I think a couple of the things I love about watching you work; problem solving and fully accepting outcomes that you didn't plan for. It inspires me to "just keep going" when things don't turn out the way I expected. Happy mistakes - new discoveries.

  • @valeriebrincheck6034

The reason your rocking chair falls over is because the curve of the “rockers” is too much. If you had used a larger circular item to make the rocker flatter it wouldn’t fall backwards. Something with twice the diameter of the tape roll like maybe a gallon paint can would work.

I formed my rockers on a smaller roll of masking tape; it fell over even faster LOL! I did manage to remedy it by 1) shortening the front legs a bit, 2) adding some nails as directed and finally, 3) inserting a small piece of dowelling inside the roll of the armrests. Adding the stops at the back helped too! ;-)

Thank you so much for making these posts with templates! This rocking chair is my first attempt and it is coming along quite nicely; still needs painting. :) I set the legs more forward, right to the front curl, and it sits with a slight lean but still upright. I attached the legs straight up and down, without any angle; I will change this either on this model on the next. I'm going to do the couch next! :) UPDATE: I found after adding the filler, the chair sat upright even better! no nails this time around. :)

The weight distribution is based on the leg placement between the rockers. I had this issue also. Once I pushed the legs a little further back on the rockers it distributed the weight more evenly and problem was solved. Thanks for this tutorial. Haven’t tried a miniature before. I made a rocking horse not a chair.

Its rather amazing how you can take cardboard and make a rocking chair... and I keep forgetting this is even smaller then the scale I’m used to. I usually see like Barbie size and I know this is like almost half the size and this is even smaller so it’s just very impressive that you get so much detail and make these amazing items at such a small scale.

Love the rocking chair. Neither of my grandmothers had one (closest was a rocking recliner 😄) but it always bring good memories of them anyway, trope of elderly grandmothers in them or no. 😋 I wonder, as I might have said I'm no craft genius but I had an idea. Just for looks I would have lenghtened the supports for the armrest and put the rockers on that, wonder how that would have looked like. Would still have the balance issue I think. 😁

I believe, the issue with paper towel can be fixed by misting it with water before gluing orby using not-wet glue, like a glue stick. And the front legs should be shorter than the back ones, to help with the balance. But your fix is cool, good to know!

      .
I have to tell you, Ara...
I was (trying to watch) someone else's tutorial video, but had to turn it off (sound) really fast! I hate when voices are so condescending like we're all little children and know nothing. This one was about making miniature frames which I really wanted to learn... she assumed that everyone always watches her videos and knows what technique she loves.... well this was the first time I had ever seen her. I had to mute the video just to watch it without hearing her rudeness.

  • @dolfinmagikpro
    @dolfinmagikpro 4 года назад

Brilliant! I love the idea of using the nails as counter-balance!
Perhaps using stick glue to attach the paper towel (PT) would have produced fewer wrinkles as it is not water-based like Tacky glue is and the PT would not have absorbed so much liquid, causing the wrinkles. Or maybe spraying it with a little hairspray may have kept it from absorbing the water in the paint. Just a thought.
Keep up the great work! As always ... Have a better day!

I think the rockers are set too far back and that's why the chair wouldn't stand up. The chair probably needs to be much closer to centered on the length of the rocker to balance.

May I ask how would I sink this gorgeous rocking chair down to 1:24 scale (I think it may be referred to 1/2") I'm a struggling newbie finding references/patterns for the 'diddy' stuff 😂 not experienced enough to design my own yet......🤦‍♀️

All you need to do is print the pattern at 50% and then make sure to use materials that are half the thickness of the ones I used. Many people forget to use thinner materials and then the items looks too chunky when finished. I hope that helps!

So what this rocking chair really needs is a crocheted blanket (afghan); and just for fun I made a miniature one! Ara, I would love to send it to you, do you have a PO Box or similar?

Very nice and clear. Well demonstrated but why on earth do you have someone strumming a guitar while you’re talking?
