Brilliant band first saw them Aug 1979 supporting Adam and the Ants in London, Shame they agreed to play FARCE Fest again remember no rebellion at rebellion Angelic Upstarts always Anti Facist / Anti Nazi Socialist Punk band all the way.
But what is with the Song: Lonely man of Spandau? Was that an Antifascistsong? Let him go...
@@MrElstick It is an humanist song, not a nazi song. It's about the irrational efforts to keep an old, and then inoffensive, man in prison. They kept an entire prison just to one man. When he died, some years after the Upstarts released the song, the prison was destroyed.
@@nenomengo i know the Story about, but why must He Made a Song about that fashist pig?? There are more old men in prisons around the world they sit in For Other political reasons.
@@MrElstick Probably that was a case discussed in the media. The song is not about the nazi, it's about prison, and keeping an entire prison just for one old man. But ok, I understand your point and it is a song prone do be taken as a defense of a nazi.
