you appear to be the one with the short memory. Nuno's tactics were risk averse absorb and nick a 1 nil. It wasn't park the bus but it certainly wasn't free flowing. I never said nuno would be a bad manager for forest. You'll be soon benefitting from having a bunch of Mendes clients sent over to Nottingham, which will be a good thing as currently Marinakis' illogical transfer activity has left you with about a dozen players nowhere near good enough for this league.

I'm not sure you can call Nuno "divisive". He's the great uniter of players and fanbases alike. He doesn't pamper to primadona types, and he probably will challenge the powers that be - but he absolutely will defend his players, club and fans with ferocious loyalty. I speak as a Wolves fan, and pretty much most Wolves fans will tell you the exact same thing. He had the humility and time to talk to fans whenver he was seen in public spaces, and you won't ever hear him say a bad word about his players.

It’s OK to question any Managers credentials but for Jordan to question Nuno’s character is out of line. When Nuno was at Wolves he was well regarded by the supporters and he reinforced their judgement when he donated about 250,000 pounds to a Wolverhampton charity out of his own pocket. Nuno didn’t need to make that gesture and I’m not sure that many Managers would make such a gesture.

Steve Cooper is a proper coach, gets results and plays attractive football. They lost their focus, they scored but conceded also. @@nigelxavier883Bournemouth have found their way under the new manager after a difficult start. They'll have enough to be clear of the relegation scrap. It's SheffU, Burley and another. Luton have been incredible, they went from National League to Premier League in a few years and if they keep investing, they'll be ok. • @paulie-g
      @paulie-g 9 месяцев назад +1

@@nigelxavier883 Luton is a very nice story, but I judge teams on what they are, however they got here. I don't think they're good, I don't think Townsend is a first 11 PL player, and Barkley is.. Barkley, about 5% of the time. But they're a drilled, organised low block that is hoping to nick points here and there, and has succeeded at times.
Forrest have more quality overall and more going forward, but they're guaranteed to let in more than they score and that's not a route to survival. Nuno would have made sense with a pre season, I don't see them getting better at keeping clean sheets than Luton who've had half a season or more head start to work on that.
As nice as Luton's story is, as a Liverpool fan I'd like to see a historic club like Forrest stay up. On the other hand, if they're just going to play a boring low block for the next 2.5 years (there can be exciting low blocks, eg Burnley under Dyche), might as well get rid.
In any case, there are four teams fully deserving of the drop this season. Forrest clearly thought they need an advantage over Luton and think that advantage is a proven PL-level manager. It's a cogent plan, I'm just not sure a) Nuno has the inspirational leadership to pick up a demoralised group of players (he built his Wolves side up from nowt and couldn't recover once it went sour) and b) even if he keeps them up, Nuno isn't the manager to progress the club. Wonder if Conor Coady is available in January ;)
Bournemouth will be fine. They're miles better than both Luton and Forrest, Iraola has finally got them playing the way he wants *and* believing in the playstyle. They may not be able to sustain it, but their workrate/press and Solanke's purple patch ought to get them enough points to stay up before they tank. In contrast to the Nuno appointment, the Iraola appointment *is* progressing the club and there's every chance they'll be able to ride that train into safe mid-table finishes with the occasional exciting win against the big boys over the next few years (and that's about what a club like Bournemouth can reasonably expect in the best case). I was wrong about Solanke never becoming a first 11 PL striker because of profligacy and inability to be consistently dangerous - very happy I was wrong there, and it shows some players need to go to clubs who will invest into giving them minutes and playing them until something clicks.

@@paulie-g I'm impressed with your knowledge of football. Luton do play well, but what is a low block? Is it playing deep defensively? I heard that from Mourinho also. Forest with 2 European Cups is more successful than Luton, who've been in the top division for longer maybe. Solanke is a target for Arsenal apparently. Forest might struggle even with Espirito Santo on board, I don't see Everton and Palace losing too many points. Bournemouth seem to be improving, but not sure about beating top teams occasionally.

    • @NickNicholsonNFFC

Trust me there isn't any more boring football than what we saw under cooper, all we did was low block anti pressing sit back on the edge of our of our own box. He also fell out with a number of players while he was with us. It's Human nature not everybody is going to get along with everybody they meet, even certain players do not get along that's just how it is. Nuno did win the league in saudi did a fantastic job at wolves and isn't the first or won't be the last manager to fail at spurs, partly because he wasn't allowed to bring all of his back room staff with him. Mourinho and Conte also failed at spurs. I personally do not mind the appointment only time will tell if it is the correct guy at the helm.

When i look at this appointment, i have 2 opinions. My initial view was it was uninspiring, however on the flip side i think this might be the perfectly timed appointment for Forest when factoring in their ambition. Right now Forest in my view is equipped with a lower mid table squad, They have a huge history and an owner that wants to take Forest to the very top. Hiring Santo right now may bridge the gap between Where they currently are in terms of the quality of the team and where they want to be in the next 5 or so years. Santo can come in for the next 2 to 3 seasons and establish Forest as a strong mid-table Premier League side that can attract better players and higher profile managers. At this point they could then go and appoint a manager that can take Forest to a Europa League spot etc

Isn’t it great when the experts are completely wrong footed in their prediction of how Forest’s new manager should start. “They need to nick a few and build from there…… Forest do not need a manager to go in and start playing on the front foot and throwing men forward…” Oops… Nuno clearly wasn’t listening to their advice - 8 goals scored in 3 games is hardly “nicking a few “. He realised that Forest have some quality attacking players. The question now is whether they can test the top sides, having beaten two sides with too much money and current team disarray.

Similar to Villa as in the smith and cooper status with majority of fans.
Dissimilar in villa were not on as as bad a run as Forest.
Dissimilar to Forest as in Forest have signed a competent experienced manager, we signed Slippy G.
At the time the trigger was maybe pulled to early at Villa but Purslow saw the opportunity to employ his mate.
I dont think it was the owners decision to sack Smith.
As soon as it got bad for Slippy G our owners took over, out with Slippy followed by Purslow not long after, the owners then went out of their way to get Unai.
I think the.Forest owner showed incredible faith in Cooper last season and I really dont rhink he wanted to sack him this season, but Cooper fell on his own sword and really gave the owner no choice, sad for both parties in these circumstances
