I think it’s such a privilege to get to this point. It’s just proof of a long life and hopefully wisdom. Also her hair is gorgeous and fits her so well 💛
Amen!!
I never had a problem with it. I never colored my hair. I'm 55. Mine is more white than black. I've always loved it.
Dang girl I see you in every comment section on this page
Not when you started greying at 18 and your now 40 and almost all silver like myself lol
NATURAL BEAUTY ❤
Ladies! I promise you going grey is life changing! you will no longer be tied to getting your roots dyed. I went cold turkey and once my roots were 1 1/2 inches I got a bomb pixie. It's been two years, my hair is back to shoulder length and there is not a single day that someone doesn't stop me and ask me who did my color. I just say God lol. I'm a salt-pepper grey and my hair has never been healthier.
I bet your hair is gorgeous too. Well I know it is. And that's all that matters.
Yesss!!
That's a good idea. I have grey right on the temples so I might consider doing that as it comes in more. Had been trying to grow my hair long but just a few days ago I've been thinking about a really cute cut. 🤷🏾♀️
‘God’ 🙌🏾🤣 I like that!
@@DeeperThanHairTv 🥰
I have earned EVERY. SINGLE. GRAY. HAIR!!! It's been coming in gradually throughout my head and I love it. I've never really dyed my hair anyway, so I'm not trippin lol. I appreciate this body that's held me for 42 years, even though all my health issues. I wasn't supposed to live to see 33 because of a systematic infection. So I see it as my promise from God that He said ,"Not today, Satan!!!" 🤣🤣🤣
Amen!
Love your energy! I hope you keep living a long life and embracing yourself. 🤍
Amen!!!! The devil is a LIE!!!!!!!! Gods continued blessings upon you!!!!!!!!!!!
Amen
I’m a premature gray. It started when I was 12. It was definitely noticeable in high school, and my classmates pointed it out. Now I’m in my early 30s, and I have so much of it. I’ve never dyed it because I didn’t want to be ashamed of it because society says it’s for “old people” or it makes people age. So, I made it my signature, and it forced me to be cool with who I am. My silver is stubborn. It pokes through braids. Stylists tell me it’s wiry. *sigh* But anyway, her hair is beautiful.
Absolutely
As soon as she turned her head, I screamed Mara!!!!! You made it girl! Mara is the showrunner on shows like The Game, Being Mary Jane, and the epic Girlfriends and had her hands in Moesha, Steve Harvey Show, and The Parkers. She and her husband are Hollywood legends. So proud of you Kee!
I started going grey in my 20s so by my late 40s it was almost white at the roots. In the end it became resistant to colour so I took the plunge into the natural journey by shaving it all off and starting again.
That was 3 years ago and it's now shoulder length and almost white all over. I use purple shampoo on it a couple of times a week to keep it from turning yellow.
Natural hair is very freeing, no more worrying about grey roots showing up. I definitely recommend it.
I love it!!
So, a regular white shampoo and conditioner no longer can be used?
@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley yes it can but purple helps enhance the grays
I had a few greys when I was 18/19 now they’re gone. I’m 23 now and I hope they come back soon lol
Wow I needed this info.
I feel like this was a treat to see you style Mara Brock Akil's hair. I have always loved her natural curls, but it was cool to see her get her hair straightened.
Beautiful!!
Thank you!
She’s beautiful and her hair is beautiful. You did an amazing job as always.
Thank you!
Mara would be be gorgeous with ANY hair! Her grey is beautiful!!
I just wanted to say thank you so much for your videos, Ive been watching you since High school and Ive had trouble with my hair because I live in vermont and no one knows how to silk press African American hair. Your videos completely helped me learn my how to correctly silk press on my own and Im very grateful.
I love that!! Thanks for your support!
I lost most of my hair due to a late diagnosis of an autoimmune disease and when everything settled down, my hair grew back grey. I know it's not for everyone but I love it! It does need a little more TLC but every strand is wisdom. Mara's hair is so beautiful and you did a great job. Blessings and continued success as always xxx
I'm glad you're doing better. Am I right? Are you doing better?
