Today I’m taking one of the world’s most luxurious cruises for 5 days across the Caribbean. This is the long awaited Ritz Carlton Yacht, Evrima. Scheduled to launch in 2020, this was pushed back around 8 times until finally last October she was launched. I’ve experienced a few luxury cruises now, but this was different. With far fewer passengers, the level of staffing should be an unparalleled experience onboard.
I'll show you the entire experience from boarding in Florida, touring my suite along with the most luxurious "Owners Suite" onboard. We'll check out the dining, explore the marina and fully emerce ourselves in the world of Ritz Carlton.
Unfortunately today’s ultra luxury cruise wasn’t quite as seamless as I’d hoped. In this video I’ll be breaking down exactly what happened and if I think you should try it for yourself. As always, I remain unbiased and honest in my reviews, this is no exception.

Forget everything else. I cannot begin to explain how not acceptable a safety line 'breaking' is. In reality I'd imagine it just wasn't tied off properly but to give you some context regarding that....
....Instant dismissal would not be an OTT outcome in such circumstances. IF the rope broke then it goes even further. An immediate ( or as soon as reasonably practical) audit of ALL ropes, lines and other safety gear would be required with serious legal & criminal potential consequences for crew, officers, management and suppliers.
You know how when you, say wall climb & you have the safety rope. You know how if someone falls 50ft & seriously injuries themselves then people get sacked, sued & possibly convictions are handed down. Yeah if a judgement is made that it is unsafe and/or risk to life to not use said safety equipment then that equipment isn't used properly/ fails then it's NEVER ok. Whether those lovely two were young and fit enough for it not to be an issue is NOT THE ISSUE. Whether there was a rescue tender on standby ( not that I saw one but you'd hope there was if it was assessed so rough/ strong currents that tether ropes were required but who knows based on this), Irrelevant.
Shit service is one thing. deploying gear which isn't fit for purpose or allowing inadequately trained crew to undertake tasks which have the potential to endanger guests lives is a very different game.

Wow, great review. This would be abysmal service on any cruise line, but on a Four Seasons yacht it's absolutely unacceptable. At those prices, everything (including hot tubs) should work, a drink should be obtainable from every seat in the house in under 5 minutes, and a 15 minute wait for a menu should embarrass the crew and crew leader. If I'd payed $10K/p for this voyage, I would be furious. Thanks for keeping it honest!

I am writing this from my suite aboard celebrity Apex in the retreat and the differences in the service levels (and even the food) are substantial. The more intimate retreat/haven spaces aboard the newest mainline ships will give the luxury players are run for their money and they need to step it up.

Excellent, honest review -- it's always fun to feel like we're tagging along with you! 🙂 As for this Ritz Carlton experience, it seems rather lacking in ambience, charm, and service for the exorbitant price. It feels like a cross between a luxury high-rise apartment building (with all the nicely appointed, yet empty common areas) and the vast, sterility of Equinox Sports Club LA. Lastly, I was shocked that I could literally SEE how dry and stringy that chicken was -- for that to translate onto the screen, it must have been absolutely inedible in person! 😅

Another stellar video complete with the good, the bad and the ugly - EXACTLY what we've come to expect from your content. I'm truly sorry you had so many issues, while there are always going to be little things here and there, the sheer amount of failings (especially when you consider the cost and alleged "luxury" classification) are unacceptable. 😕 At ~ $1000 per night, you should have wanted for nothing. And how is a concierge "unable to find you" on a ship that tracks you when you board, when you enter your room, when you reserve a table and when you disembark/re-embark for land excursions? Personally I despise obvious lies and flimsy excuses and would prefer people just be honest. A "Hello, I'm so sorry I didn't get to you yesterday, but I have 200+ people and no help" would be preferable to "Um sorry couldn't find ya."
Anyway, keep up the great work and here's hoping your next trip is better. ✈🚢🚓

Honestly - in my experience, this is typical of Marriott. Lots of flash, but when it comes down to it, they are always hesitant to pull out the cash. They will stretch service personnel to their absolute limits before hiring more people. I would have thought that Ritz Carlton would have more investment, especially since it is such a new and high-end project, but when you were having service issues, I was not surprised. I worked for Marriott and Marriott Vacations Worldwide and they are all about over promising and under delivering.

I don’t understand the understaffing, especially for sure a luxury cruise line, no matter the age. We all know there are bazillions of staff members on cruise ships across the world. You’d think any and all of them would love to work on such a classy cruise ship with upper class guests, as long as they’re being paid a bit more than they are on crappy cruise lines, with sometimes annoying and crass cruisers. This seems like a no brainer if the cruise line pays more (since they charge more) and since the cruisers can probably afford to tip more than most other cruise lines. Something must be wrong if experienced cruise workers aren’t jumping at the chance to work on this ship.

So app not working, concierge “not finding you”, broken hot tub, poor service on the sun deck, poor service in one of the restaurants, wrong orders at same restaurant, food poor at said restaurant…almost $10,000. That’s an unacceptable amount of issues for that price. But the 1% are gonna 1%, stuff like this ain’t for the majority of us peasants.

I enjoyed coming along with you and the ever lovely Mille indeed. I liked this ship but, for the price, even discounted I would not have been pleased with all that was lacking. I would've expected better. If they were more up to par I think I'd actually prefer this one over Virgin because for me Virgin was just too busy for me with too many choices and areas. I am super excited to see your Alaskan Cruise coming up sometime this year with your folks. That's going to be fun.

I did the P&O cruise in the Caribbean. It went to 9 countries in 14 nights, absolutely loved it. For me, being on the boat is there to fill the in-between voids to chill, but when hitting the Islands, straight out in the morning and 25k+ steps to see as much as possible.

Thank you for the entertaining and informative report. We're contemplating a cruise and the style and size of this one appeals. However the price and service / amenities failings would certainly put us off.
I assume the cabin is 67sqm in size rather than 67sqft as mentioned - if not, larger cabins would be available in solitary confinement! 🙂
To aid future reports, I'd certainly recommend taking a qualification with WSET.

I heard, while aboard another small ship in the Caribbean over the Christmas holidays, that Ritz Carlton recruited their staff from their hotels and not from season cruising staff. The talk among cruise ship staff (and they DO talk to each other!) was that Ritz Carlton had no clue how to run their "floating hotel."
