U need alot of specialty gear and P ias jewels and charms and all that shit. it will never be the best boss farmer but clearing screens, bowazon is still a ton of fun. in short, what i mean is. Its really expensive to create a " mediocre" competitive char. if that makes sense xD

Even if Schaefer could roll ethereal due to the lack of Indestructible mod it still won't be very good. The base ED on the weapon is very low; its DPS is saved by the fact that it has a large +max damage... which does not benefit from being ethereal.

Wow I must of gotten super lucky back in the day then. I remember I had 3 of them on me when I didn't even have one part of tals armor at the time. I was just farming mepo with a bunch of socketed armor with P topaz's in them.
@@crazyblood.3633 Meph has TC 78, the only act boss that can drop it is Baal. It can only drop from TC87 monsters outside of that. Meph has TC78, Diablo TC84, Baal TC87. I actually don't believe an ethereal Schaefer's Hammer is possible? Since the item spawns with the Industructible mod, it can't spawn as Eth. Only select items can do this, such as Ghostspike which always spawn as Eth + Industructible. Kind of a weird mechanic but I remember that back in the day, so you can cross that one off the list! I thought the same thing....if it COULD spawn eth it would have WRECKED in .09 and we wouldnt have had such hard-ons for 3 socket cruels and eth 2os cruels 👍 Hell even now eth shaefers would hold some ground, even against edc.
I suspect the extra skill point to traps is more valuable that +2 all skills. And trapsins also have access to Fade and are ranged, diminishing the need for resistance from items.
Back in the day my buddy did some mf runs at my house and found a perfect 2os 30res 15dr coa. He had no idea how crazy it was that he found it cuz he was a casual d2 player. I was freaking out haha

Ah , the big prove it question. I don't need proof to know how things work. I am middle aged, have seen and used maphack, mephibot, Pindlebot on the original D2 ... not realising it destroys games. I was ignorant back then. I did however do hundreds of runs manualy and also know how it feels after a hundred runs. To be able to do 50000!!! would either mean you absolutely haven't got a life or are braindead .. or both! I dont have proof you were botting , but then again you dont have proof you wern't either. How does one count 50000 runs? There are scripts that counts the runs for you, not sure if you watch any diablo 2 streamer, but there are streamers using these kind of scripts that counts and displays the number of runs for you.

hey. Would any of you guys agree if the tune-up D2R drops just a bit? Like 50k Pindle runs and not a single SOJ or a lot of other items is WAYY too ridiculous to me. I've heard Dbrunski himself saying he has never found x or y Items in his ENTIRE D2 career. I feel like that drop system is a little outdated. I'm just asking for a slight tune-up.
That's what the online private sales are for ... unfortunately.. but I agree with you 1000 times over....more so since a lot of the player base has a life outside of gaming now after 20 years

True, but it’s players 1 and he only killed Pindle not his minions. People sleep on the minions but if u want more high runes you should run with a sorc or a javazon and clear every monster in there and do it on players 7-8.
@@Manzanedo87 the runs with the barb are probably about 10 seconds tops. Assuming that 50k runs would take about 140-150 hours. Sounds crazy but for what he got that’s not bad at all. That’s why people like pindle.

3x ohm is extremely lucky, I had a pindle bot hat did way over 10 million runs, like 20 years ago and it found 3x ohm total, unless there was a massive drop chance buff since then

