Found this song last week October 2024, i literally cant listen to this beautiful masterpiece without crying. Regardless if its about a person; Animals, life, friends, lonliness. It speaks for LIFE. I love this song oh so much, thank you. Anybody that ever reads this, know that youre not alone and you are loved. I want peace.❤
I think we all have that one person who we allow to break us over and over again but there always comes the day when, on the verge of shattering, we get the courage to keep driving and never turn the car around again.
It's called personal growth and tones of strength. And of course the people that you know, love, and trust standing right beside you. Tho it's sad, most people don't have that.
P_WIZ One of the only? I hope you find others. I am 54 and white but love hip-hop. I watched it begin and evolve. I feel so fortunate to have seen it break and grow from my outside-the-box, confused curiosity.. I did not understand it and thought Dre was gonna mess me up! (I was a dumb ass but young and raised in a cocoon of caucasionism). It scared me but I could not stop watching on MTV and listening elsewhere. Yo! MTV RAPS had me glued to the TV. Hope I find more rap and you find more like this.
I see ur a O.G to the game and definitely with more wisdom than me and I have recently started getting interested in the Fray after just hearing You found me and Save a life on the radio a few times and I am expanding my horizons in musical tastes.

Not to denigrate your experience, but the song actually leans towards the 'protagonist' eventually, and habitually, going back to his ex (..."I always turn the car around"). Anyway, glad to hear you left your abusive situation.
This song reminds me of my life during my drug addiction and my sobriety, I wish I could turn around and relive my life without the drugs then I could remember who I was and how things made me feel, I wonder if I wasn't shattered and if I would be better off just turning around.
No don’t turn around. I feel with addiction mines alcohol and this song resonates with my life as well. We’re stronger than we know and there’s no victory in turning the car around.
For me it's my addiction to an ex girlfriend. I'd move apart strong and willed and then eventually shatter turning the car around and around and around. I still turn the car around but its ben 3 yrs apart now not looking like either will turn bak. Eitherway, today all I feel is the realness I'm faking to others around me daily that have no clue inside I'm fkn shattered. Love this song wish it was longer with more home hitting lyrics. I can't sing along without shattering my heart chest and soul everytime I play it
Back in the early 2000s when I was a kid, I used to sing this to my aunt and mother. I remembered all the lyrics and found it after so long. Never knew the name of the song, but I finally found it again!
This song came on a few moments ago. It's bringing me full circle. This song particularly holds a lot of memories. This was how I felt during my marriage. I always turned the car around and came back "home" sometimes gone 5 minutes, may be 5 days. I looked it up, it came out in 2008. My ex and I had been living together for 5 yrs, 2008 was the year we were married. Full circle and last time in 2019, I didn't turn the car around. Haven't looked back and living my best life!
I finally found this song after years of searching for it. I remember sitting in my car and listening to it in college and crying. I knew I had misinterpreted the lyrics but for me it so adequately described the feelings of depression. I'm 47 now and I still suffer from depression, and for some reason I would like this played at my funeral. Such a haunting, evocative, passionate and purely beautiful song.

This is one of the best songs I have ever discovered. It can apply to anyone and anything. For me I'm tethered to my family and my fear and they keep me from moving on. Everyone has things that hold them back from what they want, for some people it might be, a lover, for others drugs, others still it might be obligation, friends, or work, there are so many tethers in life.
How many times did I turn my car around? How many times did I go back to the one, who was not worthy of my time and feelings? Took me three years to let go and drive straight ahead not turning/looking back. Three years of being shuttered by someone who was emotionally abusing me....this song did not help me to leave, it was time and my emotional self growth....I believe you emotionally get there, to leave, in your own pace. This song helped me to realize I was not alone in this. We all at one point in our life have difficulty “turning our car around”. But know once you do it you will be rewarded with the ultimate feeling of your personal freedom! ❤️
I dont think this is a relationship song about a girl. I relate this song to a relationship with life. How many times do i stumble and fall on my ass before i turn my shit around? How can i fix the shit that ive fucked up and who is graceful enough to take me in? Thank you Marc and O.A.R. for all that youve done for music, i love you guys so much. You don't know me but your music speaks
Really like this song. Got to see O.A.R. up close and personal at the Sprite Liquid Tour 2003 in Camden, NJ. Stood just a few feet away from the band. Awesome night. Great memories. Thanks for this.
This song was on repeat for me one day in November 2017 and coincidentally it happened when a high school friend died in a car accident on his way to school that morning. Never fails to make me think of him when it comes on.

Perfect song when you come out of depression. Takes time....
SO TRUE
This song brings so much nostalgia. I use to wake up to this song on Vh1/MTV morning music videos before I go to school when I was in 8th grade.
not a million views? This song is immortal -- straight through the heart
6M now
I dont think this is a relationship song about a girl.
It’s about blaming everyone else for your problems but it’s you
Really like this song. Got to see O.A.R. up close and personal at the Sprite Liquid Tour 2003 in Camden, NJ. Stood just a few feet away from the band. Awesome night. Great memories. Thanks for this.
this dude...so easy on the eyes
This song was on repeat for me one day in November 2017 and coincidentally it happened when a high school friend died in a car accident on his way to school that morning. Never fails to make me think of him when it comes on.
Always, ALWAYS makes me cry!!
Thank you @oar !!
@richardon is very SPECIAL!!
Finally, I've been looking for this song for years. I just heard it again for the first time in so long at a mall while looking for a dress for my graduation, there's something strangely fitting about that.