Thank youuu! 💜
It's the voiceover for me! ALWAYS informative and entertaining! And how special to have this video with TWO talented and beautiful queens!! Now, I am embracing my gray. I am more pepper than salt but loving the gray as it comes in. I am blessed to have a stylist that specializes in natural hair and keeps my gray white. Thank so much for sharing your amazing talents in these videos. I can't wait to watch each time you post. Stay blessed and safe my friend....
Thanks so much!! You as well!
Ditto!! Her passion to make her clients feel special is astounding! Top that off with skills…. Amazing. Slay on, Queen!!
Can’t wait to go grey I think it’s so beautiful
Same!
Same! I feel like it’s such a privilege to even get to this point. It’s a proof of wisdom and life lived. I’m here for it 💛
My strawberry blonde hair started getting a few white hairs right at the front when I was about 23. I was not impressed, and used to pull them out. I just turned 51, and it's now a full white patch. You can see it in my photo - I had pink streaks added in for my 50th birthday, and my 2a - 3a hair straightened. Strangely, I'm now getting the same kind of white patches starting all around my head. It almost looks like they've been intentionally put there. Ironic that I used to pull those white hairs out when I was young, and now get young women freaking out about how cool my white patch is when they find out it's natural. 😄 Hair norms sure have changed, and I'm here for it!
I started seeing grey hairs in my 30’s, but just wasn’t ready to embrace it. I knew the grey was inevitable because both of my parents hair was salt/pepper in their younger years. After letting go of getting relaxers I figured by 40 it was time to embrace my grey! Y’all this was the BEST decision I could have ever made. I am 45 years old aging gracefully with this beautiful grey hair. I am reminded everyday that this is a gift from God. A crown of wisdom! I get compliments everywhere I go and it gives me the opportunity to encourage others to embrace their grey! Thank you for this beautiful video and encouragement!!!! I will continue to embrace my grey!!!!
It's silver hun, pure silver because we've earned it 😊
I didnt "go grey" persay, but I have a condition called poliosis, which shows as a spot in the very front of my hair where pigment does not grow. The scalp is light and the hair is silver and it's been that way for most of my life. The hardest part I felt was accepting it, especially with being super young but my biggest reminder to anyone going grey is that I not as bad as it feels. I know that our hair is our greatest accessory but it's also the best story teller. Our accomplishments, our sicknesses, our stress, its all in our hair. Treat your greys as pages in your storybook, the tale it tells is oh so beautiful
i had a friend with this and it was really gorgeous to me! It’s really cool please continue to rock it ✨✨
is it possible you have waardenburg syndrome (do you have any level of blindness or deafness as well?)
Funnily enough, it's becoming a big trend among kids and teens to dye just the front hair a different color lol
I was just reading about this it's similar to vitiligo except for poliosis turns the hair White because they're is no pigmentation in that part of the hair, and vitiligo changes the body with white patches because they're is no pigmentation in that part of the skin that turns White
@@carmencitadavis9043 yep, although I would say with poliosis, the skin is slightly lighter, but its only in a way you would notice with prolonged staring (aka the kind you do to your own body). Vitiligo makes the skin sheet white
I just love her reaction and how she was feeling herself to the end of the video, this is me literally when I get my hair done too. This really made my day. 😊
Yesss!
I cannot wait for my grays to come in. It’s gorgeous! When i got pregnant a ton came in and i was so excited, and then they mostly fell out postpartum 😅 but I’m proud of every one i have left and I’m 33. Always admired women who wear it with pride, we earned every one of them!
🥰💯
I always tell my clients that their grey are “natural highlights” and this girl you’re doing looks like she has paid to have this colour! This is the definition of natural highlights for real! 💅
Edit: I also call them wisdom highlights haha
Yes!!! My baby hair has matured. I'm not hiding anything. It's a blessing to be alive and healthy in 2022! I'm from Third Ward Houston Texas, Don't call me old. Call me me a survivor!!! Blessing to everyone who is living life to the fullest!!
Mara looks absolutely stunning. If I didn’t know I would have thought she colored her hair that way. It looks so beautiful.
So true.
OMG I literally just had my beautician cut off the last bit of blond. I started graying in my early 40's. Initially I fought it. Plucking here and there and coloring it. Once the pandemic happened I was like the heck with it. I've transitioned from a mohawk to above shoulder length and gray all over. Thank you for sharing your helpful tips as it was right on time.
