be one of my favourite makes. You've done the homework and it's certainly paid off with a timeless classic. I don't think it can get much better than this exquisite piece :-)
Wow thank you so much!! It ended up being one of my favorites so far too! I am so happy so many others love it too!
Magnificent! A beautiful marriage, both in inception and in execution. I envy the talents of both you and Sean, and look forward to the next chapter of the Captain's Cabin. I'm learning so much, I just wish my convalescence was a tad swifter, as I itch to get back to my Grand Obsession and put some of the great techniques into practice.
Thank you so much George! I hope you start feeling much better soon💖
How AMAZE-BALLS is the Captain's desk? The thumbnail required a hand tool placed in front of its portrait because it looks THAT real! wowwowwow (and I need to restock the superlatives cabinet in my brain)!
Haha thank you Linda! I take amaze-balls as one of the highest compliments😄😃
It IS awesome! I think the top would be scratched some, too. Maybe some stains from sloshed steins of beer. Can't wait to see the maps and ledgers spread out across the top of it!
Thank you Robin! I plan to age it once I get all the minis in place on top. Scratches and coffee stains galore ;)
Love how that turned out! Great job as always!
Thank you, too, for the opportunity to contribute to your wonderful channel and project.
I hope that we can do this again in the future!
Have a better day ... as I always say!
That would be great! Thank you for the chair again😄 I know the Captain will be glad he is able to kick back and relax at his desk in style ;)
Fabulous job on the desk, Ara. You never cease to amaze me. I don’t have the patience to work that small, I don’t think but it’s so much fun watching you do it.
I also checked out Sean’s channel and he’s an extremely talented guy. Fun to watch him too. I don’t have the patience again for that. 😂
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.🥰
Thank you Dianne! I feel the same about working in 1/4 scale... I definitely could not do that... one sneeze and everything's gone lol!
I am here, watching the adds, waiting for the video to start, because I promised to do so in order to support this channel!
Thank you so much Arianne! Your support is much appreciated!!
Turned out great and that was so nice that person sent that beautiful chair to you 👍😀 it goes great with your desk 👍
Yes I am feeling super blessed to have it! Thank you!!
Wow that is fantastic. I was amazed at the machine you used for cutting out the pattern, I have never seen this before. Thank you so much for sharing your tutorials.
Thank you so much!
Spectacular as usual! Thank you for sharing Sean’s channel, too.
KITS??! Woooooottt!!! You are continually amazing Ara!
Yay! I am glad you are excited for them. I purposefully said a deadline out loud in a video so I can get myself in gear on creating them lol!!
Oh my goodness!! You're incredible!! Thank you so much for showing the process of designing your desk and how wonderful that you would share the pattern with us! ❤ I really want to design my own pieces as well, but I'm just learning. You are seriously such a great help!
Beautiful desk... I love the carved look you created. Gomez will have desk envy!
Haha you are probably right!!😄
Absolutely great desk! The chair is marvelous; so detailed and matches desk perfectly. Thank you for the tutorial and file!
Thank you Daphne! You are very welcome!💖
Thank you so much for these videos and patterns! My kids are in love with a book called So Many Bunnies (by Rick Walton) and they have requested I make a doll house from the book to use with their Calico Critters. The patterns you have made available are just the thing to furnish the house.
Wonderful!
You've really outdone yourself with this desk! GORGEOUS!
Thank you Joni!
Beautiful!!!! Absolutely beautiful! !!! You did an incredible job on this. I don't think I could have thought all that out!!! Thanks Ara !!
Thank you Sarah! I appreciate it💖
What a great build! It is amazing & the chair makes it perfect! ❤
Thank you!! I am so thankful for the chair!!
The desk is amazing! You are so incredibly talented Ara!
Ara........you continue to astound me!! Absolute perfection!! Stunning design! Ty for sharing! 🙏🏻💕
Aww thank you Maggie!!
This turned out absolutely gorgeous... and Sean has a new sub as well.
I loved this desk. The detail is awesome and I will be buying some of your kits. This is one that I’m going to buy. Do you think you might do a Tiki style decor in a mid century house. I love everything old Victorian to mid century to super fun tiki decor. By the way. There is lots of people who are crazy about Tiki and I’m positive if you get on there platforms they would love getting into this. Most of them either spend tons of money on decor or make a lot themselves. It’s something to consider 🥰plus I would buy your kits of that. I could even get into using found objects and using material from home to make items. Thank you for all your hard work. Because of you I’ve become fascinated by the doll house themes.
