- Come for the tutorial, stay for Ai upscaled Yoshi. Skip the first chapter if you already have a modded 3ds. I've talked about this patch so many times in the past, but I've never explained how to use it and some were asking so now this tutorial exists, hope it helps!

How to play SM64 DS with analog stick, how to, play, Super Mario 64 DS, Analog, 360 degree, joystick, circle pad, circle, pad
Here’s an updated tutorial: ruclips.net/video/rPupGMNYfow/видео.htmlsi=hsKyellvGmOA7FV_
Does this work for emulators??
this'll make 64DS the perfect 3D mario game it was always meant to be
Thank you for the Mother 3 soundtrack
It doesn't unfortunately
The game's physics are still clunky but is not too bad, the analog mod makes the game easier
now we just need a mod to fix the artstyle to make it look like sm64's style
THIS MOD MAKES THE GAME THE BEST VERSION OF 64 DS MAN
it makes the game the best version of sm64 in general
Thanks it worked. Also just wanted to say i'm happy I found your channel. I really like these small 3ds and wii u channels. I subscribed since the first video I watched on your channel.
how do I merge the new usercheat and the current one without overwriting everything
Really appreciate this vid! Would be nice to see more gameplay of these patches, esp the Metroid Prime Hunters patch.
I had all all other parts down except for activating the cheat in the Twilight Menu which this cleared up for me, thanks.
When i have the cheat on and I open the game, It just gives me a while screen
Thank you!! I have been wondering how to do this and this tutorial made it a lot easier.
Glad to hear it helped!
Thanks, man! Great and simple video! Subscribed!
Interesting. I've been playing with this for a bit, and while it does solve some of the issues, it definitely gets to the ceiling of the physics being the main issue.
God, we needed this
thank you so much for your help! I've always wanted to play 64 like this :)
My heart knows some day, sooner or later, Nintendo will officialy release a SM64 (probably DS) remaster and that day I'll cry
is there a way to force the patch onto a physical copy of SM64DS? every guide ive seen involves launching the rom from TwilightMenu
With a modded 3ds you can dump your ds game file and put it into the twilight folder but i don't think there is a way to do it on a physical copy
is there a way to get this working with an actual cartridge?
is there a specific region or game version necessary to make the patch work, or does it not matter?
still don't know, but i used a us v1.1 copy and it worked just fine
brooo this is so good
If i have the action replay database app installed via universal updater which creates a cht fil in the extras folder by default, do i have to delete that one for this circlepad one to work? ive tried the patcher app r4cce and using like 5 different patches only for NONE of them to work and it to just give me basic action replay codes on the twilight cheat menu like "P R E S S U P F O R 1 0 0 C O I N S" instead of the circle pad thing and i feel like i'm losing my marbles
Are the slight visual glitches in the patched games normal?
Appreciate the guide.
tried on 3ds had the right code but had a white screen idk what to do.
Is there any way to integrate the stick chest with other cheats?
how about not using Twm++? Is there a way for an legit copy or r4 card
This tutorial rules thank you. I was able to get it to work great, but almost had a slip up trying to find the original .dat file in the tutorial at 3:10 that seemed to be removed (Shoco stating .dat and cheats are no longer required due to a newer/better method using xdelta version of the patch?) but I couldn't figure out how to follow that new method... so I just looked for the .dat file from a different uploader in the thread and followed the rest of this tutorial as normal and it worked perfect. I'm hyped to play with the epic controls
Yeah unfortunately this tutorial is a bit out of date, so I plan on updating it real soon and making a written one since the original thread is still kinda unclear and a written guide with simple steps would be easy to update. Thanks for pointing that out though, the xdelta version of the patch, last I saw, doesn’t work with the other games only Mario 64 DS so I’d still go about it through Twilight Menu++ (Albeit I’m a bit biased since I like Twilight Menu’s theming).
So I did the hack and got it working but now I get static-like effect with any sound, anyone else have this. I did patch in widescreen support as well.
Any way to put that cheat code in that file without a pc?? Using fbi or godmode? Or will that it apply but erase the original database?
does this work if I have a physical copy of sm64ds?
fucking legend man, now THIS is the best version of mario 64 hands down. i grew up playing sm64ds as a kid and could only get 131 stars… in 2 YEARS
i was thinking of playing this game but now i have no reason not to, TYSM
Great to hear! It is a fun time.
Do you know if you can do this using NTRLoader rather than having to load from the TwiiLight menu?
Not to my knowledge, no.
Any way to add the game to the main menu?
Does this method by any chance work with an original cartridge?
This tutorial works for all circle pad patches by the way!
What if you have a New 3DS with the c-stick (nub)?