Omg your hair sounds like it's fab!
@@DeeperThanHairTv It is!
My mom said the more you pluck the more they grow
@@TMarieE2023 yes I learned that lesson.
It's fabulously big!
It’s beautiful to see more women embracing their greys. We are who we are and natural is beautiful!! 💖💖💖💖
So true! And I wish women would feel that way about their bodies and faces too and not let fake social media get in their heads (or eyes). We're all natural beauties!
She looks so beautiful in any of her pictures! Her grey looks just stunning wow!
When I started going grey I was in my early 30s & freaked out! I used to take a black permanent marker and color the white streaks. Now, I'm in my early 50s and have more grey on my crown. I've learned to embrace the grey and in my opinion, it's a classy & sexy look. I get a lot of compliments regarding my hair from women & men. One of my new nicknames is "Silver Fox". I appreciate all the silver strands I have and will grow in the future.
I ❤️ that you showcase ALL textures of Black hair. Every head you touch, you leave w such a beautiful finish! Her hair reminds me of the women in my family of my great grandmas generation! I used to love brushing my Great Aunt's hair 🥰
She's beautiful! She could pull off any style or color. Great tips too for going gray gracefully!
Like the saying goes "if you can't beat them, join them!!" I've decided not to color my grays no more!! Had a patch of gray since 9 years old, ( I am now 38) and now it's more sporadic throughout my head. When I would dye my hair black the gray would turn brown. I just wish it would hurry up and turn all gray instead of strands here and there!! I'm ready.. She looks beautiful 😍
Grey all the way!!! It is sooo freeing!!!! She has such beautiful hair! Have a blessed week every one! ✌️
I love your commentary when people get so happy with the amazing job you do to their hair. Must feel so good to make people happy!!
😢 I'm not gonna lie, I'm STILL in my feelings that 'Love Is' got canceled. Thanks for the tip about the paddle brush. Gorgeous work as always. ❤️
No fair! Mara is gorgeous no matter what her hair looks like. 😍😍😍
Kee, you're just so freaking awesome!!! My niece is an inspiring beautician and I told her about your channel. She now calls with excitement to update me when you upload new videos. Thank You for being an inspiration to so many, young and old! And for the tips on grays as mine are beginning to come in.
I just started with getting some greys but I’m coloring it until I’m 80 😆
But she is a beautiful woman . Looks great grey
it's such a beautiful blessing to me and hair is a women's glory and can't wait to see my hair getting thick and beautiful thank you i love your hair product.
Her smile is bright and beautiful to frame her hair and showcase her lovely spirit!
She's precious!...Love how happy she was at the end!...I need to age like that!
I respect Ms. Mara Brock Akil so much. Her hair is gorgeous.
Her hair is so pretty naturally, beautiful! Can't wait to see what you do with it 💖
Oh her gray is GORGEUS and so is she. You did an amazing job on her hair
It is always a pleasure watching your videos. Love your energy, thanks for being you and sharing your talent and skill. Her hair is beautiful!
She’s beautiful! Thank you to her for giving us such great shows!!
The first grey hair I noticed was at 31 and it was an eyelash! A few years later I noticed grey hairs in my brows so I mentioned to my hairdresser that I found it strange that I was graying everywhere except my head. That's when she told me all my greys were in the back on the inside of my ponytail. Finally started seeing them in front a year into the pandemic and I want to color them all the time, not because they bother me, but because I don't have enough yet for that pretty salt and pepper look.
She and her hair is stunning! Love seeing the grey grow out. So inspiring!
Oh my goodness! Her hair is so gorgeous, and there's so much of it!
I wold die for one of these straighteners! They always make everyones hair so so perfect! Also she is absolutely GORGEOUS
Yes thank you for showing Grey hair and yes it's long, I'm 61 and fully Grey on top and it's Long down my back so yes I'm loving it. I've been Grey since middle school so YES Thank you for showing this and it's Beautiful
I can’t wait to go gray. It’s so beautiful especially when the hair is healthy!!
Her hair is gorgeous and you’re such an amazing teacher and stylist!