So glad you are goin to sell kits. The desk is amazing 😉❤️
Yay thank you Diana!!
It does look awesome, the desk and the chair are just brilliant .
Thank you💖💖
Imagine if you had taken a few chunks out of the desk where maybe a sword went awry! I love this
Haha great idea! I may age it a little bit more in the future so you never know! ;)
Love this! Great design and I totally would try this project. I'm saving up for a Cricut Design machine and probably make it out of wood. If that doesn't happen, a kit in mat board would be most welcomed. I've seen Heather Tracy super glue all her cut pieces before attaching them so that might help with the glue not pooling in those intricate spaces. Good job Ara and thank you for sharing your amazing talent.
Thank you Debbie! Good idea about using the glue before hand... I will have to try it that way next time I make it. If you do make it out of wood I would love to see!!
A wonderful miniature table. Good job.
Wowza! Both pieces are fantastic, great job 😀
Thank you Donna!
Hello my friend Ara!! I do hope you’re doing well! I’m so very behind watching videos. I just haven’t had the desire. Chemo is very hard on Daddy and I am the only caregiver. My youngest daughter lives at home and helps by getting groceries and keeping up my house. Luckily daddy lives directly in front of me. I’m just now beginning to feel that I have the energy to stay awake watch a video or two. You are so talented that it absolutely amazes me!! I love this project! I love watching you draw, and make! You have gotten VERY high tech since I was watching regularly!! A laser machine!!! Wow!!! That is absolutely amazing!!! I subbed when you had less than 2000 subbies and you’re amazingly growing!! And you deserve every accolade! I do think of you and a couple other very kind supportive creators and when I do I say a prayer. I watched your video about being tired from your October video creations. You felt the same last year. Please remember that your viewers will all be here. One two or three videos a week. Of course more $ will be there if you create more often. So it’s relax or make $... tough decision. 🤣 Many many hugs to you! I love the desk and would love to see it with a water mark, papers hanging out of the drawers, etc. I am seriously amazed at your talent. Hugs and happy crafting! Thanks so much for sharing!!💙💙💙
What a treat to see your name pop up my friend!! I am thankful to hear from your whenever you have time💖💖 My mother just finished up chemo not too long ago so I am familiar with how tough of a road that is. I am sure you dad is so thankful for your help💖 Haha yeah I have upgraded a few of my tools here and there. Sometimes they are super helpful but I still enjoy making things by hand to ever give up everything over to the machines! Great ideas for the top of the desk as well. As soon as I have minis to go on the desk I will age it up for sure ;) Thank you again for your continued thoughts and support! Big hugs!
Bentley House Minis prayers for your mom. I’ll always be here! Many hugs!!💙💙💙
Oh I love the desk and the laser cutter is amazing
Thank you Cindy!!
@@BentleyHouseMinis You're welcome Ara :)
Holy Mother of Minis! You're incredible, what fantastic miniatures you create, thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much 😀😂
Wow, things are really developing beautifully - thank you Ara!
Aww thanks Jillian!!
Ara, this is great. What is that cutter you are using?
I love the desk! Thank you for the pattern! Looking forward to your laser cut kits! ♥️♥️♥️

What a fantastic desk with so much decorative and lovely details. Love it! Thanks for sharing! ❤👍 LG vom Tinchen
Thank you so much💖💖
Fits perfect in the room! Love the result
Thank you Daniela!
Oh YEAH ! Une autre merveille ! Merci !
So glad you like it! This is one of my favorites too!
Ara I am almost completely done with my desk and I have loved the whole process. Even cut out the scroll work for the sides and back. But I am stuck trying to figure out how tall to make the desk, how high should the legs be? Again absolutely love this piece and am already planning to start again to perfect it. My drawer openings were'nt so great. Love all your videos :)
Fantastic! I look forward to hopefully seeing it if you send me a pic when its done! The legs on my desk are about 1/2 inch high. I hope that helps!
Ara you are so talented and so generous. Thank you so much xoxo
Thank you💖💖
Awww...Thanks so much for sharing this with us!!