@@vashranoid analog movement to an unmoveable nub ??? lmao why would u want the nub for movement regardless
@@HotDominicanDadthe nub is for camera control which is great, well a real 2nd pad would have been better, but the nob is still an improvement over the og 3ds
Thank you so much for this video!
I actually had this mod already installed and working so well, but by the time I got the 50th star, buth the ZR/ZL camera controls and the analog touch were going crazy, just spining to the left without any input from me
After watching this video, I realizaed somehow my Luma (?) Settings were changed and disabled Game Patching and External Firms/Modules, in case anyone else suffers from it
Can you patch the game for emulators ?
Does this work with SM64DS rom hacks?
I'm having white screen even though I did tye trouble shooting so now I'm up to the point of asking for help
How do I combine the cheats I have with that file?
Wait…so…this only works on….new 3Ds xl?
It's strange that after some time time I tried to load the game again and it doesn't load, the solution was that I have to re select enable game patching and enable loading external firms 😢
Does this work if I have the Ds game installed not using twightlight menu but nds forwarder? Like the ds game is shown on the 3ds home screen?
Good question, I was also gonna ask this.
@@roflBeck He never bothered to even say no....
@resean2727 @roflBeck @resean2727 - Yes! I followed his steps using Twilight Menu, but afterward went into the Homebrew Channel, forwarded the .nds rom like normal, and the cheats still apply when launching from the home screen.
Is that working on DS emu on android ?
The graphics on DS still impress me to this day
ah yes, one of those kids living in the cave and never seeing PSP in their lifetime, let alone GTA Vice City Stories or GoW Chains of Olympus. I say it as an owner of two DS (DSi + DSi XL) consoles btw. It's just that comments like yours are so cringy, and at the same time they show the mentality of Nintendo fanboys, who would worship Nintendo even for crapping at them.
@@kacperzimowski4626 psp is a joke xD
@@kacperzimowski4626bros still mad his psp flopped lmao
@@kacperzimowski4626 Stylization ages better than Realism, you know
@@kacperzimowski4626 who ruined your day, 8 days ago? You really are so bored and have nothing better to do, that you make stupid comments like that
Right on 3:09 there is a super jarring cut, Idk how you got to the page qith the ton of downloads. I cant find it
Oh mb, you just have to scroll down a bit and hit the spoiler button.
@@SuperAwesomeGuyhow do i keep the existing userdat file i already have on my 3ds
i keep getting stuck at a white screen after i activate the cheat. the game works before i activate it. then works after i deactivate it.
The GBA temp thread got updated and the usercheat.dat file did as well. Imma post an updated video later tonight or early tomorrow depending on “current events” but for now check if you got the right region and have rtcom, game patching, and loading external firms enabled in TWPatcher and the Twilight menu.
10/10
Hello, ¿This work on a r4 or just work into a twl menu rom?
Oh my God he has a white 3DS. I've never actually seen one in the wild lol.
Fun fact: the ice white 3ds models haven’t been ported to the US. (I imported and region changed this 3ds two years ago for ~60$ and it’s been great.) I prefer the white models since they’re more resistant to fingerprints and hide scratches a lot better. Baffling as to why Nintendo never brought them over to the US.
@@SuperAwesomeGuyOut of curiosity, is it Ice White or Pearl White?
@@christiangomez2496 It's the ice white version, pearl white has been ported to the US as I recently found out but the old ice white version hasn't.
@@SuperAwesomeGuy I just got an Ice White system as well, but pearl white made it to North America?
@@christiangomez2496 I believe so, yeah. I think the pearl white models are XLs and non-standard.
is it really needed to the rom to come from a legally obtained copy
Only for legal reasons
Ah yes thx
Is this possible to use the patch while playing off the cartridge?
just dump the cart with godmode9 and patch the rom you get from it
@@razvanneacsu525I know, that’s how I got my rom, but I’m wondering if I can use the cart itself so it feels less like emulation and more like it was meant to be
@@walkwe2791 in that case no, the patch only works for twmenu. also, it's not emulation. it uses the same tech as inserting a ds cartridge, if it makes you feel better
@@razvanneacsu525 well, yeah, I knew the not emulation part, but it just feels like emulation
Is there any way to set this up on a computer emulator? I'd love to set this up on a Steam Deck, for example.
github.com/LRFLEW/AM64DS_DeSmuME
This might be what you’re looking for. I haven’t tried it nor do I know if DeSmuME works on steam deck, but it’s probably worth a shot.
@@SuperAwesomeGuy nah, I knew about that. I meant these codes specifically, since I only heard people using them on 3DS's. But thanks anyway ig.
Is it working with physical copy of the game?
if you can do that hack you have a modded 3ds, so you can just dump the game
where are you superguy we miss you
I scrolled down and found mod.zip is that when I’m supposed to download?
