I like how you feel about the click bait, and all. I think you have a great channel. So maybe as subscribers we need to be more talkative and comment more. So thank you Ed for taking us out with you again, I love the old coins. Have a great week!
Nice finds as usual. Suggestion: Maybe team up with some of the really popular mudlarks (DSofS, Northern Mudlarks, Tideline Art, etc.) Get some exposure in their videos ? We think you videos are right up there with the best of them. Keep up the good work. Suzy
Hey Suzy! Yes some collaborations are in the pipe line but where I have been living has been a bit far away but hopefully once I am moved and settled I will be mixing it up with Nicola and the mudpies 😁
It makes me sad that RUclips, which started out as a really great idea, has been so commercialised that it's all about growth rather than content.😢 I love your channel content, Ed, whether you're bottle digging or metal detecting. 🥰I don't really pay attention to the thumbnail or description. It's the channel name that gets my attention, because I like being a regular viewer. I love your low-key filming style.😍 I once tried to watch a Mr. Beast video, and couldn't stand it. 😬 None of this helps you at all, but I wanted you to know. 😊 I'll see you for the next treasure hunt. 😁❤👍
Aww thanks Noralee, I am not really that bothered about growth, I suppose it is nice but even if I get 500 views on a video that is a huge crowd of people coming along with me which is absolutely amazing 😁 I imagine how big the crowd would be if they were following me around in the field 🤣 click bait isn't for me, it feels so wrong, with this niche it is all about consistency but just wanted to try it to see how the algorithm works. This will be my last vid for a while as I am hopefully moving next week again but will be closer to London so hopefully do some collaborations, it was one of my goals for 2022 so watch this space 😁 see you again soon 👍
Thanks, I had no idea 😁 I miss it too, I am moving next week hopefully so will be closer to London so will hopefully be able to do a bit more of the other stuff other than detecting 👍
Have been a subscriber since you were digging bottles, but I really enjoy your detecting vids the best. So much history, and your preparation before a hunt seems to pay off for you (and your subscribers). Thanks for continuing to make such consistantly good videos. Good luck with your new job, and I look forward to the next video! Cheers from NE Florida!
Thanks, it really means a lot, I just wanted to do an experiment but already cringing about it a bit, I know lots of other channels do it and I just don't watch them any more because of it. I want to do a few collaborations and already have a few in mind and when I move I will be closer to London so hopefully they will be a bit easier to organise 🙂
I just looked up what your channel name means……..Vintage Perfection…….I don’t think you meant the other meaning, Diamond of Quality 100 Carets or More??? Love your channel. Stand on your head and juggle balls with your feet if you need to to get visitors! I share your channel often. Best and best with your move to your new job! SALUTATIONS from Kentucky USA!
I did use a thesaurus when thinking of channel names, not gonna lie 😂😂 I didn't realise it was a brand of China though 😂 I am not that bothered about subs tbh, just more interested in how RUclips works. Hopefully when I move I will be closer to London so will do some collaborations at some point 😁👍
Sorry I posted before I’d finished 🙃. I just wanted to say keep being you, don’t change, we like your low-key style and honest presentation. You have taught me lots about bottles and strange metal squiggly things, thank you Ed. Good luck with the move and it would be so good to see you with Nicola and the Squelch Squad and DSS.
I understand you wanting more subscribers but please don’t change your channel too much Ed, have unsubscribed to so many with click bait thumbnails which have no relation to what is in the video, so possibly not the best route in the long term. Love what you do, started off watching when you were bottle digging. Whatever you do I’ll be watching 😊.
Thanks Alan, I am already cringing about this one so don't think it will be for me, I am too honest I think 😂 I have also lost interest in a lot of channels for it, it is annoying and feels like a waste of time! just more interested to see how the RUclips algorithm works and if some mystery is helpful but I think with this niche consistency is more important 👍 hopefully I am moving next week closer to London and had a few offers for collaborations over the last year so hopefully it will be a bit more doable now 🙂👍
@@VintageParagonUk sorry Ed, just realised, that sounded a bit creepy “I’ll be watching you” 😂. Good luck with the move mate and congrats on the new job.

Yes, I think it is safe to say it doesn't work 😂 I think with this niche it is better to be consistent and keep existing viewers in mind but was interesting to try 👍
@@VintageParagonUk my advice would be to look what the really popular channels are doing such as aquachigger, bondi treasurehunter, dallymyd etc do. They make everything exciting, fast paced n a bit in ya face and full on. What you and I do is not really that exciting to most viewers. If we want to grow we have to change our style. @@TheDukesOfDerbyshire oh I can't be doing with all that excitement, I am far too laid back for that 😂 I just enjoy making videos, I am not going for a career or anything like that so will just do what I want and people can enjoy them if they like. I am hoping to do a few collaborations though, maybe not this year with a moving house but it was one of my goals for the year. I find it interesting to see the analytics so with this video thought it might be interesting to try something different but the content is more important 🙂👍
@@VintageParagonUk I completely understand, that is the way I have been opersting my channel making videos that I would watch myself. But after 3 years doing this and knowing what revenue some people must earn, there is such a temptation for me. I hate my day job, doing this full time and for a living is kinda the dream. I've been thinking about it a lot in recent months. Food for thought 😄
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire yeah not going to lie, a bit of extra revenue would be nice. I think getting involved with other channels will help to grow and find new viewers, I thought about doing a tour one day, going to other RUclipsrs locations or them come to me and do a whole load of joint videos but detecting is kinda solo so not sure how well that would work. You have done some collaborations haven't you? How did those do?
I’m a brand new viewer.. so your experiment must be working 🤣 I also tend to stick my best find from that day on the thumbnail and I’ve often wondered if I need more mystery! All the best, subbed you 😊

Great video Ed, love that George 3 silver, and all the other bits. I'm not sure, I'll love your content all the same and honestly think it's up to you 😄
Thanks Paddy, so far this video hasn't done as well as ones that show the finds so I don't think it really matters. I guess being consistent is the best way but nice to mix it up sometimes 👍
I'm sure that the subs will pick up once we are in autumn proper Ed. In terms of UK-based channels, I tend to filter out those who are purely trying to sell me the latest machine, or are poorly made with none of the atmosphere. I'm not sure how much the thumbnail influences viewing. Personally, I enjoy the handful that I subscribe to because it gives me the chance to take a virtual walk into the fields whilst confined to barracks. I think a 'neutral' thumbnail is useful... e.g., I don't really want to know that nothing better than a crotal bell has been found, because it ruins the expectations of what may be found. Even worse are those videos that over-promise... e.g., "Hoard found", and it turns out to be a Victorian purse spill. Neutral is bast in my opinion... keep the expectations. 👍
You are totally right Brad, I think with this niche it is best to look after current viewers and be consistent and that is the best way to grow. To be honest when I think about how many people already watch my videos it is amazing that so many people keep coming back each time 🤣