Deeper Than Hair, I am one of the people who used the quarantine period to visit new places virtually at a cost of "free to me"; joining new groups and discussions and Grace led me to your channel.
I picked up on your very appropriate, precise metaphorical chosen name for your channel e.g., hair starts below the visual roots.
I watched that first video and I have treasured your content from all of it since then.
I subscribed and viewed content prior to the first one I saw and have been inspired to be a devoted follower because deeper than flesh is also the spiritual, the intangible and I receive all your affirmations and nudges to go beyond the superficial.
I am the youngest of my parents first four (4) female children. All four of our brothers are younger than me. This makes me the middle child and sometimes in the best position to watch sisters and choose if I would follow some their beauty secrets.
I opted out of ALL until Mama's desired age 21 years, I received my first perm in 1980.
I had some very good experiences with beauty shop stylists. My Mother as a minister's wife, every other week: wash, deep conditions and hooded hair dryer wearing processing caps.
I think I generally avoided or was not "attempting to make changes" (modify to any body parts, hair and ears before age 18 years as advised by my Mama.
Turned 21 years old, got my ears pierced two on each side, first relaxer and bangs cut. These were small revisions and the upkeep was doable cost-wise.
I knew 2 stlyists in Mobile who's family members and my family had known prior to my birth.
I was not than content with one Stylist and never returned to his salon. He cut my thick, long hair into a "shag" and use something "to thin out". This was all without my permission. I called my Mama (Montgomery, AL; also I moved to Mobile, Alabama) crying very much uncontrollable about my cut and the awful style.
If my Mama was not a minister's wife I could easily understand that she would be cussing out that stylist telling him never to touch my "head ever from the moment on".
To rapidly get my hair out of those awful layers, I needed to cut the length of my hair to the shortest layer.
The gray hairs stayed when they came and made no difference in how I felt about my hair. That was until November 2007 when I had surgery.
I knew from having a great stylist and he was not a family friend NOT to get a relaxer after surgery. I waited until February, 2008 to get my hair done( in Tuscaloosa, AL where I was working on obtaining my post-Masters degree from local college).
Afterwards, I could not drive because of cervical disc surgery and with whiplash neck collar. I let a stylist in the area that I met at the JCPennys Salon. She asked me did I want to color my gray "a little bit subtly, not really noticeable".
My quick response was I most definitely would not, never had and never would. I had a full-time job and was working on my research as I had completed course work for my chosen degree program. I would never be chasing something that I did not need.
However, the "relaxer and the anesthesia combined" and I was losing my hair through sheddings that were left behind where I sitting or standing like the wicked witch in the cartoons.
So for hair repair, given I was forty-nine (49) years and with high probability of need for future surgeries and anesthesia, I left my natural hair alone for personal, philosophical and medical needs.
In 2010, our only daughter (son two years younger) was proposed to marry at the stroke of midnight.
In planning for the wedding "at least 1 year away" because my daughter wanted to be married on "the anniversary of her proposal", I wore protective and scarves head until I found a stylist on Fort Polk Army area. While waiting for my appointment, I noticed how she braided and that there was difficulty under doing at all like the other takedowns.
My referral was through African American Army women. They chose the best and most reasonably priced, and who used an app to make appointments was my favorite salon stylist.
I would return after I took the style out and she would say "your gray hair is beautiful and shiny" asking did I use anything particular to care for my gray hairs? I liked her approach and stuck with her while there. She would note that my hair was growing so fast and asking what did I use to get it to grow so fast.
I let her know that as taught by my Mama I used only one brand for all of my hair, "never mixed brands(shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, leave-in conditioner, oils, etc.
My daughter loved my hair as well and was instrumental in my taking care of it to so that all of it was visible in the style I chose to wear for her wedding. The style for the wedding was beautiful and I received many comments and compliments regarding my beautiful hair from among all the others I spoke with in the receiving line. I was first and Mardi Gras music was playing and by force of habits, I was dancing and singing while greeting our guests.
Since May 29, 2019, I have dreadlocks and I have never changed my gray hair so I am trying hopefully to be permanently and completely natural.
That is no waist cincher, no tummy control shape wear and hair changes, I drink plenty of water about four store brought bottles each day and got my steps in.
