I love this scene showing the Space Jockey. This and the derelict spaceship have such an aura of mystery it kept me wondering for years...Even Now it still works because I won't accept the crummy explanation that was in Prometheus about the Space Jockey. I thought it was Insulting to those of us Alien fans who Love and Respect ALIEN for the genius horror masterpiece that it is.
I really hope they retcon the retcon, so the Engineers found some Space Jockey ships and used the fossilized corpses as suits. The ship and Xenomorph eggs on this ship being untouched.
Lol what exactly did they explain that was insulting? The space jockey is way bigger than the engineers and therefore they are definitelly not the same species. And keep in mind: Ridley Scott made the first Alien as well as Prometheus. What you are saying is: He is insulting himself.
They should have just stopped at the space jockey and beacon and just headed tf out of there. Don't even bother exploring the rest of that ship. It would have saved the Nostromo in general. Nostalgia!
It probably made more Xenomorphs somehow. That’s the only explanation I can think of that would explain all of those Facehugger eggs down below. Where it exactly was at the time they explored the ship here, in this scene, of course no one can say.
Well early drafts of the script stated that it died out of low energy. The acid blood was originally meant to be some sort of battery for the xenos, which is why at the end of alien the xeno looked weak. But then aliens retcons this since they can survive for weeks.
I remember being a boy, back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, seeing this movie series for the first time. The first film and second films really creeped me tf out. Along with 3 and especially Resurrection. Pretty much the first four films, before Isolation and especially Romulus coming out, during the Scott and Cameron era of filming with Weaver at the center were the goated era of the series. I just watched Romulus when it came out, and now I'm about to complete Isolation. Nostalgia!
I agree with all the comments, the feeling of something 'unimaginably distant and incomprehensible' has not been replicated by any other film When I saw it, i was left with the idea that the space jockey was a member of an ancient civilization that developed its technology towards biotechnology, and the whole ship and the eggs were bioengineered and grown from living tissue to a dead structure, the sells died like in nails or hair and surface skin, and the pilot is kind of part of the whole ship and the facehuggers were a bioweapon. Far more interesting for me personally than the stuff i saw in the prequels. They 'anthropomorphised' the whole thing
Can anybody who has read all the lore, read the comics, played the games, etc. care to explain what the source of light inside the cockpit supposed to be or could be? I have always wondered where the light could be coming from given that from the outside the ship doesn't seem to have any transparent windows as such.
You know if you look at the concept art of the Space Jockey, you can see a forcefeild around the helmet. Now whats interesting about this―and I didnt realize untill now―is that [Spoiler Alert] in the Superman movie Man of Steel, the design of the kryptonion architectures and technology seems to bear almost a similar resemblence to HR Giger's style, having the organic phallic look and everything; Even General Zod and his insurgants wore armor that looks similar to the space jockey/engineer biosuits, with headwear looking like the helments, bearing a mouthpeice that looked like the space jockey's weird trunk tube thing and generated a forcefield around their heads, much like in the Space Jockey concept art. Now this could be a tribute to that art or maybe just some ironic coincidence.
This unknown fossilized Extraterrestrial (not "a space jockey" nor "an engineer") as well as its ship, for me personally, will forever remain a relic of an uncomprehensible Extraterrestrial civilization from deep space, extinct aeons ago. As well as the origin of its terrifying cargo, the nature of the relationship of these parasitoid creatures to their highly advanced masters. Alien to me first and foremost a stand alone film. Sequels and prequels are fun of course, but if we talk seriously, Alien never needed any sequel.
Over 40 years and this film has withstood the test of time. An absolute sci-fi-horror masterpiece.
Back when they were wiling to do crazy sci fi films.
Remember predator? 2001 a space odyssey. Planet of the apes.
Hell, even The One!
4K makes it easier to spot Ridley Scott's kids in the spacesuits when they are inside the cockpit of the derelict ship.
The music score is also a masterpiece.

i am 100% with you on this

Exactly, after Aliens I pretend the story arc is complete and that all other movies after that are just a bad dream!!😂
@@novelty8theory494 You'll ignore all coming up movies?
I like how a concept of horror in space is made, especially with extraterrestrials as the slashers or victims of the killer.
One of the greatest movies ever made.
2:34 - 2:49 That music always gives me the chills. I also like how Alien (1979) ties into Promethus (2012).

You ever wondered what happened to the Xeno that burst out the Engineer? 🤔
All the time 😊

@@TheTechCguy Could have simply been out hunting. Could have went into hibernation. Or perhaps dead.

The initial drafts for what became Prometheus was going to answer that.

Thank you for being an active part of this channel Buddy 🙂
Mine too.
I'm genuinely thrilled you noticed 😊

There is a small black "eye" looking thing on the top of the ship.
@elliottlava7784 ooh that must be it. I am gonna have to take a look at the ship once again. Thanks!

underrated score
We can see that the space jokey was screaming while dying !
Lets get the hell out of here was the best idea 😂😂

Someone once told me the Jockey died whilst on the toilet. And now I can't unsee it.
That was the real ALIEN
The Alien which bursted from the Extraterrestrial pilot probably got killed in the crash, and that's how we got that hole it burned with its acid.
I do love the backstory of the engineers
Can someone tell me who's who?
