I’ve met Skylar at a camp for men of the trans experience here in the US it’s been a great experience but man doing hikes sounds even more amazing. You made a great decision choosing Benton. That’s you.
Hey, I know this probably sounds stupid, but I'm a 14 year old trans male and I'm planning on starting my transition on my birthday, I'll be turning 15 but what inspired me to start was you, I just want to thank you for letting me realize that I wasn't alone I couldn't help but to write this because today I had gone to a church and ended up getting held down my two ladies, they kept telling me that I was going to go to hell and I wouldn't be accepted by society, but I could honestly care less about what they said, but for now I'm just glad to have come across your RUclips channel, thank you.
I just wanted to say thank you! You were the first video that I watched after figuring out that my brain and body didn't match. I am now out to my family and have gotten my referral to the gender identity clinic to start my transition.
i literally just rediscovered your channel after about 6 years... back when i was still figuring stuff out aged 14/15 i remember watching your passing tips videos and so on. now i'm 21 and 6 weeks on testosterone and life is good :)
You’re gorgeous! My ex (husband of 12 years) is FTM: I love being able to stay involved with the trans community through social media, like this. I’m a true bi, so I’m GLBT, but being with my ex gave me an appreciation of the real struggle trans people still face. It’s like being gay was in the 1950s, or something. But I am amazed at how far trans people have come, in terms of creating an awareness and acceptance I didn’t think I would see in my lifetime. My ex began his transition in the 1990s (ca. “Boys Don’t Cry”). That movie, and the crime it was based on, really did accurately portray the level of oppression in the 90s.
So glad RUclips randomly decided to notify me about your videos again. Excited to get could back up! PS you were the first RUclips I watched regularly... so many years ago 😅
It's awesome to see you more active on youtube. I pretty much never leave comments, but I feel like the quality of vids you make is super high, and they're really pleasing, interesting and educational too. Your friend Lindsay is funny as and you guys have great energy together. I also relate to your conflicting feelings about discussing your transition... I've been medically transitioning for almost 7 years and am stealth... but for the last year, I've wanted to connect more to the community and am struggling with how to do that. Thank you for your great videos Benton.
Thank you for continuing to share your story. Skylar’s a good name and so is Benton. You’re incredibly beautiful and I appreciate you. Thank you for being you.
so true that being trans gives us more empathy. living the first part of your life as the "wrong" gender for you and ppl never seeing the true you cause your bio gender is blocking the view rly make you meet ppl without putting others in boxes and teaches you how to be strong enough in your belief in yourself to be the one that tells you you're not just crazy to feel this way. it makes us strong and kind if we chose to use it for good. kinda like a superpower ^^
Wonderful, handsome, inspiring man --- thanks for your strength and honesty and sense of humour. You're a shining example of humanity and manhood! Love from Italy
Hey, I am so glad to see you doing well and that you are back on RUclips! Your videos meant a lot to me and helped me so much through the beginning stages of my transition. And I loved the videos you and Lindsay did together, so you two having a channel together is pretty cool!
Thank you for the video! Im 10 days on T now and it feels awesome. And due to your video I have another perspective for future. I only know 2 trans males who are over 6 years on T and this video made me very happy
Thank you! I always learn something from your videos. And as a cis-male, my doctor told me years ago that my elevated T levels [genetic condition] were the cause of my hair loss on top of my head, and excessive hirsutness everywhere else!
man . . . haven’t seen you in so many years, i was in high school when i first saw you. 😂 i’m 20 and i’m still pre T, is it to late for me to start transitioning ?
