Popular band "Leonid & Friends" takes over Salt Lake City with mesmerizing performance

- As FOX 13 News has reported in the past, the music we grow up listening to really becomes a part of us.
Such is the case with Leonid Vorobyev, who was born in Russia and grew up listening to classic American rock and roll. He fell in love with the music of Chicago and formed a band with some of the finest musicians in Russia, Ukraine and elsewhere that some say has become the best cover band in the world.

I just recently discovered Leonid and Friends when they popped up in my RUclips feed, And was an instant fan from the first listen. I grew up with Chicago mixed into the soundtrack of my childhood in the 70s and 80s, but never really appreciated their music at the time. Hearing L&F's performance of Make Me Smile brought back a flood of great childhood memories, and the musicianship and raw talent just had me awestruck as a musician myself. I have a whole new appreciation for the original Chicago, as well as L&F. I got tickets a few weeks ago to see them live here in California this Saturday. Cant wait!
Update: I saw them on 11/18/23. Amazing show. The 3 hour set was too short. My wife and I have a new saying around the house, If you’re going to do something, do it with Oleg energy 😂. To my amazement, I got a shout out from the stage (presumably in recognition of the post above) along with some notable people in the audience that night.

I love this !!!! My wife and I have seen Leonid & Friends 3 times now. We can't wait for the next time. They play an intimate theatre here in Clearwater, and I hope they continue to have us as one of their tour stops. Amazing musicianship, very powerful band.

L&F are simply great musicians! Everything they play is superb. Branched out into other popular groups too. Catch the female singer, Ksenia Buzina, on YT songs, (Carpenters) "Superstar",; "Yebba"; "Never Felt This Way"; and Michael's "I Love You More Than You Will Ever Know"....incidentally,, Ksenia speaks 7 language, degree in Economics!❤💥👍

Been a strong followed of Leonid & Friends since 2017. I do miss Sergey Kashirin (ex-member), probably one of the best lead guitarists on the planet. I love what you said at the end!

I discovered Leonid & Friends on RUclips a few months ago. Their studio recorded covers of EW&F and other groups are just fantastic. It’s a shame they can’t tour Europe at the moment due to the Ukraine conflict. I feel sure they’d be a global sensation. The best cover band in the World IMHO.
CORRECTION : Leonid and Friends is not a cover band. They DO NOT do covers of Chicago, they do EXACT REPLICAS of Chicago, note for note beat for beat nuance for nuance.

Please explain the hardships of growing up in the Soviet Union, in which American rock music was banned. Bootleg records, "albums" recorded on discarded x-ray film, they had to make their own guitars bcs none were available. Leonid REALLY loves music!

These guys are better than the original (sorry Chicago)…….
Better sound quality, better isolation and separation of each instrument, better mix, better recording technology and overall a more polished rendition of the music. But nothing can ever take away from Chicago actually creating masterpieces from nothing.
Rather than listen to ANY of Chicago’s music , I would rather stuff my ears full of faecal matter. So it’s a no from me. Sorry.