Because you go Deeper than Hair, I get hair care tips from your videos all the time. May the force (with Grace as the Pilot) continually be known to you and embraced by you, and don't change or "modify any of your truly known God Given Talent.
Sorry, not sorry post so long but your video is the most comprehensive one about gray hairs I have ever viewed. Thank you for that.
I will be sixty-three (63) years old in August. I do not feel like I somebody my age "should be". It is kind of a non factor now. I understand that you are as young or old as you feel.
I am in LOVE with my Grey. She is Beautiful and you again did an outstanding job ❤❤❤
You are so calming. I appreciate you sm 🥰
She’s so gorgeous and her hair is so healthy. I need you as a stylist. I don’t know how I missed you when you were in Philly, I’m born and raised here, 39 as well. I will travel to LA if that’s where you are, I’ve never been to LA but it’ll give me a chance to visit and get my hair blessed by you.
she is so BEAUTIFUL!
oh my word... what a precious gem of hair she has!
OMG, YEEESSSS! It's a vibe! I love everything about this video. Her hair, the energy, the confidence! It's amazing! On top of that the talent and passion that you both have for your gifts!
Her hair is simply beautiful!!😍
She is absolutely gorgeous!!
I’ve met Mara in soho, she was such a inspiration for me letting my GRAYS growing in. I LOVE my gray
Thank you so much for the gray hair content! I started going gray in my late 30s and started dying it immediately. I'm 54 now finally stopped dying my hair last July. I grew it out for 6 months and couldn't stand the demarcation between the gray and dyed hair... So I big chopped. I love my gray TWA. My hair is really gray in the front and still very dark in the back. I'm looking forward to seeing the continued transition.
You go girl! Your hair is beautiful!
@@DrSiglo Thank you so much!!
Same here, started that transition a year ago and stopped dying it, but still don't have the guts to cut it, I'm looking like a skunk now lol, so good for you having a drastic chop and you look amazing!
@@RainRemnant thank you so much!! Believe me… it took some getting used to, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Everyone has to go about their journey in the way that works for them. I’ve seen some women that transition to grey beautifully without drastically cutting. Good luck with your journey!!
@@rachelanthony8526 you're so right, that's different and personal for everyone. Thank you so much too and have a blessed day! 💞
I love her… and you!! She’s been one of my gray inspirations for awhile.
Beautiful lady, she’s the creator of some of my favorite shows ❤️
Her hair is stunning wow
Her hair is absolutely perfect!! 😍😍😍
She is so freaking BEAUTIFUL!
Her Energy is everything! ❤️
Yes Mara's hair is beautiful 😍. Several weeks ago I noticed she has gray hair and loved the gray around her hairline. This particular picture was of her natural curls. I transition last year after my dad's death Feb 2021. I was tired of keeping up with the coloring and haven't regretted my decision my hair texture is similar to Mara's.
she is so gorgeous!!
Her hair is BEAUTIFUL
Me too...Im so excited to still be alive to see it...Gray hair is proof of life💗💗💗💗💗
Her hair is gorgeous
She’s beautiful!!! Amazing work ❤️
I totally agree, discovering Denman brushes was a game changer for me! They're more expensive, but the higher quality makes it worth it! Love to you and your channel :)

THEE MARA BROCK AKIL! She’s just so beautiful! Her hair always looks amazing! Amazing job! 💕
Oh I just looooove the colors of the silver in her hair
wow her hair is beautiful! I love her gray hair 💜
She looks beautiful! Love the way her gray is coming in. I went gray years ago, and didn’t look back.
I am 54 and have had all grey since my 20s. I spent 30 years covering the grey with red hair dye. Every 28 days. But recently I decided it was time and I grew tired of spending the money and wanted to go grey. Menopause blessed me with 2c/3a curls when my whole life has been stick straight. So I’ve had to learn how to diffuse and use curly girl products as well as rock my grey hair I love it. I had to bleach the red out which fried my hair so I did the big chop feb 2021 - and it’s now shoulder length.
She is stunning
She is beautiful, always been a fan of hers
Her hair is so abundant love it
Mara is so beautiful, and this hair is just giving!!!!
Always loved Mara’s hair! so beautiful ♥️♥️
