- Is your laptop running too hot? Then this is the tutorial for you. In this tutorial I show you how to change the speed of your Laptop's CPU fan by using the free application known as HWiNFO

If you don't see fan button means your laptop doesn't support it. Funny
enough this software is a GUI interface for your BIOS fan control so if
you don't have fan control in your BIOS you won't have access in this
software either. Please like this comment if you read it so that it
reaches the top so less people have to encounter this problem.

I don't have advanced menu in Bios, do u know why? Maybe that's why i can not change my ram and fan speed & voltage.
*HELP* I get a FAN ICON on mine, (dell m4800) which has two fans (cpu fan and a gpu fan) - this has been the ONLY ever software, that allows me to interact with the fan...
Example: I click MAX fan speed, and click SET MANUAL, and for half a second the fan kicks in, but then goes back off.... if I click the SET MANUAL all the time, keep clicking it, the fan goes fast, I LOVE IT, as I know its cooling... but it only does it while I repetitively click.... ANYONE ELSE FACE THIS ISSUE
i think i have a solution, under fan 3 you will see respin period, just check the box and you are all good, but dont change the period, i dont know what will happen but dont try and after you are done just click minimize all, THATS IT!!

I've had an issue where my pc has been slow lately, after a week I noticed that I couldn't hear my fan & I was about to take it in to the store to get it fixed until I saw this video, now it's running normal speed in fact it's a bit quicker than usual thank you so much! 😃
+Tomato Ketchup Glad I could help you figure out the issues you were having with your PC. It most likely was getting so hot to the point where the CPU would throttle itself down(slow itself down) to prevent itself from overheating

Thanks a lot for the info. My new Dell Inspiron 3000 3847 (i5) could only be reset at around 700 rpm as standard value (max being the alternative) ), bot both fans are now running continuously at around 700 rpm, keeping things (4 monitored points with Real Temp) at about 33 C (on a 26 C day). Great.
Thanks so much for this video. I need to replace the fan in my laptop, it's loud as hell and driving me nuts, so this helped me shut it up in the meantime.
You're welcome. But, keep in mind that fan may be loud for a reason. Your laptop could be trying to cool itself off when it's getting too hot.

what version were u using at the time as the version i installed didnt work for me as ther was no fan icon i have a lenovo thinkpad t410 intel i5 520m i7 620m soon 4gb ddr3 1066mhz 8gb ddr3 1066mhz soon as if u tell me what version it was then i can look up that version and download it
So I downloaded the program but it appears on my screen diffrent from yours....like I don't see the small fan icon nor am I sure how to find my CPU information that the word CPU does appear on the screen

I followed your instructions but after loading sensors I have a completely different layout of buttons at the bottom & no fan icon.
Gabriel Raiano Sadly, your PC fan may be blocked by your BIOS. You can open your BIOS and check to see if there is fan control option there.
I managed to do it with a program called NoteBook FanControl.

Hey Michael Cera if I'm only able to boost my fan speed in my BIOS and there's no real control, this makes me believe it's voltage controlled rather than PWM. Is there a way to mod my laptop and add a controller myself or is this not feasible? My Asus gl702zc is way too loud at idle, cheers!!

AMOURUE DANIEL no solution in my case, you can only use the built in Asus application for the fan control. Mine allows boost and that's it.
No icon here either, Toshiba Satellite L450 series. SpeedFan also doesn't show one.

bill richardson None, it is probably controlled outside of BIOS. My best solution was the physical route of cleaning the fan system which thankfully is alot easier on my L450 than most laptops.

what can i do?
I have an HP G72, and I don't see the fan logo, but I definitely hear a fan ramping up. If it's a notebook/laptop, you might be able to hear it by getting close.

Actually I thought about a little "popup" note saying where is the fan button on the new version of the software, as the buttons are not the same.

Doesn't work for the Lenovo Z580 good video though.
Sadly, it won't work on all laptops, due to the different BIOS on them. Some allow you to adjust the fan speed and some won't.
The rpm of my fan doesn't show up in the sensors.

Myke Prior Everything showed up fine now, but telling it to always read from the fan EC may cause it again. Too bad the fans for some reason did NOT have controls.
PS. For some reason, linux gets the default name of the PC from the fan :P I dont know how the hell its doing that though. since the fan came from another dell inspiron which was the same as mine, only that the board was dead.

Helpful video actually. I also have an HP Pavilion but instead of a DV6, it's a DV9. I'm adjusting the temps cause of the notorious Nvidia GPUs that they have
If adjusting the fan speeds doesn't work, I suggest replacing the thermal paste on both the CPU and GPU in your laptop.
@@WiltshireTutorials Thanks. I did it but It didn't work. These GPUs (GeForce 8400M GS) are commonly known for overheating even if they have proper cooling. I want to increase the fan speed because the fan is usually spinning at a speed that doesn't cool it properly. Any ideas?

My laptop's fan doesn't speed up even after it's get warm enough it reamains at constant speed as it was before. I don't know if my fan's quality is bad or it has some software issue

+Jan Olav Fåland Try the profile for the ASUS Zenbook UX32LN. Usually they share the same components and the same profile can be used for both models of laptops.
On an msi laptob you can increase and decrease the fan speed by 2 click(5-10 seconds) but you need the program. It will aoutomaticly get added tou your downloead list when you first start the laptop

Hey there, first off, thanks for the video. Secondly, I have an alienware 17, the latest model, and it's allowing me to change the fan speed, only thing is that in the monitor window, i have a CPU speed and GPU speed, when I change the speed manually, the CPU changes just fine, but the GPU drops to 0, which is not a good thing lol!! In the fan speed page, I only have one cursor to move, but it says fan 1 and 2. You have an idea what's happening?

+Hasan kruja That is somewhat of a hard topic to cover. Mainly because all laptops come apart differently and have different heatsinks. Applying thermal paste is quite easy. Same process as a desktop really

That may be a limitation of your laptop, unfortunately.
