I knew this girl with hair almost to het butt and she told me she wanted to cut it short because it was too much work and she didnt wear it out any way. At that point in time, I had only ever seen 1 other black woman with such long hair ( ive only seen arm pit length as the longest). After dealing with 3 major hair cuts, I struggled to grow my hair even half past my neck. So yes I was shocked, and even tried to convince her not to do it. I dont think people are upset with her as much as they are projecting their experience/insecurities with hair growth onto her.
When she removes the clingfilm and brushes it with the comb is my favorite part!! The hair is so glossy and beautifully feathered and swooshy. I love it, so satisfying!🖤🖤
Sara McIntosh im natural but i wear my hair mostly straight too (i say mostly cause i dont KILL it with heat as i dont like the limp look) Just easy. No fuss. Wash blow dry, quick pass with flat iron -takes less than 1.5 hrs.-and im good for at LEAST a week. (With quarantine in effect, ive been going nearly two weeks before rewashing.)

gigglyfitzgirl My clients hair still reverts back to texture when it's shampooed. Hers however looked relaxed. Yes she wears it straight more than curly but that doesn't mean it had to be weak like that so we cut the stringy hair off. Not only to make it fuller but more healthy. She doesn't mind the heat and as long as she doesn't let the wrong people do it ever again, it will stay curly when she wets it and she now has the option to wear it either way.

If you dont get frequent trims the dead hair will continue to split.. in a bad case until the root. But not all hope is lost. You can start with conditioning treatments/olaplex and start by cutting a little bit. Also encouraging new hair growth. First identify your hair type.'
I wish I could find a good stylist the last one I had moved out of state. The next two fried my hair with heat damage. The last one just kept cutting off the damage she was doing trying to cover up the heat damage. My hair grows so slow I was horrified and now I’m scared to trust any stylist.

Not trying to be funny, but if she wants to continue to wear her hair straight, what’s the point in cutting off the heat damage? People typically cut off heat damage when they want to wear their natural curls. I know it was addressed that everybody can do what they want to do with their hair. It just seems pointless if she doesn’t intend to wear her natural curls.
because the longer you leave split ends, they start to split more up your hair. making it so you would have to cut off even more. that’s why it’s best to trim your split ends every once in a while to keep your ends at a good state.
Shaqa Lackin is have to disagree. I’ve been natural my whole life. At one point my hair was “heat trained” and it didn’t break and it wasn’t dry. I faithfully got my hair flat ironed every three weeks. In its straightened state, my hair was very healthy and looked great. I embraced a no heat natural journey about 6 years ago, and I slowly cut off the heat trained hair. But while I was choosing to wear my hair straight, I never did a “big chop”. I just got my needs trimmed regularly.
@@cellyjohnson there's a difference between heat trained and heat damaged. It was mentioned that her hair would be ironed multiple times in the same spot in the same sitting, which causes damage. Heat damage takes the nature oils of the hair out, can cause it to be brittle and cause cracking, ect.

Because heat damage dries your hair out and makes it crack off, and it looks bad.