It's never too late :) you can visit ftm_selfies or transpositive on reddit for some inspiration. I sometimes see people in their 30's, 40s or even 50s on there. Never give up hope 💚
I've personally known people who were in their 50s and 60s before starting to transition. So like everyone else said, never too late. I found connecting with my local trans community, and building a support circle among those who were/are accepting of me was an essential step to getting comfortable and brave enough to pursue transition. Take it all at your own pace. It's your unique life and journey, your body and your gender. No one else can tell you when or the right way. ❤
you are definitely not a skylar. unfortunately i also named myself skylar because of skylar kergil (LOVE that guy but i personally don’t think skylar suits me very well now) and i am now stuck with that name as far as people in my personal life go - although legally i made that my middle name instead
Hey Benton, awesome video :) To add to that long run of probing questions - I wanted to ask whether you have had any issues through transition with disordered eating? That was something that reared its head for me awaiting top surgery and just wondered what your experience has been. No worries if that is a bit private.
I love you . Your video 70 questions, was wonderful. Gave me hope, and confidences. Witch I will need lot of as I take the journey from F 2 M. I only starting out. I start testosterone injections This week, on Tuesday Sept. 15th I will have my first shot. Right now I want to grow facial hair so I can pass as male. Thank you for your video.
I feel the same as living as female and male I know what it’s like to be both in the eyes of society but being stealth when trans can be really stressful I’m stealth at college and it gives me sutch bad anxiety
Amazing! So glad to see you at it again. You’re a real gift and resource to people! I miss living in Vancouver and sad I never knew you lived there until after I left.
West Coast Elements i studied in Vancouver and then moved home to Portland Oregon. I loved it up there. I miss Surrey and my friends out that way. It’s so beautiful. I especially love ur videos for the beauty of Canada.
i've been on Testosterone for now going on 4 years and my voice hasnt really changed and neither has my face like people still call me maam and im like im a sir so how do you deal with it or have you eve dealt with it , and have you gotten bottom surgery already ?
Skylar would have been good pick. I also was thinking of changing my name to Skylar but as months past I saw this other trans guy, who was just alround rad looking...so I chose his name lol.
This is a difficult question, but one that I've seen many people across the lgbtq+/leftytube dialogue struggle to answer or agree on. Trigger warning I know it is a complex and loaded issue, I am merely bisexual goth, my parents were progressive and my changes were merely aesthetic; I never had to be as courageous and honest as many people in this comments section, so apologies if I am clumsy. The question I have is, would you say from your own experiences and from the people that you have met, are there aspects of transitioning from AFAB that are, I guess, easier or less controversial to manage than from AMAB? And what aspects run opposite to that - what do people tend to find more difficult when transitioning to male? I guess it depends on the person, and sometimes the inherited bone structure, obviously, cis -especially white- male privilege still exists in both behavioural and linguistic terms (amongst others), and from what I've seen online and discussed with one of my old friends Nate (who has been on testosterone longer than Benton at this point...wow haven't thought back to our complicated school days in a while haha), it can be easier to keep your head down/blend in as a trans man, whereas some trans women have to own their trans-visibility in a different way. I don't mean to undermine/undersell the challenges faced by anyone, but as our society is stilted against certain groups - some big some minorities - what advantages are you privy to early on? and what advantages are you still excluded from, on whatever side of the Catharine wheel of gender you lie? Understanding fosters love, and dispels hatred. I hope I haven't tread on any toes... I was just wondering if there were any trends or patterns that tend to repeat? I wonder if that might help people feel more prepared at the start of their journey.. to whom I wish the best of luck, it was so so worth it for Nate. Don't rush, but ultimately trust yourself. What do you fear more? Staying as someone who you can't relate to, or finding out who you should be?
I think you should make a video´ 70 questions with the cat of FTM transgender- How I survived Benton´ with Mr. Catzilla himself.... Could be nice!!! P.S Am FTM myself....
Now that you have come out has "often" I would like to come out as "rarely". Thank you very much.
‘What’s your sexuality?’
‘Often’
I’m dead 😂
But same, at least preferably.
Oh no! Don't die, wait a second. The ambulance will be on their way soon!

"How's your hairline doing?" ............We've parted ways. Hahahaha
Yes, doctor, I would like THIS specific brand of testosterone please.
I’ve met Skylar at a camp for men of the trans experience here in the US it’s been a great experience but man doing hikes sounds even more amazing.
You made a great decision choosing Benton. That’s you.
