Friendly tip: turn on the "jacked" skull, so you can't get in vehicles. This includes turrets and all that. You can still board, so be careful, but it can help avoid accidentally getting into vehicles.
Encounters get easier the more enemies you kill because theirs less incoming fire - thank you so much! this has helped my laso run exponentially. 13:05

To anyone who is struggling with this achievement there is a "cheat" for all no-vehicle achievements.
Save & Quit at the last checkpoint (when you get to the last room) and resume. Once you finish the mission you will get the achievement, regardless of if you used vehicles before you saved & quit.

This one works with the bandana skull on as well and it helps quite a bit
Can confirm that this achievement unlocks if you just play the mission normally, then save and exit before completing the mission, restart the MCC (not sure if required, but just to be safe), and resume from your checkpoint. This method works for most "complete mission without using X" as long as you satisfy the requirements in the session that you complete the mission.
I attempted this achievement without the use of the Acrophobia skull. It was utter hell due to having to rely on one marine in a scorpion tank to take out the 4 wraiths while on the way to the door before the Scarab area.
Lemme just say, Halo 3 marine AI in tanks is easily the most infuriating thing in the world
Yeah this is probably the hardest part of the mission for me.
If people also want a bit more of an easier time with this, if you play co-op on this level, your partner(s) can use the vehicles on the map while you don't and you'll still get the achievement, I can confirm as I've done it myself, I did it this way without using the acrophobia skull.
I did it solo without Acrophobia. Co-op would have definitely been easier, but it was so satisfying getting past the area with three wraiths and then the Scarab on foot.

Acrophobia+Bandana is a cheevo-hunter's bread and butter these days. Now it's the multiplayer cheevos that are the hardest, basically.
On the final fight, I found it easier to immediately charge the brute chieftain and while in his animation he will not turn around or attack you, same thing goes for the jet pack brutes if you don’t shoot them. Once you get behind the chieftain do a melee attack and he will drop his gravity hammer and invincibility power up, grab his hammer and his invincibility and use it and use the hammer to kill at the jet pack brutes as they will also do an animation after you kill the chieftain, there might be a few stragglers after that but use your fire grenades from the previous area to kill them. This worked really well for me.
Also works with bandana, so you can just spam the hell out of them with rockets

As I read this, I knew I f’d up. Sadly, I was near the end of the mission. Going to try the save and quit glitch and hope for the best...
It worked!
I got this by total accident. I completed the level normally and closed out of the game. When i came back and resumed it replayed final cutscene and gave me the achievement
Make sure to toggle the BANDANA skull on as well, it makes this achievement a whole lot easier!!!

As far as I can tell misc/collectible achievements can be gained with acrophobia and bandana skull on.
Infinite ammo and flying does make life easier!

Make one for tsavo highway one, it can be done on easy with acrophobia. Also u don’t need to get the hogs over the bridge, just under it and make them touch the wall, remember to load all the load zones doe.

Wooooooow. Followed the whole guide, then after the cartographer scene, I went back inside and killed everyone. But my BR was completely out and without thinking I picked up the chieftain's dropped plasma turret. That is crazy frustrating. Here I go again.

If you plan on doing LASO, give this method a miss. As long as you save and quit once at the last checkpoint you will get the achievement no matter what vehicles you used
I remember when I did this acheviment a while ago I took my about 2 hours to take out the scarab with a fuel rod

bugged, i did this with the arach skull and it never unlocked.
Glitched achievement, didn't touch any turrets or vehicles. Will try the save/load at last room trick someday, but !@#$ this, getting really annoyed at how many of the chievos in MCC are just not popping.

I did this achievement a couple months ago and now they give a flying cheat bruh all that walking for nothing
I did this legit on Xbox legit took around 4hrs. I did this on Steam from this guide lol.

I accidentally told a native to exit the gause turret and it didn't pop, started my second play through and it popped after taking out the two anti air wraiths. Weird but happy I didn't need a second play through
I didnt get the achievement until over a full minute after completing the mission. I was so worried 😭🤣
I just tried this and DID NOT get the achievement. Not sure if using the skull has been patched :(

Also I can confirm you CAN pick up destroyed turrets. Just punch em a couple of times.

Hello, I did what you did on this video, and I did not get the “Who Needs Them?” achievement.

Wish I had done this, I went and got this achievement a week ago and it took me over an hour to beat the mission. And guys you can board wraiths, BUT ONLY FROM THE BACK. If you board from the front you will not get the achievement.
there is so much RNG in this solo , your run is so lucky
yeah this is impossible on pc with more aggressive enemies

It won't work for any scoring or time achievements

Edit: You have to kill at least one of the wraiths first it to spawn. All of my friendly scorpions were destroyed in the previous area, RIP.
I know this might seem weird but have you managed to get all according to plan achievement on the Chinese version as its broken on mcc right now won't unlock on the original unless you get a disc?
Yeah, it's not broken on the Chinese version. That is an old build that doesn't have that glitch. Only the current MCC build has that glitch that prevents it from unlocking. That's getting patched tomorrow, though.

Probably
You can play through the entire mission normally using vehicles if you want. Just save and quit at one of the last checkpoints and the game seems to forget that you used vehicles at all. After saving and quitting resume your mission and finish the rest of the mission without using vehicles or turrets and the achievement is yours. I did this recently and it is by far the easiest way to complete this achievement. Just make sure that you're on legendary before you start the mission.😁

Is there a way to unlock this skull still? I didn’t get it, and I’d like to be able to. I missed the Season 1 rewards, but can I get it in the future?
I'm not sure it'll be available again for a while, maybe they'll bring it back as a tier reward? Regardless, I've seen methods to unlock the skull where you edit some text files. Good luck with that if you're on a console.

Ehm kinda weird to say this but for me it unlocked on legendary but i was driving ... lol so i dont have to bother with this anymore xd
No longer a valid guide. Achievement is not popping with Acrophobia. Did not board vehicles or use turrets. Please make a guide on how to do this as intended.
If you haven't you can just beat the level legit and on the last level, save, quit, restart the game and then load in and it coutns

It doesn’t, 0.00x skulls don’t disable achievements other than score, difficulty, and time related ones. Notice how the difficult CE achievements like not killing any grunts or not picking up weapons on Two Betrayals use Bandana.
People find this mission hard?
that bit with the two anti air wraiths requires a lot of patience on legendary.