Why is the players difficulty setting relevant for high rune drops? I've heard on another video that magic find does NOT improve the chances of dropping high runes and since all the players setting does is increase exp gain and magic find %, isn't it irrelevant for high rune drops?
Iirc there are significantly less chances of monster rolling "no drop" on death, hence "higher" chances of rune drops from the minions around pindle in this case
As Karnnakz2 says, the player count affects the chances for a monster to roll "no drop". Each mob has a different chance of this and some monsters are capped earlier than others e.g Baal and Diablo cap at players 3, Meffy at 5. But Pindle specifically is a super unique therefore his drops are entirely unaffected by player count as they always drop 2 items. That being said, his minions (Only if killing them) are affected. And no, player count does not increase MF, it is just "No drop" that is affected - Only way to change MF is your own gear/charms or mercs MF (If they get killing blow, it adds their MF and yours together).
Number of players affects the chance that a monster will drop nothing. Various types of monsters (normal, bosses, act bosses) have different chances of no drop. So more players = more items dropped, especially for normal monsters. For bosses the no drop chance gets pretty small even at p3, so usually there's no point of going higher. And some of those dropped items could potentially be runes. MFs doesn't affect rune drop chance at all. However, while the higher player settings yield more items per monster, it may not be true in terms of items/time, it requires a specific optimization for each character and area. Also /player x command adds 'external' players, which are worth only 50% of what a partied player in the vicinity of 2-3 screens would be worth.
Long story short, karnnakz2 and Thegiggleofsteel are correct. Just think of it this way: Player count increases the AMOUNT of items drops (By decreasing the chance of enemy not dropping anything % "no drops") and Magic Find increases the likely-hood of those items being magic/unique/set. It's pretty easy to wrap your head around, just think of "% chance to drop an item" for /Players settings, then think of "% chance of dropped item being magic" for Magic Find %.
Correct! indestructable items can't roll ethereal with the exception of Ethereal Edge, Ghostflame, Shadowkiller and Ghostflight which always roll ethereal. There are no ethereal phase blades in the game for this reason.

You *always* get diminishing returns for unique drop odds, regardless of the amount of MF: 25 MF = +22% unique chance (0.88 ratio) 50 MF = +41% unique chance (0.82 ratio) The dropoff as you go into mid-hundreds is not as significant as the consensus of "400% MF = best" leads to believe: 400 MF = +153% unique chance (extra 8% chance over 350 MF) 450 MF = +160% unique chance (extra 7% chance over 400 MF) 500 MF = +166% unique chance (extra 6% chance over 450 MF) 550 MF = +171% unique chance (extra 5% chance over 500 MF) It's just that at 400-450 MF, you start trading off substantial amounts of damage and survivability for magic find. Going as high as 700% and over if you're farming /players 1 and it doesn't hurt your clear speed is still worth it.

Technically you could still do holy grail stuff or these mass identifications by using the shared chest to distribute stuff onto multiple characters... Unless there's a limit on how many characters you will be able to create, I guess?
With a new era of D2 arriving hopefully a new generation of modders will take over from where Plugy left off. From what I hear Blizzard does allow singleplayer modding and I've already seen a few D2R mods around, one mod in particular even looks like Plugy's successor. It features bigger inventory and more stash slots among other things.
How can people do that many runs, aren't you getting crazy doing this boss over and over and over and over again? For instance, I did about 50 Meph-Runs a day last week and on bad days just 20, and I felt I couldn't do more, because doing this stuff so many times in a row felt so boring. Does anyone remember the Bugged crown ???? you wear the crown, and then everytime you pressed W to switch weapons, it gave you a +1 to skills, and it restarted everytime you exited a game. i use to make my skills lvl 100..... it was on battle net. not the cheated one. there was a bugged tal armor too.... :D :D
I had the -32 dex ammy, this was during 1.09 that the bug existed, you also had to have + skill grand charm per tree to up your skills everytime you pressed W for weapon switch.
So if a run is about 5 minutes long... x 10 runs per hour = 50 runs per hour x 8 hours is 400 runs per day. 50,000 divided by 400 = 125 days. 125 days divided by 30 days in a month equates to 4.16 or just over 4 months and just under a week. This is a very loose estimate. Just factoring in human breaks such as sleep, bathroom, meals and etc. I based 8 hour runs to be the same as a full time job with actual breaks factored in at 10 minute breaks per hour, which sounds reasonable, so you can do multiple runs back to back and bunch up the breaks to however you see fit. Hope that helps. Still a crazy run regardless on how they did it.
I used to take 30s but if you gear and prepare well, I guess it can be something like 20s. So it can be something like 3 runs per minute would be something like 278 hours, or 417 if you consider 30s per run.
why not play diablo 2 resurrected now? Or have you switched since this video? This is my first video I've watched of yours so I dont know I get it if you want to keep to the original. But d2r looks visually way better but I know that's not everything about a game.
Were those 50k runs were done legitimately, or just "planned"? It's easy to think a bot was used to farm this much. I'd become kind of insane if I went that far.
Super bummed PlugY won't be supported for D2R. I love these types of videos and I can't go back to playing single player without the unlimited stash/shared stash PlugY gives us. I really, really hope someone figures out a way in D2R, I'm not done with my holy grail and I'd love to continue it over on D2R.
This week has been so crazy for me. Monday i found Arachnids Mesh from Baal with my Amazon, Tuesday my second Griffons (-17+11), yesterday my first ever Death's Fathom (24cold, 38lightning, 33fire), High Lords and a Sepents Lord, which I was missing for my grail. Most of it by Pindle farming with the babarian.
I think I'll stick with my theory-crafting in hero editor. I could make real cash for all that time 'farming' (or rather my time is being farmed away from me). Rules upon thyself before editing: physically complete all three difficulties solo until at least level 80. Anything that drops can be edited to be perfect after that. There; done. Re-playing a character is for funsies. My necros that get +14 from gear/skill on all can make a 1 point wonder skeleton force with my bone and poison necros... Those are my only two I've pushed past 95 in D2:R. My next is going to be a 'summoning' sorceress with charges gear.