You are so welcome!
Oh I love it and Thankyou so very much for sharing 🙏🏻 I would love to try this one
I hope you will share it with me if you do!!💖
Absolutely amazing and creative ❤️ you inspired me to start a small project feels great to create ❤️
That's amazing! I always love hearing that one of my videos sparked some creativity!! Happy building!
@@BentleyHouseMinis thank you ❤️

Whoo hoo! I am excited to get them going too ;)
I love it, so cute. Can't wait to see more.
Thank you Alicia!
I love this desk. I think I might need this for my Witch Cottage. If you do have this in a kit, I will definitely need to get it.
Where did you buy your laser cutter ? Was it very expensive ? Thanx for sharing your work with us ! you are very talented !
Here is all the info for the laser cutter! I hope it's helpful for you (includes links) ruclips.net/video/evJtlwc2iJQ/видео.html
While brown is not my favorite color I have to say that the desk (and chair) looks fabulous. Also it fits with the rest of the quarters of course. ;-)
I think it would be really fun to redo it in a bright fun color... but everything in the Captains project is brown lol! So glad you liked it!
Hi I love your videos... I remember watching a mini book video where you had received a gift of a book that almost looked like a journal where sections had been created to put things or bits of fabric etc but I can't find it anywhere now.. Do you remember the video name I thought it was in the Captain's Quarters?? I really hope you can help. Thank you Julia 😁
Ara, your desk turned out wonderfully! On a side note, I just ran across a video involving the HMS Victory, Adm. Nelson's ship. Included are some great shots of the Grand Cabin, Nelson's quarters when he was aboard. Not sure if I can post a link but the title is John Bishop Explores Ancestor’s Time On HMS Victory from Who Do You Think You Are? You might see some details you want to add to the Captain's Quarters.
Thanks for sharing your talent and imagination with us.
Awesome suggestion! I found the video and I will get it a watch ;) Thank you💖
Wow! Your creativity and talents are phenomenal. I'm glad to find your excellent channel. Thanks for bringing inspiration and sharing thorough instruction for producing works of art. Have you visited Kansas City's Toy & Miniature Museum? William Robertson has many of his fabulous fine-scale minis displayed there.
Awesome as always. You have tools I dream of getting.
Thank you! I hope to do a video on the laser cutter soon to give more info for those who are interested... as with 3D printer there are ups and downs and considerations. But they can be super helpful little things!
Thank you Sean! Subscribed!
Yay!
I absolutely love this little desk and chair 💕 you make such wonderful things and always make it look so easy. I really appreciate the time you take to explain everything. Thank you so much Ara! 💕♥️
Thank you Jan! I am so glad you enjoyed the video and it's always great to hear that my explanations make sense!!
Waiting for the desk kit please 😍 🙏
Yet again amazing work
Thank you💖
Thank you . Enjoyd watching 😍
So glad you enjoyed! Thank you!
If I may, what laser cutter do you use? I adore your work. Came to your channel through Heather Tracey and have binge watched everything lol. I am also such a die hard Addams family fan and I had to watch your creation. Have you ever heard of Christine MacConnell? You would love her work!
Welcome Adrian!! So glad you are here :) I use a generic K40 laser cutter. And yes I have heard of Christine! She is amazing💖💖 I watched her Netflix show and I am now subscribed to her youtube channel.
That is so beautiful! :D I´m in love with both the desk and the chair :D
Thank you so much!!
I'll wait for the kits!!
I am working on them now ;)
Gorgeous desk Ara, I can see the captain sitting at it building his models. Will you be making a doll for this scene?
I haven't decided yet but it's not out of the realm of possibilities :)
Beautiful
I'm sorry but what laser cutter do you use? I'm looking for a laser cutter and don't want to accidentally end up with something only able to etch wood sheet
Wow! very detailed. your projects are amazing!
Hi thank you for sharing. I’m new to SVG files and I clicked on your links but when it got to Dropbox there was nothing there. Is there something different about SVG files and how they can be saved? Thank you.
Wow that is absolutely beautiful :)
Thank you!
Looks great

Hi great video as usual you are amazing do you sell this desk as a kit? It would be perfect in my dollhouse
It will be my next big kit to tackle after I get the Ice Box finished ;) So either the end of this year or beginning of 2021 it should be ready! ;)
Looks fantastic!!!!!
