- All valuations were correct at the time of broadcast. This object was once used as an astray by this lady’s parents and after her husband polished it, realised it was actually quite valuable. This wine vessel originates from Russia and is part of the 17th Century 'The Last Flowering of Court Art' collection. It is recognised for its silver exterior and soft patterned enamel. This clip was filmed in the Isle of Man in 2002.

Geoffrey Munn is a gem and a national treasure. 👏
I could listen to Geoffrey Munn all day.
This is the most charming and classy expert!
Geoffrey Munn is just the best! I wish there was a compilation of his appraisals!
“A checkered history” as it was awarded at a chess tournament. What a way with words.
Very nice cup
The nicest man ever.
An expensive ashtray...😂
Never in the history of ashtrays has such a small ashtray existed
@@FayAlexGGwell you obviously didn’t watch the whole clip nor have you ever used a bottle top for an ashtray 😂
@@JaEDLanc I used to do that! 😊
So this is from 2002, the value of this object today would be..? My guess ten to twelve thousand pounds.
Out of interest, did you reach that figure range based on the item, or on Mr Munns estimate adjusted for the time passed? Both would, obviously, be valid but I'm interested in which you used xx
@@fionam7768 Bit of both, the Russians had already began buying back their treasures by 2002, the value would have at least doubled since then. This is a nice object but it's only one cup so maybe not the most sort after. That was the thinking (I think). Wouldn't be surprised if it was worth way more than 10k but I would be surprised if it was less.
@@nickm3861 And your credentials for such an assessment are base on expertise in the field, or purely speculation?
Take a break kingy@@kingy002
@@kingy002 Based purely on my own observations of values over the past twenty odd years plus the facts I provided before, I'm not in the antique trade I just have an interest in antiques. Was hoping for people to give their own opinions on value also.
The ignorance is utterly disgraceful… an ashtray, of all things.
@frozenwarning please… would they use the Crown Jewels as pot plant holders?
Go to your safe place to recuperate.