Hard to make an endgame bowzon in single player without it. Buriza and hellcast only get ya so far. Wind force is impossible to find and the HRs are so few and far between it would take months of farming to make faith.

Plus daggers have low dura and this is indestructible so no repair, that’s huge. It’s super valuable to offline players and versatile. Don’t forget it’s got a high base attack speed
I've played a lot of PD2 which can spawn eth Schaeffer. Honestly just made a mistake. I pretty much called every items stat roll except 1 in this video lol...
I use Raven on nearly all of my characters, unless they are getting Cannot be Frozen from somewhere else, that goes there, 20 Dex and huge AR is worth it, what a great ring. Otherwise, I do use Nature's Peace on my Bowazon, but only 50k Pindle Runs to get 1, yay.

3x ohm is extremely lucky, I had a pindle bot hat did way over 10 million runs, like 20 years ago and it found 3x ohm total, unless there was a massive drop chance buff since then

Why is the players difficulty setting relevant for high rune drops?
I've heard on another video that magic find does NOT improve the chances of dropping high runes and since all the players setting does
is increase exp gain and magic find %, isn't it irrelevant for high rune drops?
Magic find doesn't help with runes, but Pindle isn't really good for finding runes.
Iirc there are significantly less chances of monster rolling "no drop" on death, hence "higher" chances of rune drops from the minions around pindle in this case
As Karnnakz2 says, the player count affects the chances for a monster to roll "no drop". Each mob has a different chance of this and some monsters are capped earlier than others e.g Baal and Diablo cap at players 3, Meffy at 5. But Pindle specifically is a super unique therefore his drops are entirely unaffected by player count as they always drop 2 items. That being said, his minions (Only if killing them) are affected.
And no, player count does not increase MF, it is just "No drop" that is affected - Only way to change MF is your own gear/charms or mercs MF (If they get killing blow, it adds their MF and yours together).
Number of players affects the chance that a monster will drop nothing. Various types of monsters (normal, bosses, act bosses) have different chances of no drop. So more players = more items dropped, especially for normal monsters. For bosses the no drop chance gets pretty small even at p3, so usually there's no point of going higher. And some of those dropped items could potentially be runes. MFs doesn't affect rune drop chance at all. However, while the higher player settings yield more items per monster, it may not be true in terms of items/time, it requires a specific optimization for each character and area. Also /player x command adds 'external' players, which are worth only 50% of what a partied player in the vicinity of 2-3 screens would be worth.
Long story short, karnnakz2 and Thegiggleofsteel are correct. Just think of it this way: Player count increases the AMOUNT of items drops (By decreasing the chance of enemy not dropping anything % "no drops") and Magic Find increases the likely-hood of those items being magic/unique/set.
It's pretty easy to wrap your head around, just think of "% chance to drop an item" for /Players settings,
then think of "% chance of dropped item being magic" for Magic Find %.
If I remember correctly, Shaffer's Hammer cannot spawn ethereal.
Correct! indestructable items can't roll ethereal with the exception of Ethereal Edge, Ghostflame, Shadowkiller and Ghostflight which always roll ethereal. There are no ethereal phase blades in the game for this reason.