Yes it's just all of the Circle Pad Patch folders put in one big folder
@@redyyz4489 thanks I already kind of figured it out by now 😅
This is a good tutorial, but "ensure region is correct" which one?
Yeah I meant to make sure the rom region and the patch region match up, I should’ve specified my bad.
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!
Can I do this using my normal copy of the game or do I need the rom to get it working?
I mean, if you have the cartridge you can just use Godmode to generate a rom.
When i start the game with the cpad cheat enable, the game freezes with an white screen pls help
Enable enable firms and modules in Luma. Hold select and press the power button to access the menu then press start to save.
@@realthemariogamerThanks.
i got this working finally i had to switch the region of game from default to usa. it wa working fine until i updated luma to latest version because of nintendo bricking update!! updated my 3ds now when i enable loading external firms and modules + enable game patching my 3ds boots to "an exception occurred" exception type: data abort, fault status: translation - section. one thing that worked for me is to deselect game patching and keep external modules loading on, but gameplay is buggy not like it was before with both options enabled!! also when playing standard 3ds games with patches would have to flip flop between settings (a pain in the a**). So something obviously went wrong when i updated and im kinda bumbed out since when it was working i was having a blast playing the game with analog controls!!
There's an easier way to do this, you do everything on here except that you patch the game using an XDelta instead of modifying the usrcht dat. The XDeltas are linked in the same thread as the one you provided.
TWPatcher doesn't even install. I try both the .cia and the .3dsx.
Ah I’ll have to look into this, a lot of people lately have been having issues with this tutorial so I’ll probably redo it and make a written one so I can keep it up to date easier.
@@SuperAwesomeGuyyes plz make it happen cuz it appears that this tutorial is outdated
Does this patch remove having to use the run button? Thank you
Yes, no need to press the button. You can control the speed with the joystick just like in any modern 3d game
@@ChocolateMr Really? How do you do it? I enabled the hack and he just walks faster when I push the stick all the way?
@@IceBlueLugiaMove the stick slowly (not pushing it all the way also helps) to move slower
@@SecretRadio Right I know, but it’s not like you can run at top speed by pushing the stick all the way, like in the original game. If you do that, he just walks quickly, he doesn’t run. I downloaded the old patch so maybe it’s been updated, but it doesn’t look like it
i dont have my 3ds modded but i have a r4 with sm64 ds, and i use the circle pad to move, you dont need to mod it i think
it’s not for moving, the ds version only lets you move in 8 directions but this mod allows 360° movement
@@matthew7950 ohh, yeah, i knew it was just 8 directions but i though this meant to be something like that, i got pretty confused, but ty anyway :D
@@matthew7950 yep, i meant to say the circle pad made 8-direction-moving easier lol
could this hack theoretically work using an action replay ds
I dont even own a DS, but still pretty good video!
Thanks!
Cool
Can i use this in Citra?
There's a custom ds emulator build made to map a controller's analog stick for mario64 DS, no need for citra
@Neutopion-st5kr Desmume (emulator) with toxinput (emulator mod)
I played a bit of the game with a patch on the Wii U and it's way better
Does anyone have the all characters can wall jump code/patch?
You can just add that patch in if you really want it.
So only 3ds huh? Damn, i wanted to use melonds not citra...
Stuck on white screen
same here
I had the same thing, you have to enable firms and modules in Luma. Hold select when turning on your system if you don't know how to access Luma configuration
@@IceBlueLugia Thanks bro
@@realthemariogamer Np!
with this hack sm64ds is def the better version
only thing that sucks that you have to change chars in the one room
ignoring that flaw, sm64ds is better in any kind over the original
This Pleases The Boy In Me
I modded my 3ds with a video guide that is new
you are a fucking super hero!
damn bro your mic sounda like youre from 2008😭🙏
6:36 a yoder playing as a yoshi?!?!?!?!
I will do this at my grandmas
apples
Too much shit just to control a character with the stick.
The Circle Pad is a cheap imitation of what a real joystick is, it's a shame that Nintendo continues to make such lousy and poor hardware. It's a shame because Mario is a great game... 😒
the gbatempt page now just has a mods.zip with different folders inside and it has the usrcheat.dat per game, but I'm seeing that the SM64 folder also has a txt file for what seems to be every version of the game, what should I do with that?
maybe to late but just ignore the files and go just for the usrcheat dat
Anybody know how to get the widescreen patch to work? Whenever I enable it, it just doesn’t work. Also is there any way to make the game less pixelated?
3ds resolution is barely twice the resolution of a nds so i don’t think you can make it less pixelated on real hardware, atleast not much
use a nds emulator if you want a higher resolution