Thank you so much Macen!!
I am loving this, if I may ask what is the name of your lazer printer
It's a generic K40 machine. Thank you!
That is fantastic!
OMW. This is awesome!! I have a small problem. How do I know if a pattern is 1:12 if it does not say. Only says to scale but not what the scale is. Also how do I convert 1:16 to 1:12 please. Thank you so much for ll your beautiful tutorials.
Thank you Barbara! If you look in the corner of the paper it has a box that says "make sure this box is 1"x1" for 1:12 scale" that should help figure things out ;)
If you are able to (assuming you have a pattern vs. a box of parts to be assembled that is at a store that can't be opened without purchasing it) take measurements. For example, let's say you have a pattern for a dining room table. An average table is about 3' high. Which means the pattern (to scale 1:12) should be 3" high. 1 foot in real size = 1 inch to scale.
Hope that helps.
To convert from 1:16 to 1:12 multiply by 4/3.
For example ... If you have a pattern dimension that is 1:16 scale that is 1" long ... that part is 16" in real life. 16" / 12 = 1.3333333" in 1:12 scale. So multiply by 16 then divide by 12. Or, (reduce the fraction) multiply by 4 and divide by 3. The answer is the same.
The difficult part of doing that is converting the decimal part to a standard fraction. ".3333333" = 1/3 which isn't a standard "ruler" dimension.
The other way to accomplish this would be to go metric and use millimeters instead.
Hope this helps!
Love, love it!!!!!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Looks amazing!

Yay!
do you sell the cutouts?
What is laser cutter your using?
It's a generic K40 machine ;)
Hey Ara, I just remembered that I forgot to share this video & your new one to Pinterest. While doing it, I waited for the pre-video commercials to play (like a good subscriber) & I saw the funniest thing in your Adsense, a toy called a Rainbocorn. You'll have to play the ad to even believe this thing is real, but it's a plush toy with a unicorn horn & it comes in an eggshell. It has pics on its tummy like a Care Bear, but the weirdest thing in the whole ad is that the toy also has its own rainbow coloured 💩! Honest, I had to Google to make sure I wasn't hallucinating the whole twirly event. While your govt worries about *your* content being up to scratch for kids, YT selects the advertisement for toy 💩 for your Adsense - bizarre.
Hahaha that would surprise me if I didn't have young kids right now... everything is all about rainbows, unicorns, and poop.... doesn't surprise me that they shoved all of that into 1 toy. I am sure the commercial was still a sight to see!!😲
I’m pretty new to your channel and I’ve been wondering what you plan to do with your final projects? I love your work and really appreciate you sharing how you made everything.
Good question! Some of them I take to Miniature shows to display, some of them I use as learning tools when I do talks about miniatures or do art classes. I hope someday to loan the Addams Mansion to a museum so it can be on public display for a while... we shall see ;) Also some of them I give-away as gifts👍
Bentley House Minis That’s great! You are very talented and most people don’t realize how important it is to embrace their talents. I think you could even make a good profit by selling minis.
I'm having trouble downloading the SVG files. Is anyone else having issues?
What type of cutter was that?
It's a K40 laser Cutter
Where is Sean’s link?
I would love to buy a kit from you!!!!!!
Awesome! I will be sure to let y'all know when they are ready!
Oh please give the top of the desk a cup ring! Like a lighter discolored spot like that’s where he always puts his drink. Or paint splotches and two cups that say “paint water” “not paint water” since he always makes his ships
Definitely! I am not exactly sure what will go on the desk yet so it will be aged once the items arrive ;) A cup ring sounds perfect!
what machine do you use?
I have a laser cutter now, but before that I used a silhouette cameo to draw out the pattern and then I would hand cut it. I can't remember which one I used for this.
@@BentleyHouseMinis yes which laser cutter?
@@erinhallmakes777 I have a video with all the info and links 😉 You can find it here: ruclips.net/video/evJtlwc2iJQ/видео.html
@@BentleyHouseMinis thanks
I finished one of my paintings and found out gorilla glue doesn’t adhere well to paper or fabric so I sewed on it and that worked.
The reference picture looks to me like it's from The pirates! in an adventure with scientists (US title: The pirates! band of misfits)
Thank you for the reference... I will look it up!