Aren't there diminishing returns after like 400 MF ? I want to say that it levels off at around 450-500MF.
You *always* get diminishing returns for unique drop odds, regardless of the amount of MF:
25 MF = +22% unique chance (0.88 ratio)
50 MF = +41% unique chance (0.82 ratio)
The dropoff as you go into mid-hundreds is not as significant as the consensus of "400% MF = best" leads to believe:
400 MF = +153% unique chance (extra 8% chance over 350 MF)
450 MF = +160% unique chance (extra 7% chance over 400 MF)
500 MF = +166% unique chance (extra 6% chance over 450 MF)
550 MF = +171% unique chance (extra 5% chance over 500 MF)
It's just that at 400-450 MF, you start trading off substantial amounts of damage and survivability for magic find. Going as high as 700% and over if you're farming /players 1 and it doesn't hurt your clear speed is still worth it.
Yes, the sweet spot is around 300 MF imo, don't invest past that over kill speed.
Anything above 400 is basically worthless compared to the tradeoff in clearspeed but pindle is so easy you can get away with it.
@@i_am_ergo Keep in mind that +166% MF = 266% base vs +171% = 271% base so in reality it is a 5/266 increase which is 1.88% increase to MF.
TLDR +166% vs +171% is an effective 1.88% increase I.E. not really that worth

With a new era of D2 arriving hopefully a new generation of modders will take over from where Plugy left off. From what I hear Blizzard does allow singleplayer modding and I've already seen a few D2R mods around, one mod in particular even looks like Plugy's successor. It features bigger inventory and more stash slots among other things.
A lot of what plugy does is not supported by d2r. Extra stash and inventory is just modifying a text file.
How can people do that many runs, aren't you getting crazy doing this boss over and over and over and over again?
For instance, I did about 50 Meph-Runs a day last week and on bad days just 20, and I felt I couldn't do more, because doing this stuff so many times in a row felt so boring.

you wear the crown, and then everytime you pressed W to switch weapons, it gave you a +1 to skills, and it restarted everytime you exited a game.

I had the -32 dex ammy, this was during 1.09 that the bug existed, you also had to have + skill grand charm per tree to up your skills everytime you pressed W for weapon switch.

How long did it take you to do 50k runs?
So if a run is about 5 minutes long... x 10 runs per hour = 50 runs per hour x 8 hours is 400 runs per day. 50,000 divided by 400 = 125 days. 125 days divided by 30 days in a month equates to 4.16 or just over 4 months and just under a week. This is a very loose estimate. Just factoring in human breaks such as sleep, bathroom, meals and etc. I based 8 hour runs to be the same as a full time job with actual breaks factored in at 10 minute breaks per hour, which sounds reasonable, so you can do multiple runs back to back and bunch up the breaks to however you see fit. Hope that helps. Still a crazy run regardless on how they did it.

Were those 50k runs were done legitimately, or just "planned"? It's easy to think a bot was used to farm this much. I'd become kind of insane if I went that far.

Super bummed PlugY won't be supported for D2R. I love these types of videos and I can't go back to playing single player without the unlimited stash/shared stash PlugY gives us. This week has been so crazy for me. Monday i found Arachnids Mesh from Baal with my Amazon, Tuesday my second Griffons (-17+11), yesterday my first ever Death's Fathom (24cold, 38lightning, 33fire), High Lords and a Sepents Lord, which I was missing for my grail. Most of it by Pindle farming with the babarian.

I think I'll stick with my theory-crafting in hero editor. I could make real cash for all that time 'farming' (or rather my time is being farmed away from me). Rules upon thyself before editing: physically complete all three difficulties solo until at least level 80. Anything that drops can be edited to be perfect after that. There; done. Re-playing a character is for funsies. My necros that get +14 from gear/skill on all can make a 1 point wonder skeleton force with my bone and poison necros... Those are my only two I've pushed past 95 in D2:R. My next is going to be a 'summoning' sorceress with charges gear.

Hard to make an endgame bowzon in single player without it. Buriza and hellcast only get ya so far. Wind force is impossible to find and the HRs are so few and far between it would take months of farming to make faith.

The Ignore target def, huge mana leech and 100 magic damage is huge in single player. Plus daggers have low dura and this is indestructible so no repair, that’s huge. It’s super valuable to offline players and versatile. Don’t forget it’s got a high base attack speed

I use Raven on nearly all of my characters, unless they are getting Cannot be Frozen from somewhere else, that goes there, 20 Dex and huge AR is worth it, what a great ring. Otherwise, I do use Nature's Peace on my Bowazon, but only 50k Pindle Runs to get 1, yay.
